Hello and welcome to my first RP at this guild!!! -throws confetti and waves little RP flags- Hehe I didn't think I'd manage to find a decent Literate guild around Gaia, but thankfully DG pointed me in this direction; thank ye very much! n.n

Right then here's a few things you might need to know about this roleplay; some may border rules but I will actually list those that count in a different post. Be aware this roleplay is for everyone; which means your character can be a heterosexual or a homosexual, hell even bisexual too- I have no qualms with either and I'd prefer it if everyone was equal. I shall let you know now that my character herself shall be homosexual, so of course I'm hinting at a possible Shoujo-Ai Romance here, but like I said earlier- feel free to join in anyway!

This actual roleplay has a plot, quite a long one too, and of course is open to you all! The genre itself borders many things, but mainly it focuses on Fantasy/Medieval/War/Romance...

Like what you hear? Then Read On!! biggrin

Part 1: Welcome!
Part 2: Rules
Part 3: The Story
Part 4: Town Descriptions
Part 5: Basic Races
Part 6: Character Stats

+ Vampires +
Cold, cunning and blood obsessed, these creatures of the night are a force to be reckoned with. They are very rarely found together in large groups to hunt; they choose to silently walk the ground in solitude, though after saying this, sometimes they may be spotted socializing with one and other. Vampires are the most valiant; their appearance varies greatly; the most typical appearance would be a pale iris pigment, dark hair- usually black or brown, though sometimes it is said that there are many who are fair haired. Though not all vampires are as cruel as they're made out to be- there are a few who are actually quite pleasant to others, their human like forms allow them to gain the trust of many mortals...

+ Demons/ Fallen Angels +
These creatures are quite similar to Vampires; they too possess a set of fangs, only theirs are a little smaller. Feisty, problematic and some what untrustworthy, Demons are reckless in their demeanor and hunts; sometimes they hunt as a group, others times on their own. What are most distinctive about these nightly creatures are their long, whip-like tails and their wings, enabling them to cover great distances in such a short period of time. Like Vampires, Demons come in various shapes and sizes; their wings may differ from rough and leathery, almost like a lizard's skin or they can be soft and silky, full of flowing feathers, usually of a dark hue for the fallen angels who lost their hearts and souls to evilness. The male of the species would have a much larger wings and wing span than that of a female, but females are more nimble to males when it comes to flying.

+ Orcs +
One of the worst tempered races on the planet; they are quite grotesque in appearance and their manners are disturbingly inhuman; they are a race not to be reckoned with. Loud, foul mouthed trouble makers that thrive on gambling, Orcs often find themselves in fights at the most inconvenient times. This race usually wander the lands in rather large gangs and they are very rarely seen alone, sometimes a few Demons and possibly the odd Troll and Vampire may be part of the small group. They may not be bright and intelligent, but they definitely make up for this let down with their strength in numbers...

+ Trolls +
Usually found deep within the caverns in the mountains, these large, quiet creatures go about their lives without much care. These are by far the heaviest and tallest of all species, meaning they have extremely slow mobility. What they lack in intelligence they make up for in strength. Their appearance gives them a calm, tranquil feel, which is sometimes misleading for many have quite bad tempers...

+ Dwarfs +
The small folk, the dwarfs range in all shapes and sizes. Not all dwarfs are evil; some actually choose to stay with the day walkers. These are the bravest of species and have great wisdom in blacksmithing. They join the trolls up in the caverns and vast valleys, working side by side with one and other to create small towns in the rocks.

+ Humans +
Sometimes the bravest race, sometimes the most foolish. Humans can range in any skin colour available, and they can have just about any hair color imaginable. They may not be very wise at most times, but they do often hold the knowledge to research and build advanced technology and buildings. One major weakness for humans is their selfishness and greed; some are very weak willed and will often buckle under pier pressure. Only a select few known as Slayers can stand any chance at stopping Vampires and Demons from using them and other races as a food source...

