Do you believe in talent? Or that all skill is learned? I personally believe that, although much of your skill IS, infact, learned, but that there is talent in specific people, which causes some to branch off into even higher skill among players. Maybe I'm crazy, but that's what I think...
I'd like to know how you all view this subject, but please, be atleast semi-literate, and make any agreements/arguements in paragraph form. I'd rather not have to read dozens of posts saying 'talnt cuz i pwn al my frindz n i nvr prctice or nuthin'<---- Also, even worse is the one word response... 'Talent...' 'Skill'... THAT'S WHAT THE POLL IS FOR!

I definitely think there is a level of talent in Halo 2, my friend plays all the time, pretty much non stop and he's not very good.
I consider myself to be very good at Halo 2, and i have friends who i've played with from the beginning and they are no where near my skill level.

Like wise, more than 9/10 of my friends play Halo, and probably 6/10 play it frequently, and competively. Even so, only about three or four of us have ascended to that higher level of playing. For example, although I don't even have XBL... actually, we'll see in the tournament... ^^.

what i think can be learned : shooting, timing, team work.
thing that cant be learned : luck, i think luck is 90% of halo. we can leave it at that.

im like 2% talent, 98% skill... when i started playin online i pretty much sucked and got my a** kicked.. now im pretty much always top 2 in any given game... but ya i got better from just playing a lot with some good ppl, makin customs where we would just noscope with snipes, have overshields and do br battles, or just do grenade wars... so even tho i consider myself very good, i always suck when i first jump on... need like 3 games to warm up >.> tis so annoying

Talent or skill. Hmm.
Yea, I've played with my friends from around Feb. 05' and I'm glad to say our skill levels are near the same, unlike you guys who either surpassed your friends or got passed up by them.
And I don't believe in being born with certain skills (talent). They have to be made.

I guess I believe in talent. My brother's been playing a year longer than I have and pretty much everyday and I'm still better than him. But you can't be 'born' with talent, that's just stupid. We're all humans, some people just learn faster than others.

Or is this some kind of ecological defect? None the less, talent would be to be able to pick up on something more quickly than someone else. In a certain manner.

Its got to be a combo of skill, talent and luck. I once played a matchmade rocket match with a single ally, who was only playing around at a friends and i came out and won, not because i rocket whored, or the other team was grouped up, i used my knowledge of the map and what i knew about the spnkr to get out ahead, which feeds my skill's idea, luck since i backed up into a corner near the top of the map, easily able to be shot from, but somehow i managed to evade there shots, and then for talent, this was another matchmade game, this time on relic and it was assualt i took a ghost and was mowing down the other team left in right got a spree from that, almost got a kill tac, but the guy got lucky and hit my wing and bounced off, chasiung him i ran off tghe edge of the map, and latched onto the side wall, boosted up out of the water and killed there bombcarrier. Which of course would supply talent.
That's probably to lonmg but its definately a combo no one plays only on talent, skill or luck alone. Talent is very useful skill is almost a need , and luck well it plays a considerable role in sticks and nades

Talent is, on the other hand, things like ability to learn, adapt, and make decisions quickly, along with hand-eye coordination, none of which can be 'learned' or trained into having.
