Mine sadly was spent working on that thing I've been working on for the other site. Nyeh. The arsehats added a mini-event for the weekend only and I went positively psycho trying to complete it. (You may now call me Shite-For-Luck.)
There were also a metric ton of neat wildlife sightings. Dunno if any of you know this or not (and at this point I don't know if I even posted it before) but I am irrevocably in love with turtles--as pets, as an art form I could take or leave 'em. Anyway, about every two days or so a young ornate box turtle will wander into the yard. So far I've met two females and a male (and I almost kept the male heart ) There were dancing bunnies, red squirrels and the crown of wildlife weekend was the discovery of a 4' long Black Rat Snake. S/he was first spotted tooling around our yard but trying to get into the neighbor's yard. (Neighbor is psycho-monkey-terrified of snakes.) Well, I tried to move the thing but it got away from me and disappeared.
So I went back to my little event. Next day (yesterday) I grab my keys and head for the mailbox lalala (my mind was totally on my strategy for this mini-event so technically the world didn't even exist right then)...and just as I was about to walk down my front steps I just happen to look down and draped over the bottom two (there are 4 [I guess 6 if you count the landings], I was on the second step) there's Mr/s Black Rat Snake sunning the living daylights out of itself. Well of course I about hit the ceiling.
See...I love snakes. I mean love them. It's a bit of a morbid fascination 'cause I'm terrified of them too. The smaller they are the more scared I am of them. Think about your average garter snake as 0 on the scale and a 6'+ python as joygasm.
Anyway, I think they're gorgeous. I like the way they move and the way they feel and the way they look. I do not like what they eat. And that is the reason (and the only reason) why I do not have a snake.
I haven't had much sleep for the last 5 days so I'm rambling more than usual, bear with me here.
Well, this time the snake startled me so I kinda flipped out a little bit, had to yell for Hawk (which startled the snake and got him moving and pretending to be a rattlesnake.)
Long story a little shorter, we've found out where it lives. Right at the side of the neighbor's house. You know...the one that's scared of snakes. O.o
But Goddess is this baby beautiful. So very beautiful. And if intensity of markings is any indication, it's a she. *ponders snake babies for awhile*
This is not ours exactly but a real close visual match (if the link works.) Ours isn't taking piano lessons that I know of either.
This is really exciting for me. The largest snake I'd seen in the wild up until now was an 18" garter snake.

Aw, and I had my hopes up for the greatest irony ever! *makes it a dream to see a snake play piano* *____*
Beautiful snake though. I was born in the year of the snake too XD
Completely understand the love/fear thing going on. I usually catch spiders ('cause we don't have any crazy big animals as you do around my area XD) that I find in the house, and throw them outside. The smaller they are, the more skittery they get, and the more nervous I am of it leaping onto me or fall on the ground where I could squish it (>;__;<).
Things with a lot of legs too... Too much... moving.. at once.... gonk

Baww, pansies and bunnies. It don't get much better than that! heart
I'm an ox. xp I forget what I would've been if I'd been born on time instead of early.
xd I hear ya. With spiders the smaller they are the better I am with them. They're doomed at any size if they sneak up on me though. gonk