+ Elves +
The elves are the peace loving and keepers of the forests and green lands. They love to play music and are keen archers. They are very loyal to each other and to others and are majestic in battle. They look similar to humans, but they have quite large pointed ears, meaning they have a better sense of hearing. Not only that they have excellent eyesight and can spot an advancing army on the horizon a mile away; a great help for when they attack long range.

+ Faeries/Angels +
These mystical beings virtually own the skies (Along with Draconians). They live high up in the mountains, away from any sort of conflict and the majority of communication. They are rarely seen and choose to keep themselves to themselves. They are a must have in battle, their white magic skills come in handy whenever anyone is injured.

+ Feylyns (Neko People) +
These beings are half human, half cat creature. They have incredible reflexes and love nothing more than to relax and have a good time, though their laziness can be their weakness. They too live in the wood lands along with the elves in harmony.

+ Draconians +
Another large race. Draconians are wise, dragon like creatures that thirst for knowledge. Their behavior is usually calm and considerate, virtually similar to that of a kind elven person and they very rarely get angry. Like Demons, the Draconians have large leathery wings that are virtually twice their size; both males and females have the same sized wings. With human characteristics, they are able to walk upon their hind quarters, dressing, acting and talking like a regular human would but built a lot more huskily (see Garr/Garland from BOF3 for build and height reference). These creatures are quite powerful and strong, thus meaning they can sometimes be a little slow at walking around, but what they lack in speed upon the ground, they make up for in the skies.

+ Deylukas +
Rulers of the seas and creators of the vast oceans and lakes, the Deyluka race is a mythical if not legendary species that live deep with the great blue seas. Although they primarily they live in the waters it is known that these almost human looking creatures surface and wander the lands, but of course these sightings are often rare. They are a quiet and peaceful race that keep themselves to themselves and don’t bother with the war on land since has nothing to do with them. Of course if their homes are defiled in anyway due to pollution then they are indeed a fierce opponent.

Excelling in the water elements the Deyluka are great at magical attacks, but don't really come up to scratch in physical hand to hand combat. Their skin is a pale lilac/blue hue and their eye colour ranges from deep sapphire to flaming red, depending on the bloodline; the males themselves stand at 5"9" on average, where as the females are somewhat shorter at 5"1. (See Zora's from LoZ:OoT for reference to basic physical appearance)

+Drafurons+ (Can be used as pets for the Verso high ranked officials like the O'Learys)
Like Draconians these are also dragon like creatures, but these walk on upon all fours. This species is unknown to the majority of the world except for one kingdom who is purposely breeding them for their own needs. These creatures have been genetically modified to make them fierce and hostile in any situation, meaning they will cause havoc and chaos wherever they tread. They are quite agile beasts despite their build and have an extra feature; not only do they have wings to fly, but they can also swim across vast oceans with their large webbed haunches. Their skin is tough and thick, meaning it is almost impossible to puncture...unless they expose their soft bellies...

Not everyone in the world of Kavna is a pure breed; there are many who are cross breeds of two, even three races. Be aware that the maximum amount of mixed races you can use is 3!!!

