particles "to" and "mo" particle "no"Asking questions using か (ka).
This is very simple. Put か at the end of a sentence to make it a question. Questions in Japanese are asked with a rising intonation, like in English.
すずきさんです。 Suzuki-san desu. = I am/he is/she is Suzuki-san.
すずきさんですか。 Suzuki-san desu ka. = Are you/is he/is she Suzuki-san?
Using か (either ~ or ~)
When placed in between two nouns か means 'or'.
この天気は明日か明後日まで続くでしょう。 このてんきは あしたか あさってまで つづくでしょう。 Kono tenki wa ashita ka asatte made tsudzuku deshou. = This weather will probably continue until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Using か to formulate indirect yes-no questions.
An indirect question is a question embedded in another sentence. ~かどうか (~ka dou ka) has the meaning of "whether or not". ~かどうか must be preceeded by the plain form of verbs or adjectives. The exceptions are な adjectives and nouns + です (desu). In this case, the plain form of です(だ[da]) is omitted.
この病気は直るかどうか聞いてみます。 このびょうきは なおるか どうか きいてみます。 Kono byouki wa naoru ka dou ka kiite mimasu. = I will ask whether or not this illness will be cured.
Using か to formulate indirect information questions.
Again, the plain form is used before the か.
山田さんがどんな研究をしているか分かりません。 やまださんがどんな けんきゅう を しているか わかりません。 Yamada-san ga donna kenkyuu o shiteiru ka wakarimasen. = I do not know what kind of research Yamada-san is doing. (Literally: What kind of research is Yamada-san doing(?), I don't know)
会場はどこか教えてください。 かいじょうは どこか おしえてください。 kaijou wa doko ka oshiete kudasai. = Please tell me where the meeting all is. (Literally: Where is the meeting hall (?), please tell me.)
Indirect questions can be followed by verbs such as 知っている(shitteiru), 見る (miru), 聞く(kiku), 考える (kangaeru), 教える(oshieru), 忘れる(wasureru), and 覚えている (oboeteiru).

Using よ (yo) to give information
The particle よ (yo) is used when the speaker wishes to emphasize to the listener that he/she is imparting completely new information. It is similar to "you know" in English. Be careful not to overuse it. It goes at the end of the sentence.
あそこに 大きい犬がいますよ。 あそこにおおきいいぬがいますよ。 Asoko ni ookii inu ga imasu yo. = There is a big dog over there, you know.

Using ね (ne) to seek agreement.
Use ね (ne) when seeking the listener's agreement or confirming a fact. It is similar to "isn't it?" in English.
田中さんの部屋には素敵な絵がありますね。 たなかさんのへやには すてきな えが ありますね。 Tanaka-san no heya ni wa suteki na e ga arimasu ne. = There is a nice picture in Tanaka-san's room, isn't there?
よ and ね are used in conversational Japanese, and not in formal writing.

o.O I thought you wanted seperate threads. I guess I misunderstood. >_< I could put all the particles in one thread, but it might be crowded/complicated since pretty much every particle has more than one usage.
Well, if Freakezette has any preferance as to how I do this, that's what I'll do.

Maybe those with like functions together in a thread? Like は and が could have gone together. And I told you I wanted to do particles with time...

Yay! I'm so happy. Now hopefully some people will begin to understand the basics of particles. I agree though, maybe Freaky should put up a sticky post that would have particle lessons in them for individuals and lets you edit it each time you add something new?

I personally think we(the mods) should collect all the threads that have something good to teach the people here, and put 'em all in one thread. What'cha think?

I think it would be best to ask permission from Freaki first, since this is her guild. I'm pretty sure she'd be okay with something like that, but I'm not 100% sure. So before we do anything, we should ask her. 3nodding

Even though I already knew some of these things, it helped to clear up some "floating questions".
