Just wondering how many people out there consider themselves serious roleplayers. I'm kind of tired of the younger rp'ers who are all powerful, and pull everything magically from their hat.
^^ I'd also like to discuss forum ideas with people

By serious, do you mean a non-magical RP that has most character over the age of 20?

It is possible, you just need to find the right people to do those RP's.

The RP I was thinking of was Jessie's Tavern. It has been made a few times in a few places, and seems to get quite a few players each time.

I personally have been in quite a few lovely role-plays that had good storylines and characters.
But every single one had a creator that wasn't scared to ban people or whip them into line.

Yes, having someone who actually knows how to take control of an RP often makes it a better story in general.
I do have a personal vendetta against the types of players who pull a nullifying move out of their butt EVERYTIME you hit them with something. There was a notorious one of those in a previous website I visited. Granted, he did at least put the nullifier on a different portion of his character every time (until he ran out, then he just recycled through). He'd have a laser shield one time, a gauntlet of eternal absorbtion next, then high-jump-boots, then a ring of (insert your own ability here). But it got really annoying, really fast.

a serious rper eh? in essence not here, but rpers that can paticipate in a story and make it great.........yes. A serious rper would make it seem real and that in itself defeats the entire purpose of what we do my friend. Half of the fantasy is its unrealism. These strangers meet on the playground of life and fight, laugh and die together. There are those that want to be the center of the world but any rper worth their salt can make quick work of these amatuers.
Of course these people aren't to be condemed for overdueing things. They are simply ignorant of the effects and a better way. A good rp is alot like a good opera, all things build to the end and a good rper is always manipulating things to their own grand ending in the scheme of the rp.
So to answer your question more clearly, on gaia there is no serious rper, because serious people are simply no fun. Sometimes you have to embrace the chaos and work with people you don't like. It adds conflict and conflict is the lifeblood of all rps

Well, it depends on what your implying the word 'serious' to. The way I see it, if you are a serious role player, you are seriously dedicated to it. You try and keep a role play alive and actually put your heart into what your typing for your character, instead of flinging it out there and not really describing everything you should. Besides that...horrible grammar aggravates me, but that is besides the point. xd Anyway! Yes, I do believe that Gaia is most defiantly capable of containing serious role plays/role players. Just depends on what person you bump into constructing whatever role play your interesting in.

Serious roleplay is hard to find anywhere, not just on Gaia. of everyone I know and have ever met I have 1 serious roleplay friend (some others have not yet been given a chance at it, thus I cannot speak about them, will find out sooner or later though)

What do you mean exactly by serious role player?
I my self think a 'serious' role player is someone who can pull an RP together with flowing sentences(Making sense when they type.), good use of words, making sure every one is involved and having fun, making sure every one is following the rules, and taking charge if they have to. Also someone who can get into any type of role play. Its like acting, if you can't practically become your character then there is no hope for you. You have to be able to keep the RP alive.
But these are just my thoughts, every on has their own opinion.

Well the only 'serious' roleplayers I know on Gaia, are my fellow UnderGaians. And even we get a bad apple in our bunch every now and then.
I have pretty much given up on Barton Town, as it seems to be infested with whiny gay catboys and all of their friends.
And yes, I realize I'm overdoing it, but you have to admit that's not that far from the truth.

Well, I've never had anyone tell me I'm a particularly bad roleplayer...
I guess I'd be counted as serious, but I can't do a serious roleplay very well. I just have to be a moron at every few turns, y'know? xD
Edit@above: Actually, there's The Gambino Army Base. We don't really have any noobs that godmod excessively... Though we do have Mel, who's still getting into things.
