Since there wasn't one up yet, I thought we could use a place to just throw around Q&A about parts and tuning. At the moment, I don't really have anything urgent to deal with in my car, but I was just kinda wondering what everyone else was up to.

Well you forgot SCCA and the SCCA GT. Those are what I like to watch and would most like to do. the SCCA is like the RSX's, BMW's, WRX's, Protges and s**t on a track road racing and the GT one is Vipers, corvettes, mustanges and stuff like that. But out of what you have there, I'd say drag (NHRA) would be my fav.

Well I'm glad we talked about trannys and such and I hope you understand them a bit better. Anyway, for more torque I suggest maybe a bigger throttle body and also some underdrive pulleys. Those will put less stress on your engine thus letting up more power and torque. The cold air/ram air inducition and free flowing excuast will greatly help also, but doing all the above will make a huge differece if all done together. Not at the same time obviously, but you will notice a difference when they are all done.
Actually, adding a larger throttle body and a cold air intake system will more than likely take away torque, although adding horsepower at the top-end of the band. A lot of newer cars are engineered specifically to optimize horsepower as as the engine is. That's why all these ricer boys are putting in stuff thinking bigger is better, only to find that they're going slower down the 1/4 mile.
To get proper gains out of an intake, I would go with a ram air setup over a cold air setup. As for the throttle body, I wouldn't even consider putting in a larger one unless you're going for a supercharger or turbine setup. You gotta remember your engine is only 1.8L and adding unnecessarily large things will just jack up everything.

I moved your post to here. Just to let you know. Anyway...
Yes a ram air might be better for increased torque, however a cold air will still add a bit more. And I had a talk with a good friend that works at a parts store. Those new celicas come with nice size injectors stock so a bigger throttle body and some nice cold air would do it very good. Altho you have to think about what you plan to do in the future before doing the mods because some things go better with others. and thats my 2 gold. xd

Super Tuned Rally action is my favorite. The skill level of Rally drivers is freakishly high. When they talk about the course the take into account all sorts of conditions. What gets insane is when they talk about techniques like ditch hooking. There are really drivers like Takumi Fujiwara.

What gets exciting to me is that Rally driving is not only dependant on the drivers skills, but on the navigator making acurate notes and spotting things that the driver might not. It seems more like a team effort more than any other kind of racing, because the cars will get wrecked at some point and if the mechanics are good they can get it fixed in a long night.

If I could choose any kind of motorsport to actively drive in, it would either be as a WRC driver, or next best thing the D1

Speaking of rallying and navigators, I was doing a little friendly racing on a clear stretch of road last night with my sc300 (my friends were running a G35 and an Eclipse). No one was really pushing it so it was pretty easy to stay in the lead. I would've had bragging rights too, but my navigator (my friend's 15 year old kid brother) pointed the wrong direction. We ended up coming in dead last xp

As for drivers just like Fujiwara Takumi, you might wanna check up on a kid from California named Ken Gushi. He's only 17 but he's already made top 30 of the D1 qualifiers with his sponsorship form team Rotora. Look for good things from him in the future 3nodding

I think when I get my first car, and I bring it up to drift spec, then Im going to form a racing team if I can and have stickers made up.
I like the way the cars in inital D where sponcered. Even if the performace sponcers where made up they still had cool names.
