This has to start in your head ... your mind will be your greatest friend or enemy ... it all depends on you ... from there you have to list goals ... and the way to obtain them ... start of small ... then work your way up ...
If you mean be martial art ... I will automatically tell you muay thai ... but if I was talking with my friends ... we would suggest a form of grappling ...

Ok if you have small budget buy a sauna suit and get chest, ankle weights, if you want heavy weight that mean you lose alot, if you have lite that mean you just want to take it easy, afterward Jog your a** two mile a day with out stoping... if you stop that only you mind telling you that (like that girl said you are own worst enemy)..then 50 push up and 50 sit up when you finish drink alot, get on a proper diet. also the human body suppose to take 8 glass aday of water
i suggest this in the morning or when you have time free...this only take two or one hour aday ,btw are you overweight or something?I'm just curious

I concur with Baka. From a strictly medical standpoint, the key to losing weight is cardio, cardio, cardio, and then some cardio. There are, of course, many ways to do this, the simplest and easiest of course being the suggested walk/jog/run technique. Here in Montana, that isn't always an option with winter lasting so long each year, so in place of the walking/etc., I personally converted my garage into a place where I could perform other cardiac exercises (i.e. jumping jacks, jogging in place, retzev, and capoeira). Most of these don't require much more than perhaps a foot clearance any direction beyond your arm span.
And I know I'll catch grief for it, but I happen to know that the program works, another great cardio for someone who can't always get out is an exercise program like Tae Bo or comparable systems. While they don't fundamentally teach martial arts, they are based upon them and they definitely do work if you keep them up.

Tae bo isn't a bad idea ... in the cardio aspect ... that's what Tae Bo truly is ... cardio kickboixng ...

What wrong with using the sauna suit? it has the same affect as in sweating shirt. it's propose is to release toxins in your body and burn fat with the diet.

It doesn't really burn fat, more so it helps remove water weight, thus leaving you a little dehydrated so extended use can lead to dehydration.

Actually, losing weight isn't JUST cardio. After a certain point, you will plateau and that plateau may or may not be at your goal. Your body tends to have a "mind of its own" in terms of working out. If you do cardio all the time, especially if you're doing the same type of cardio, your body will get used to it. The point here is to keep your body "uncomfortable" by throwing in different types of exercises. Spend one day kickboxing, another doing yoga, still another lifting weights, for example.
Skip the sauna suit for reasons other people have already mentioned. Push-ups and crunches can be done at home. Invest in an exercise ball. Conditioning too. A long piece of rope can act as a "divide" that you can jump over quickly, shuffle back and forth, etc.

The key is when you think that your body plateaus ... you add something new ... don't flood the body ...
