Just posting my intent for my quest.

I'm planning on the Dullahan from Irish folklore. (Much like the Headless Horseman.)

It was a dark night on the moors of Ireland. A long list of people were due to die that night and the Dullahan had much work to be done. He was a mostly misunderstood being whose job it was to call the souls of the dying from their bodies when their time had come. Yes he threw blood at people who tried to peer at them from their windows and sometimes blinded them, but hey, what would you do if you had a complexion like moldy cheese and a head that you had to carry around. You wouldn't want to be seen coming, would you now?

The night was progressing normally. Busting through a myriad of locked gates and doors--the fools. You'd think they'd realize those didn't affect him-- he rode to the house of the first woman on his list. She was a middle-aged woman with a chest sickness. Sometimes he felt like a morbid Santa Claus. His horse stopped in
front of her door and his arm shifted to reveal his beastly burden.

A wide, gaping mouth that looked as if it had been cut open with a hatchet slowly parted and a grating voice issued from it, "Gloria McInle." Almost instantly a wailing pierced the air as the family members on vigil realized she had passed. The Dullahan's mouth closed again and his head was pushed back, hidden into his lap. A faint spirit hovered beside him for a moment and he pointed Gloria on her way. Where, he didn't know. He was merely the Herald. He had no business dying.

His nightly travels took him all over Ireland, calling the dying from their rotting bodies, sending them towards their end destination. He got little satisfaction from this exercise. It was hard feeling good about one's deeds when you knew you were fated with them for eternity.

Little did he know that the people were plotting against him.

"I'm tired of that bloody knight killing off our townsfolk! I say we do away with him!" cried one townsman whose sister had died the week before. Murmurs of assent ripped through the assembled crowd of people. They had gathered from the far corners of the island and were contemplating what to do about the ghoul who haunted them all. In their minds he was evil and evil had to be expunged. Feared, yes, but most certainly destroyed. Anything that killed could be killed in return was their way of thinking.
"Friends!" shouted another. It was a man with a powerful posture and broad shoulders, but one eye was decidedly milky and blind. "I was blighted by the fiend two years hence when I looked upon him at the stroke of midnight. He took my left eye, but could not take my memory. He is overprotective of that head of his and THAT is the way we'll get him."

The discussion went on all night and almost as one the assembled crowd broke off into the night to fetch supplies.

The Dullahan pounded on the dirt roads of the County Cork heading toward his next appointment. He was preoccupied with his job and so when his black steed reared up with a neighing scream he was shocked to see at least thirty villagers standing blocking his path. In his consternation he realized that every single one of them had a gold cross outstretched. Damn and blast! Gold was the one thing he just couldn't stand! He tried to shield himself from the sunlit glare of the gold that only he could see and as he was leaning back, almost falling off his horse one of the impudent villagers ran up and swiped his head! His arms flailed for it, but without the reassuring touch of his face, his body couldn't sense where it was. It fell from the horse and crawled around pitiably as he sensed his head growing further and further away.

The townspeople crowded around the body, gold crosses being replaced by hoes and pitchforks. Mercilessly they tore his writhing body apart before shovelling it into the nearest ditch and marking it with warding signs. They went home, content, thinking their job well done.

The unlucky man carrying the head to a far away place found himself holding a shrieking, biting thing. The pain from the body was too much for the head and the man dropped it under the roots of a large tree. As he let go of the head and peered at it for the last time he suddenly found himself covered in blood. In all his life he could never remove it and so was marked and considered cursed until the end of his days.

The tree, almost taking pity on the Dullahan's dying head grew roots around it and cradled it almost lovingly, like the god, Crom Dubh, whose service the pitiful horseman who'd been in for millenia was finally allowing his servant to rest.

And thus the Dullahan, feared herald of death passed away, his soul split asunder from the parting of his head and his heart. And here ends one story and begins another...

NAME: Issac // meaning: He Will Laugh // Country of Origin: Israel

REASON FOR NAMING: mahii thought it was cute. Once checking the meaning it made sense so it stuck. ^__^

GENDER: Male

LEGEND/MYTHBASE: Irish-the Dullahan

ABILITIES: Can "see" through the touch sense*(Also called Supernatural Sight), Locked doors don't affect him, Can call for a soul of a dying person. (only with head.)

ABANDONED ABILITIES OF THE DULLAHAN: When he stops moving someone dies, if someone looks upon him he strikes them blind or throws blood in their face.

