"Minthe, who, according to myth, became the concubine of Haides, was trampled under foot by Kore [Persephone], and was transformed into garden-mint, the plant which some call Hedyosmos." Persephone; Queen of the Underworld, goddess of spring, Iron Maiden Persephone was titled Kore (the Maiden) as the goddess of spring's bounty. Once upon a time when she was playing in a flowery meadow with her Nymph companions, Kore was seized by Haides and carried off to the underworld as his bride. Her mother Demeter despaired at her dissappearance and searched for her the throughout the world accompanied by the goddess Hekate bearing torches. When she learned that Zeus had conspired in her daughter's abduction she was furious, and refused to let the earth fruit until Persephone was returned. Zeus consented, but because the girl had tasted of the food of Haides--a handful of pomegranate seeds--she was forced to forever spend a part of the year with her husband in the underworld. Her annual return to the earth in spring was marked by the flowering of the meadows and the sudden growth of the new grain. Her return to the underworld in winter, conversely, saw the dying down of plants and the halting of growth. In other myths, Persephone appears exclusively as the queen of the underworld, receiving the likes of Herakles and Orpheus at her court.

Mairead put her clothes away, as well as her weapon and took a deep breath, looking around. The cabin smell of fresh flowers, and was very pleasant. She collapsed onto one of the beds, shaped like a flower. She sighed, falling asleep.

Mairead looked around her, feeling extraordinarily happy. She walked just outside the cabin, where there was a small garden. Taking her spade, she dug in the garden, planting pomegranate seeds, as well as many wild flowers. She worked long, until finally, her clothes covered in dirt, she stood.

Seth Entered the cabin with his mouth shut. He didnt want to see those annoying flowers hanging around the bed's headboard. He placed his bag down and looked around, no one seemed here yet.

Mairead re-entered the cabin, looking bright and happy. She had already touched the window sill and sprouted flowers when she realized another camper was there. "Oh hello," she said in a quiet voice. "Do I know you?"

Mairead found herself a little angry. "No, I meant why are you in here? I felt that it was rude, so I opted for a more gentle approach." She stood, tossing her red hair over her shoulder. "If you don't mind," and she touched the bedspread, flowers blooming on the sheets.

Neesie came in, looking a little winded, with her trunks in tow. Looking around she was dazed, "It's beautiful!" she exclaimed. She picked out a bed in the corner. It seemed to be a rose in full bloom. After picking her bed, she went to set up her trunks (the kind that are like a mini closet and drawers). After admiring the room some more she suddenly realized how tired she was; she hadn't slept well in the Hermes cabin. So she lay down on her bed and immediately fell asleep.

Mairead turned around huffily and came to her bed in the corner, which was pretty much a giant white primrose. She rat there in the middle of the flower, enjoying its' sweet perfumes. She tapped one of the petals and the flower closed, sealing Mairead inside.

Neesie wakes up and looks around, "Hello?" Not seeing anyone at the moment, though she notice one of the beds folded up, she digs in her trunk to find a book. Once she finds one she sits on her bed and starts reading.

After coming back from eating dinner, Neesie dressed herself in her silky pj's and slipped into her fragrant rose bed, still seeing the folded primrose that she just realized must be another camper sleeping, decided to do the same. The thought of touching the petals came into her mind. As soon as she did, the petals closed and she quickly fell asleep. ((Thank you Ebonii for the idea. It was a wonderful one.))

Seth looked at his sister, looking pissed((is the word pissed okay?)) Flowers, Beautiful yet mysterious. Why do I get the feeling of denial against them? it's not like I really like them or Mom those but there's something else than that.. he thought, by that time, more campers were coming forth the cabin and he decided to stay for a while, wondering how he could spring flowers from his bed.

Neesie woke up dazed and smelling like rose. She wasn't the least bit tired, though she had been very exhausted when she went to sleep. "How long was I asleep?" she said aloud, but to herself. Tossing that thought away, she decided to go to the lunch pavillion after her stomach growled so loud she was sure someone in the Apollo cabin could have heard it. So she got out of bed, put her hair up, and got dressed in jeans, a tee-shirt and sneakers, and went to the lunch pavillion.

✿Daughter of Ҏ ϵ ɾ ȿ ϵ ҏ ɧ ѳ ɳ ϵ✿ Mairead opened the petals to her primrose, yawning. She'd had long night of sleep, and now felt bad about yelling at Seth. Sighing, she dressed in a long, simple cotton dress, tossing her long red hair behind her shoulder. "I'm going out," She said to no one in particular. Smiling, she slipped on her white flats, and gathering a bouquet of white flowers she'd sprouted from the ground, she walked to the door.
She paused by the door, still feeling bad. She turned to Seth."Look, I'm sorry that I yelled at you. I guess I was in a bad mood." Sighing, she turned on her heel and left the cabin, hoping she could find a nice place to plant flowers.
Nature...Our Most Valuable Power. ✿ When you return to wander smiling in fields of sweet grass your footsteps and voice awaken spring. We know you in bursting pomegranates, laughing children and nodding flowers: roses, violets, crocuses, irises, hyakinths, anemones, daughters of the wind.