Ephiney turned her head and looked behind her at the vast stretch of plains, covered now in snow, and pulled her wolfskin cloak tighter around herself. It looked like this would be a hard winter and she regretted she could not be with her people to see them through it. She reminded herself that her tribe had survived this long and they were strong even without their leader- they would be fine. It was more than that that bothered her, though. The events in Tatsuni lately had been troubling at the least, and there was no good way to face the problem. She hoped that Alicia would be satisfied with the warriors she had sent and not angry that Ephiney was not there herself. The warrioress had torn herself up deciding whether she should tell the Princess where she was going. It was a delicate situation, on that no tribal leader had yet faced, for what they believed was good for the country and what the ruler believed were always the same in time of need. Not so now, but Ephiney did not want to show Alicia disloyalty. Well, she had decided not to tell her what her plans were, especially since she wasn't even sure herself. Now she was just on the border of the Grassy Plains. It had taken two days to cross the hundred mile stretch as the snow had been driving in hard for most of it and she didn't want to push her horse under such conditions. She had trotted almost the whole way, finding very little time appropriate for gallops. Not that she was in a rush, she didn't even really know where she was going. Her current plan was to head into the Breechwood Forest. It seemed to her that if there were Vigilantes on the continent, that would be where they would make their base. It was sheltered, there were many tribes that were dedicated to Tatsuni and would likely give them aid. If they weren't there, well... she wasn't sure what she was going to do. It would take her two or three more days to reach the edge of the forest, and that was only if the weather stayed mild. Between the plains and the forest was a series of villages, so at least she would have a warm bed for the night and a stall for her mare. It was getting quite dark and she planned on stopping at the first inn she could find. About an hour later she finally came upon a tavern with rooms for rent. Dismounting, she left her horse outside and entered. Asking about a room and stall, the man behind the bar nodded. Ephiney tossed him a few coins and he sent out a boy to take care of her mount. It was always pleasant to visit Tatsuni towns, people were generally very friendly, and she orded an ale and took a seat at the bar. The tavern was small but warm, with a fire roaring and a few people who shot the tribal leader friendly smiles. She wore no sign of rank but her garb indicated she was from one of the groups of nomads who made their homes on the Grassy Plains. As she slowly warmed up she slid her cloak off her shoulders and let settle between the back of her chair and her hips. Anxious to avoid questions about her destination, she made polite conversation with the bar keep about the weather as she drank her ale. Warm and no longer thirsty, Ephiney finally headed up to her room, anxious to get to sleep and get an early start in the morning.

Rom jogged through the forest, ignoring the cold despite his light clothing. He was tracking a bounty, a very substantial one.

Silently, he recalled how he'd been given this mission...

***

A Zelusian Army Officer, accompanied by one of his men, stood in one of the private meeting rooms of the Dragon Paw Tavern in Aurora Mist. A few of the local crime bosses were in attendence, as well as some of the tougher and meaner bounty hunters, assassins, and other undesirables.

Rom strolled into the room, his staff leaned over his shoulder. As they saw him, people hurriedly made room for him as he casually walked to the front.

The Officer was speaking, outlining a large government bounty.
"-one of our own Officers has betrayed us! A war criminal and villian of the worst character, ex-Lieutenant Contessa Johanson is marked for death, as are any who aid her! She's a dangerous individual, backed up by more ex-military traitors!
The nation of Zelusia will be extremely grateful when this dangerous traitor is brought to justice."

"Will this gratitude be expressed in cash?" asked Rom, interrupting whatever the Officer was going to say next.

The Officer blinked; after one of the bosses whispered something in his ear, he looked at Rom and said, "Of course.". He named a sum, the price on Contessa's head, and upon the heads of those who aided her.
Rom raised an eyebrow. It was a large sum. "I'm in. Tell me more." he said. Several of the people sighed and left, hoping they could get a head start on any of the bounties left in the city. The Officer continued discussing details of the bounty...

***

He came across clearer tracks. Following them, he encountered a man, dressed in a somewhat worn Zelusian Army uniform. Peering into the darkness, the man managed to spot him.

"Who are you?" he called out warily, his hand on his sword.

"Who are you?" as Rom. "Some straggler?"

Realization dawned in the soldier's eyes. "You're another bounty hunter!" he said, drawing his sword and charging.

"Another?" said Rom, sighing. "I must be losing my touch." he said casually, suddenly thrusting his staff into the man's stomach as he man began a swing. "Tell me where she is." he asked as he parried the man's feeble attempt at a blow and slipped around him and pulled his head in a lock with his staff.

"I'd die before I betrayed her!" he managed to choke out, winded from the blow.

"Suit yourself." said Rom, breaking his neck with a quick twist and releasing the lifeless body to slump to the ground.

