I'm thinking of a time somewhere in the middle of the story that some pokemon set free by the trainer will go to the mystery dungeon before returning to the trainer.

Will all the trainers start the RP in the same region or will the others just enter when the RP reaches their region?

Oh, you'll see.
Normally it all starts in the same region, but I don't know how Imma do it quite yet, it often takes me like, 15 minutes of thinking, and 5 minutes of making a new OC for a new RP, but it'll be good, don't doubt it ^^

I think an additional question would be really helpful-
not just where, but When?
If we're going by Gen 1/3 as the starting time, we're likely looking at Kanto/Hoenn shenanigans, 2/4 Johto/Sinnoh/Orre, and gen 5- Unova time.
XD the when sort of affects my character a lot.

Let's not forget that the story can stretch all the way from before the story of the main series or even after the series

This is true, Either one could apply. I imagine that it most likely won't be before, though, if only because most of the important stuff in a couple regions depends on the previous games. Good point, though.
