Wow, it's been a long time since I started a topic. So forgive any mistakes or repetitive-ness... Oh, and forgive any spelling mistakes. X_x

So, a question that has been on my mind for a little while comes in the form of the debateably closest woman to Hiei; Mukuro.


Yeah, we all know her. The only female "King" of the Makai. The only woman inside the anime and out who can relate to our beloved Hiei.

I've seen time and time again a lot of hatred towards her and can't help but wonder why? She's such a cool female character, and I don't say that willy nilly, trust me. I hate 98% of female anime characters for one reason or another.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not the biggest HieixMukuro fan. (I'm a hard core YusukexHiei fan personally. ninja ) Though I do support the couple to some extent. Which makes me wonder if that's why people don't like her. The possible pairing of her and Hiei. Which is all fine and good if you support something else like KuramaxHiei or something, but even so everyone has to admit that the ending of the series was leaning towards HieixMukuro and the "hints" of KuramaxHiei in the anime were there to please the fangirls. (But we were pleased, right? xD)

I hope there is no grudge against her because people out there would rather themself/mary sue/original character get Hiei. gonk Especially since no Mary Sue would ever catch Hiei's intrest provided he was real. Mukuro probably would.

I also hope people don't hate the pairing because she isn't as pretty as, say, Botan or something. Not that I think anyone in this guild would hate a char. for a reason like that, but I've seen the lowest of low from fangirls in various places on the internet and it disturbs me. gonk

So really this rant is basically to learn the reason(s) people don't like her, myself having supported her in the past. I mean, by all means, hate her. I hate characters *coughKagomecough* so you can hate whoever you want! Just let's hear some reasons so I can have a better understanding.

The reason why I don't like Mukuro is simple: I find her to be one of the most boring characters around. There is nothing about her that even slightly interests me, and I also think her character is rather stereotypical and over used. We all know she was a slave and suffered abuse (pretty cliche right there), but in the manga it's known that she was sexually abused by her father (I don't know if the man was her biological father or not, but that's not the point), and she poured acid on herself as a result. Eventually she escapes and becomes consumed by hatred, and you know the rest . . .
To me, it really is all stereotypical, especially when she's going on about her anger and hatred. I know what happened to her was awful, but Mukuro is just too cliche for me to even feel sorry for. I can't even find any admiration for her, as she let her anger control her. A stronger and wiser person wouldn't have let that happen. I also found her to be just a flat, static character. It wasn't until the very last episode did I see any character development or a different aspect to her, and it wasn't much. Below is something I wrote when I was still new to the guild about my opinion on Hiei/Mukuro and gives more reason why I don't like her:

Mukuro is a pretty cool character. I pretty much hate her for one reason and one reason only, she's with Hiei. She's completely different then the type of girl I would expect Hiei to be with, and it just erks me to no end.

Well, DUH. Her character couldn't change because her character didn't have the whole series to improve. She was only in the last sixteen episodes. Dx It would be hard to introduce her character only to change it three episodes later. It would make her slave past meaningless. Plus, she did change where as she became less ruthless by becoming softer after having Hiei, much like how Hiei became softer after teaming up with Yusuke. Her past is similar to Hiei's. You can't call Mukuro a boring character without calling Hiei a boring character since they were so similar. Dx

Just because she's not hot, you can't go down on her. xD Besides, I think she's a perfect girl for Hiei because Hiei is not vain and would care less about appearances. He would find a girl who can defend herself more attractive then say a Mary Sue with an American name that has neko ears and angel wings. X_x;Sad but true.

Togashi is an expert at character-creating, in my opinion. EVERY one is a sterotype. Name someone who's not. xP Even in real life. *Ahem* His characters are all unique. I think he does a better job than, say, Rumiko Takahashi who se characters are all the same with different hair. (IE Kagome (IY) and Akane (Ranma 1/2))

I don't give a damn about what she looks like. One of my favorite characters has a huge scar across his face and I love him. And, yes, I can call her a boring character but not think of Hiei as the same. The stories behind them are very different and that's what makes all the difference. They also act differently as well. What I consider boring and what others consider boring differ. Also, I never said anything about changing. It's called 'character development.' Sixteen episodes is plenty enough to see some different aspects of her. It wasn't until the last episode, and it didn't even last for more than a minute. If Mukuro was a main character, I probably would have ended up liking her, unfortunately she wasn't.

Muku-chan is fun to draw, which is why I started to like her. xD No two people draw her alike. Hee hee
