Well, at you actually. I don't watch that rotten piece of junk english dub anymore. Listen to this, some quotes by the people of FUNimation: Quote: Gen Fukunaga, on editing: Whenever you produce children's shows, you have to allow censors to dictate what exactly gets on the air. We try to keep to the scripts as closely as possible but the censors ultimately dictate what gets on. That's why we want to make an unadulterated [(unedited)] version for true fans. So not true. I compare english uncut and japanese versions with eachother on my site, Bulma.NL, and it's still altered or just plain different. Quote: Barry Watson, on scripts: We get translated scripts from Japan, from the original Dragon Ball show, but a lot of the time it's very difficult--the English is sketchy at best, the character names will be very inconsistent, things of that nature. So our writers will go through and write a legitimate English script that's recordable... We also have a punch-up writer, who basically writes humor, to beef up the comedy. gonk Quote: Sean Schemmel, on the show: The writers on the show did such a fantastic job, and I'm really eager to get it on DVD so that I can watch the original Japanese version. This quote is VERY funny because: Quote: Sean Schemmel, on Goku's Japanese VA: I love Japanese people, but they're trying to speak to their culture. For crying out loud, Gokuu's voice is done by a woman in the Japanese version. Do you picture a muscle bound, monkey-like fighting badass as having a high pitched womanly voice? I mean, I don't really think so. By that I mean that it's ridiculous to American culture. Now to the Japanese culture, they totally love it. I hate that man. How can he say the previous quote if he thinks the REAL voice of Goku-san is so terrible? Masako Nozawa-san does an EXCELLENT job on Son, and her female voice is the best for Goku, that's what I think. Here's what she has to say about Son!: Quote: Masako Nozawa, Goku's Japanese VA, on Goku: I think Gokou is extremely pure, in the world of Dragon Ball, as he gets older. I just want him to keep his pure feelings and heart. That's our Goku. The loved Goku. Not the muscle bound, monkey-like fighting badass!! gonk scream Quote: Sean Schemmel, on removing the Japanese elements from the show: The diehard fans would get it because they've seen the original Japanese, but the product we're producing is for America, and several other countries, not just the hardcore fans. It's got to appeal to an American or viewer for it to be successful. Screw up some other anime, would you? They should have left DB alone if they wanted an american show! scream Quote: Sonny Strait, North American VA for Krillin, on FUNimation's new music score: I think the main thing about them not using the original music, and I could be wrong, is because of the dated factor of it...But uh, there's definitely an appeal to it, but I don't think that it's as wide a range of appeal as what they want. I mean, people like you, and others that are die-hard anime fans are definitely gonna want as much of the original as possible, but I think the general population is more entertained by screaming guitars and such. I'm feeling sick now. I really do. Quote: Sonny Strait: When you try to appeal to the general population, you need to appeal to a different level, and it's not exactly an intellectual one ^_^. Haha! I find this quite funny. But I would feel offended if I still watched the FUNimation dub. Now people, your opinion about all of this. Don't quote the first post. These quotes are from http://dbzoa.net, great site. Visit now.

To be honest I dislike FUNimation too considering the dramatic changes they did to DBZ but frankly I don't hate them that much rmembering the fact that thanks to them we can see the masterpiece that is DBZ here in North America. Without FUNimation we wouldn't all have the priveledge of watching it.

SYFFER To be honest I dislike FUNimation too considering the dramatic changes they did to DBZ but frankly I don't hate them that much rmembering the fact that thanks to them we can see the masterpiece that is DBZ here in North America. Without FUNimation we wouldn't all have the priveledge of watching it. Big chance I would. You see, Germany, the country next to mine (Netherlands) also have DragonBall Z on TV. Not english dubbed, but dubbed in German, and it's completely uncut and such. And with all the dubbing companies now, DragonBall Z would be bought by atleast someone, not neccesarely FUNi. Here look. An interview the DBZOA did with a TOEI Animation employee: Quote: 36. For years people have been wondering just what Toei thinks about FUNimation and the way they've been handling Dragon Ball Z and, just recently, Dragon Ball GT. Well we've got someone from Toei here today. So tell us- what do you think about FUNimation and they've handled these animes? A. I can only guess what the people in the mother studio in Japan thinks...they seem to be in a whole other world there. As for my own personal opinion, I am not happy with the way FUNi has treated the series at all. I don't know how well FUNi has been doing with their other properties, but their fortune was made mostly off of DragonBall, a fortune that they frankly do not deserve. I don't see the point of rewarding someone to beat me over the head, so why does FUNi constantly get away with turning what is an otherwise good show into mindless crap? 43. Considering how big a fan Mr. Eichiro Oda is of Toriyama's work, what do you think he'd think about the way FUNimation has been treating DBZ and GT if he ever found out? And if he had known about that beforehand do you think if he'd have ever entrusted and authorized OP to FUNimation? A. Had he known and fully understood the situation beforehand... I sincerely believe he would have pulled out of the FUNi deal and looked for someone else.

Saiyan X They may not do a very good job at dubbing but i'm sure they do thier best. That's why I still watch it whee Hahahaha. 40%.Only 40% are they true to the real script. They changed personalities. Goku and Vegeta, everyone for that matter- they're not themselves anymore. Why change something, that's already a big hit in Japan, and all over the world? No, not just the censores. And for those of you that don't reply... is it because you don't want to know the english version is horrible? Or is it that you already know? Please reply. ^^;

Either way, Z is still a hit but the dubbers (FUNi) change it according to how they feel it should be?
