I just hope Christian doesn't leave F1! There are already rumors going around that he might leave F1 for Champcar! gonk gonk gonk

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Bull to Back Klien in Champ Car ?

Like Juan Pablo Montoya, Red Bull's Christian Klien might have to turn to the American racing scene as a career lifeline for the 2007 season.

The 23-year-old Austrian is in pole position to be chopped from the energy drink-owned team's race lineup at the end of the season, as support for his veteran teammate David Coulthard grows.

Admitting that either Klien or 35-year-old Coulthard will almost certainly be shown the door, team principal Christian Horner told Motorsport News: ''(Christian) has got an experienced teammate in David and he needs to tidy up elements of performance such as his inconsistency.''

Austrian newspaper 'Salzburger Nachrichten' mentioned the Champ Car possibility, saying that Klien could continue to enjoy Red Bull backing. AJ Allmendinger already enjoys Red Bull's support in the category.

Klien's other option appeared to be the company's junior F1 team Toro Rosso, but co-owner Gerhard Berger has not spoken glowingly about the scenario.

There are still 8 er so races left, if he puts on a good show and keeps up his performance, they should keep him around.

Yea they'll be watching both Klien and Coulthard's performances, and consider who they better keep.

He won't be with Red Bull next year... is there any chance that he'll join another team next year????

It's really sad, but I can't see Klien getting a seat somewhere else. It sucks, because he's a good driver, he's just been unlukcy, and RBR are making a mistake keeping Coulthard, that dood is well past his prime at this point.

I'm thinking he might be 3rd driver somewhere.

I think he shoulda taken a drive at DTM. Gary Paffet did an amazing job in that serires and got 3rd driver duties at McLaren...

turns out maybe not. I got this from crash.net ->

Quote:
Contrary to popular belief, which had Christian Klien lining up in the third Spyker MF1 entry for the Chinese Grand Prix, GP2 Series frontrunner Alex Premat will make his Formula One debut instead.

The team has also confirmed to Crash.net that Adrian Sutil returns for Japan, while Ernesto Viso will act as as the test and reserve driver for Brazil, providing he completes sufficient mileage this week to earn the mandatory superlicence.

Premat's nomination has come somewhat out of the blue, with Klien being the name on most lips following his premature departure from Red Bull Racing. The Austrian press remained convinced that he would be back in F1 as soon as Shanghai, even going as far as quoting Spyker team MD Colin Kolles as saying that Klien was the preferred choice. The official line from Spyker MF1 has been that it was evalauting its options with regard to third drivers for the final three races, but that it would prefer the same driver for each race.

That hope has clearly been ditched, with only Sutil remaining from the team's previous testing corps, and both Premat and Viso set for their F1 debuts after relatively successful seasons in GP2. Sutil was a logical choice for Suzuka given that he is currently racing - and winning - in the Japanese F3 championship, and has impressed on previous outings with MF1 this season, but the other two drivers have come to the team as outsiders.