He took the man's sword and carved a killsign onto the man's face, then neatly sliced off his head.

"I'll get his head later. Contessa has by far the largest bounty." he thought to himself, walking off to continue searching for his mark.

Lance Feyton moves through Niana as quickly as he can, rushing from place to place. The next wave of Zelusian invaders is due soon, very soon, and he is the only tactician still in the city! Carrying a large sheaf of papers with him in his left hand and Hunter in his right, the gigantic draconian shunts peasants and soldiers alike out of his way in his haste to get from the inn to the command center. He sweeps into the tent just outside town, depositing his scrolls and maps and diagrams and defencive plans on the table completely unannounced. There's no time for that. The sooner the plans can be Okayed, the sooner the troops can get their orders and the sooner the fortifications can be erected. The axis of attack has changed completely, predicted to come from the south instead of the west as it had before, which leaves the former walls and foxholes and pitfalls and such completely useless. The one side completely unfortified! This was not unexpected, but it's still a pain to move everything. Again. And then there are the troops the young leader of the Ranath sent. Fifty of them. What are fifty troops going to do in a war of thousands? Even if they succeed in every battle they undertake, their contributions won't be worth anything if the army itself doesn't hold out. Oh well, at least they're mounted. They can be held in reserve to aid contingents of infantry, which make up most of the army. There is a most severe shortage of mounted troops.
"And the princess' emissary isn't due for another day!" Lance says exasperatedly, popping his helmet so he can scratch an itch over his left eyeridge. Placing his helmet on the table, he pulls out a pen and begins going over his plans for the ten-thousandth time. They can finish building those high hills on that side by nightfall, and sharpening stakes to put in the bottom of the pits behind those walls can be finished by the time the battle start if they begin doing it when they see the first enemy soldier. The hills will form a series of four bottlenecks, each of which will be covered by three divisions of archers and one ballista, and the intervening space will be covered by the remaining ten divisions and no ballistae, with footmen just behind them to bring about support as soon as the opposing army gets beyond the bottlenecks (as they inevitably will). That will buy them enough time to identify the strongest points of attack by the enemy and move mounted units (all four of them) into position to counter it. It looks like a perfectly sound plan, given the number of defending troops, but there has to be something they've missed!

She played her harp merrily as she walked down the moonlit path. Kairen had journeyed far across countless lands, but still had not found one satisfying battle, nor the man of her dreams. This quest was starting to bore her. With only her weapons, forest animals and a harp for company, there was little she could do. Night was always her favorite time, and with lightning, it was beauty. She began a different song, gentle and distinct.

In the near darkness, she heard bells... rattle rattle... no, not bells. They were chains.

She immediately ceased her song. "Hello...? Is anyone out there?" She knew there was... a dark angel of some sort. Kairen played a quick minor arpeggio sequence on her harp, hoping to attract whoever was out there.

((Hmm, this is something of a difficulty. By placing Lance where his character says he should be, I have inadvertantly put myself on the opposite side of the world from everyone else. I would greatly appreciate some suggestions and such as to how to fix this, because I would rather not rp alone for as long as it would logically take for everyone to move over a continent.))

((The thing about it is that Niana is the only place that it makes sense for him to be, with the possible exception of the port town supplying it, and that's even further away than he is now. I'm not going to fall out of character, even if it puts me in a difficult situation like this. I feel like it would be a severe wrong to Lance after making him so in-depth. Though, actually, I've just realized that he isn't quite as far away as I thought. If I could come up with a reason for him to take a group of soldiers out into the wilderness, like to ambush the enemy army, and then say he got separated from them partway through, I could also say that his pathfinding skills are less than stellar. From there, if we could take a few liberties with the location of various places, I could say that Lance wandered into the forest where wherever you people are. This all, of course, hinges on exactly what forest you people are in. If you're in Breechwood, then there goes that plan right out the window. If you're in just some random winter forest, then this'll work fine.))
