A female friend of mine was saying that she doesn't believe that I trust her. And yet I made an account for her on my computer with administration priveledges. Now that might not seem like alot to most people but for a technical person to give basic unrestricted access to all your files I think that that is a Huge leap of faith.

to me, that signifies ultimate trust - I give my girlfriend all my passwords to: e-mail, Linux server, OpenBSD router, school webserver, unrestricted internet at school, etc.... she's earned my trust with all of them and I trust her completely. She doesn't abuse them and actually helps me with some of them.

Like for the love of god my best male friend whom I've known since I was 3 months old doesn't even have this sort of access to my computer. I think that this shows a huge amount of trust.

I think so far everyone has missed the point:
The girl said she feels you don't trust her.
In other words, she doesn't trust you. Trust, confidence, and a whole host of other things are at play here. Don't try to convince anyone you trust them. You either do or don't, and they'll either trust you back or not.

She can feel that you don't trust her. For example, when confronted with such a thing, I didn't ask "how can I make you trust me?" That's just setting yourself up for failure, because it shows that you're being manipulative, which isn't a good way to earn trust. Just acknowledge that you understand she doesn't trust you, and let it be, pure and simple. Trust takes time. Me, for example, I'm a paranoid delusional that trusts no one. No one knows any of my passwords, and I never use the same password for more than one thing at a time. I would never trust anyone to catch me if I was doing the whole "falling back and letting them catch me." It's just my nature. xp

I'll give people probably more chances to be trusted than almost anybody else I know, and I'll keep giving chances until that person has shown an unwillingness to cooperate.

You either do or don't, and they'll either trust you back or not. naww its not that she doesn't trust me she just feels that I dont trust her, but I'm not about to make grandious jestures to prove my trust for anyone. My best friend Luke knows I trust him and he doesn't have admin on my system, trust is as people have said established over time. I've known her for a shorter period of time and yet she gets the same treatment as Luke. I don'[t get why women think that trust needs to be proven, when my male counterparts don't doubt it in the slightest. At any rate I'm done jumping through hoops for members of the opposite sex, if someone doesn't get the idea that I don't get all emotional over small things or even large things for that matter then they obviously don't understand that that is one of my signature personality traits. I prefer reason and devising logical conclusions to sheer emotion, it is a cold way to operate but nobody has ever complained until now. Trust is a relative thing, and I will not spend every waking minute of everyday trying to prove it to people. When I say that I trust you, you either take or leave it at face value.

B_type13sback she just feels that I dont trust her Oh. Heh. I missed that part. sweatdrop Dr. Phil says she has a guilt complex. xd Don't worry. Just give it time. But if she starts trying too hard to earn your trust, I would expect foul play...