LIKES: Soft and plush things. things that are cool to the touch, mushy foods, the warmth of a fire or heater, lukewarm foods, hugs, backrubs, soft blankets, loud and pounding music, and thunder.

DISLIKES: GOLD, rough and abrasive things, foods that are too hot or too cold, hard foods, rain, carpet and rough handling.

*Touch Sense: Because he doesn't have a head the only sense left of the 5 that he has is touch. Like a blind person with the remaining heightened senses, his sense of touch has magnified hundred-fold enabling him to see and hear after a fashion through the vibrations in the air. However it's all a little blurry. If he directly touches something it's almost like putting on glasses. This enables communication and less walking around into things...although once and awhile he does that. ^^;; He can feel speech through this and learns the language even though he can't speak it himself. He can understand the alphabet and write because he can see the flat surface of a chalkboard. Computers and TV is a no go, because unfortunately they just "sound" like flat screens. Therefore he's more into the arts and writing than he is couch-potatoing it up.

Baby
------
Born without a head, he is the most silent baby you'll ever see. He communicates through body language and because of his heightened sense of touch HATES clothes. They're itchy and he always manages to wriggle out of them. He fusses a lot at night, but because he doesn't make noise it takes awhile to notice...so he's a bit of a nervewracking baby. He knows when people are near and LOVES to be held. LOVELOVELOVES backrubs! XD

Feeding is a bit of a challenge...due to lack of a mouth, but a system will be made probably involving tubes of some kind or an IV.

Toddler
------
The dangerous age. Because locked doors hold no barrier to him, it is impossible to Issac-proof the house. He touches everything, climbs everywhere and basically wreaks havoc. At least he can't teethe...

At one point he asks what mahii's doing as she writes a letter and she tries to teach him. He learns to read at the age of 3ish (which is totally justified because I learned to read at 3. ^__^), but can only read words being written out as he watches. Issac is taught the meanings of words by having them written out as he is handed the item they stand for. Unfortunately this means that abstract concepts are pretty impossible.

He learns the language by hearing the vibrations in the air and because he can "see" well enough he learns not to speak, but to understand much in the way that a normal child would. He starts to have "nighttime terrors" where he wakes up shaking all over and so he is given a bell to warn mahii when he awakens. He adores the bell because of the calming vibrations it gives off and has to be taught ONLY to ring it when he needs help.

He also starts realizing that the beings around him all have this thing on the tops of their necks which he learns from mahii are heads. He becomes obsessed with the idea of heads and starts balancing items on his neck--baseballs, lampshades, cereal bowls... one day exploring in the attic he finds an old foam rubber cast of a pumpkin. He settles on this as his interim head.
Kid
------
This is the age he learns to write. He is given a small chalkboard and writes and uses body language to communicate. He is DAMNED good at playing charades which is good, because sometimes he needs to say something that's too long for his board. He still enjoys discovering new things and frequently disappears, only to reappear holding some trinket that mahii was SURE had been packed away in a locked box

He can now describe his nightmares and states that in them he feels trapped in a dark place, but there are "weird touchings" going on. He doesn't understand light, smell and sound and certainly not taste. It's awkward, but to eat food he just puts it down his throat. Literally. He's deathly afraid of gold for reasons no one can figure out and runs, screaming every time he sees it.

Teen
------
The dreams of the dark place strengthen and he eventually realizes after (fa'e) years of discussing them with mahii that the "weird touchings" are probably his other 4 senses... which may mean his head. At some point he quests to get his head back. When he finds it it's COVERED in hair and a beard and it looks like the mouth had been slashed open to the ears. He sews up the mouth to be more normal and has mahii trim the hair and beard. He enjoys stroking the beard. It has a funny texture. After he finds it, he takes to carrying it with him everywhere. He spends a lot of time exploring his new senses and has to learn to see with eyes instead of touch. He won't lose the ability to "see" with touch, but sight, hearing, taste and smell are new and exciting. However, he is still mute. The only thing he can speak is the name of someone about to die. He still wears the pumpkin.

Eating is still really awkward because he wants to chew everything before eating it. But his head isn't attached to his neck. Basically no one wants to eat with Issac. He's almost like a kid again with his new senses and gains a HUGE addiction to the theater, The loud sounds and moving people and glorious sets make him glee.

Youth
------
To be Determined

Adult
------
As to whether or not he becomes human or ancient, it's really up to Issac. We'll see perhaps.
