Katana'k stretched out his massive black wings, well, scratch that, they weren't 'that' massive, just a bit larger then what other's might have seen on other gods...like his brother for instance. It figures that once he left the area by the jungle, where he last set Mtima...last saw Mtima, that he lost the trail, lost the pull from his brother, an again was out in the middle of rogue lands, not sure which way to go.

Sighing to himself he squinted his seemingly white glowing eyes, the sun was bright overhead causing a glare from his armor around his eyes. Ah well, after a few moments the irritation had passed, and it bothered him no longer. "So what now?" he asked himself, starting to walk forward in no particular direction, he was at a loss of which way to go. Again he found himself lost without a trail, and alone...again.

What now?

Tara tossed her head in annoyance and glared at the stunted tree she was lying beneath.

Well, -had been- lying beneath.

The scant shade it had provided had quickly disappeared once the sun reached its zenith. The stunted branched were far too weak to support her weight and the leaves were small and unable to provide shelter for her. With an angry sigh the lioness climbed wearily to her feet and staggered out into the harsh daylight.

There must be another spot of shade -somewhere- in this god forsaken landscape. She giggled. God forsaken. How many gods had she met now? Two? Three?

Whatever.

She squinted, and thought she spotted something dark and hopefully shady towards the east. With the last of her energy she broke into a trot and headed towards the dark blotch on the horizon.

Katana'k was so tempted to just let his wings drag on the ground, too hot today to do anything really, well no, that was a lie, today was a day where he was angry with himself, and perhaps internally he wanted to punish himself for wasting yet another day. "Damn it...every time I seem to get close, I lose it..." lost his brother's pull that is. Yet he stopped, something catching his white eyes, something dark and approaching this way.

Didn't matter, if someone wished to cause trouble, he would not hesitate to defend himself at all, not today, he wouldn't take anything from anyone today. Though somehting seemed familiar as the other got closer, he could make out markings slightly...so familiar...so familiar.

Could it be?

... Tara paused, glaring at the dark shape.

Was that a tree? It didn't really look like a tree. Or a rock. It would have to be a really really dark rock.

She hesitated, eying the dark spot and glancing back the way she had come. To her left, behind her, she could just make out what looked to be a stand of small trees. She might be able to make it there before she got too hot...

She swung her gaze back in front of her and froze.

Whoa. That darkness was definately closer now. A lion? The lioness lifted her nose to the wind and sucked in a deep breath. There, barely discernible amidst the smell of burnt earth and dry grass, was a scent she recognized. For a moment longer the lioness hesitated.

Maybe this land wasn't quite god-forsaken yet. Tara cracked a wry smile and licked dry lips.

Aw, hell. Maybe he could offer her another ride... or something. Granted, she was bigger than she had been back then. Maybe he knew where shade and water was...

Tara resumed her staggering trot and, strengthened with purpose, headed quickly towards Katana'k.

Katana'k white eyes stayed on the figure and he grinned, it was her, Tara, he remembered now, oh how he remembered. Picking up his pace he slowed down a bit getting closer to her. Why was she out in the middle of no where? He huffed, shook his wings and then pulled back back against his back again, wings were terribly bothersome when it was hot, especially his massive black wings. Damn, stupid things.

"Tara, been a while hasn't it? Well well, look how you've grown," he said with a smile and a grin merged into one, her shoulders tensed from the lack of movement, flicking his tail he blinked a few times as he tried to situate his armor from the sun which made it glint into his eyes.

"What're you doing way out here? Need another ride to some water?" he asked, actually sincerely, he remembered when he gave her a ride back then, and true, she was larger in size now...meaning she was older of course, made no difference to him, he was still larger then she, and he was sure he could handle the weight.

"Or would you rather walk hmm?" he asked flicking his tail. The ground was hot as is, perhaps she would like a ride again this time around.

"I don't always need help." She snorted rudely. "I can take care of myself, you know."

Oops. That came out wrong.

Tara grimaced and glanced away for a moment, unsure how to continue. She wasn't in the best mood, and -really- wasn't feeling up to explaining the situation. Or admitting to the fact that she really wasn't sure WHY she was out here herself.

Sure, Rune was here.

Yeah.

That wasn't a really good reason.

"Let's walk." Tara's voice had softened slightly, but her expression was still irritable. She could feel anger and frustration boiling inside of her, waiting to leak out. Her limbs jerked and she nearly stomped. Ugh. Stupid.

"What are you doing out here?"

Katana'k gave a smile and a chuckle, watched her and raised a brow at her comment, "Did you really think I think that less of you Tara? I remember you ya know, you're very strong, was just a friendly gesture," he said with a nod, a flick of his tail. Women, he swore, as they grew older, so did their nerve and assumptions, jeez.

"A walk it is then," he said raising a paw in the direction of shade, water, and a place of relaxation he had been staying at the past few days during the heat, he then took a few steps, and waited, then continued along once he was sure she was following.

"A few days of relaxation in this heat, its not good to fly to places I need to get to when such extremes beat down on you continuously, so I guess I'm taking a few days off from my search, all is well though, and you Tara, why're you out here alone hmm?"

He was curious...

Tara hesitated for a moment, a silent snarl ripping across her face. She didn't need friends, or help or ANYONE! Everyone just used her. Hasana used her to make up for the lack of a son.

Rune used her to get out of the jungle.

She was TIRED of being used. But Katana'k didn't seem like he wanted anything from her. Maybe she could hang around with him for a little while, at least. Besides, water was awfully scarce out here...

Jerking, as though against an invisible tether, she lurched into a trot and followed after Katana'k.

"I'm traveling to... a pride." Damned it she could remember the name. "And I'm not alone." The last bit was a barely audible mutter.

Katana'k waited and watched her for a moment, women, the hell did he do now? He felt a churn in his stomach from annoyance, but he pushed it away, he didn't like it when he let his anger get the best of him, it was like he became someone else. "A pride? Sounds nice, which one?" Prides in themselves interested Katana'k, he was the god of pride itself, so prides of lions intrigued him greatly so.

Though the mentioning of Tara not being alone raised question in his mind, who was she traveling with, was it another male? If so what was he like...wait. Why was he thinking such things?

Women, they were strange creatures with hexes of their own...

"Thats good then, never well to be alone out here," though he was, and he hated it really, oh well, what else could he do hmm?
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2007 3:49 pm

"I dunno." Tara didn't meet his eyes. Instead she scanned the horizon, searching for the water hole that Katana'k had claimed they were heading towards.

"Kusini... mwezi?" Maybe that was it. Sounded complicated enough, anyways. Whatever. Didn't matter, did it?

She kept on the lookout, and partly expected to see the mottled brown and white form of Runai hobbling behind them. She even glanced back - nothing. Just dust, dry grass, and a few stunted trees.

"No. It's not." But being alone out here might be better than being burdened by a troublesome, whiny, annoying, foolish --

"Are you alone, then?" Tara grinned somewhat maliciously. "Shouldn't you follow your own advice before handing it out?"

Kusini, where had he heard that name before? His mind boggled as he tried to remember, and he just could not place the name at all. At least she had somewhere to head to, unlike him, who seemed to be constantly burdened by going in circles trying to catch up to his brother. Katana'k chuckled and kept walking along, a glint a litter farther from where they were caught his attention, it wouldn't be far now, he could even see the underbrush there.

"Yes, perhaps I should, yet I doubt I'd find anyone who would wish to accompany me out here and on my to-to-list Tara," he said with a nod. Who would be able to stand being around him all the time, going anywhere his mind pulled to. No, that was not a life for a companion, not at all.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 10, 2007 8:28 pm

"Hmph." Tara snorted again and eyed the god. "C'mon. Don't be stupid. I'm sure SOMEONE would travel with you."

God knew it wasn't -her- though. She stifled a giggle - maybe he didn't.

"You're strong, and you can offer protection. Not to mention the ability to fly." The black lioness lengthened her stride. All this talking made her thirsty! She hadn't used her voice in a while - not since stupid Rune and his stupid idiotic --

-- "Where did you say the water was again?"

She could've sworn she'd already covered this land.

"Someone perhaps, though I suppose that someone that might accompany me is out of my reach at this moment," meaning that he hadn't met them yet, or that he still wouldn't find a traveling companion. Flicking his tail he strode along, hey were coming up on the underbrush in a few moments, he could see the water pool glint in the reflecting light.

"Protection isn't everything, and if yo haven't noticed Tara, I might be a bit intimidating...others might not believe me if I say I can take them in the clouds..however, doing such a thing I do sparingly, only for my friends, I assure you," he said with a nod.

He didn't want her thinking that he took lioness fr rides in the clouds often.

"See it, there? The sun reflects from the surface."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 12, 2007 7:22 pm

Tara rolled her eyes and sighed.

"You might be intimidating, but if they MET you they'd know differently. You just have to try." She smiled, though it was a brief one. "After all, you managed to make a friend out of me."

The female did have to wonder how many 'friends' he had though. God of pride, huh? She shook her head. Whatever. Didn't affect HER. She glanced up at the sky, then snorted. She has four legs, they'd get her where she needed to go.

Tara squinted, and nodded curtly.

"Yeah. I see it." She glanced up at her companion. A smile darted across her mouth. Thirst gave her energy to spare, and after all, the faster she got there the sooner she could drink, right?

... aw hell. Why not?

"Race you!" Tara lept forwards as soon as the words were out of her mouth. She stumbled at first, her muscles protesting, but gathered her strength and pounded forwards towards the glint on the horizon.

Katana'k chuckled again, if only she knew, first impression were quite important, and he didn't like to make an illusion over himself that much, so the horns and longer fangs did a number on those that did not know him at all. Though it was true, Tara did not seem to mind, he wondered if others were, perhaps he should consider illusions now and again, but who would know how others would still take his appearance.

He raised a brow and grinned as she bounded off, and he rolled his shoulders, a race was a race, though some might feel their pride damaged if lost, this was friendly.

So as so, he bounded off after her ...and the water of course...
