The ever dreaded topic you hate to see in the normal AMC.
Here, both sides can talk about the Pros and Cons to both.
Outright bashing of one another's opinions will not be tolerated.
This is a mature and civilized debate. Leave your clubs and axes at the door.
You don't have to be one or the other, you could be on both sides for certain reasons.

I prefer dubs, mostly because I simply do not enjoy reading the television. I have a hard time paying attention to multiple things, so at times I miss on screen action while reading subs, especially when there are a lot of subs. It is possible for me to pause the move to read this, yes, but that disrupts from the flow. Why should i have to pause in order to get in idea of what's going on? Also, I've gotten quite attached to many English voice actors over the years, and I will sometimes watch a show in English just to hear their voices. (For example, I think the Saiyuki dub isn't very good, but I continue to watch it in English because I like Greg Ayres so much.)
I understand there are some faults to dubs. Some of them are bad. I for one refuse to watch the Hikaru no Go dub track because I find it to be gawd-awful. Also a Japanese-speaking acquaintance of mine pointed out that there is a rhythm to the Japanese language that cannot be easily repeated into an English script.
Basically I like both, but if I had to choose one over the other, dubs all the way.

Hey, what do you know, a new thread. Anyway, I prefer subs mostly because of context. In the dubbed versions they have to match the English voices to the Japanese lip movements and thus ruin the flow, order, and content of the phrases. They may also add something to fill in space or cut out parts if the English can be said in a shorter phrase than the Japanese.
I understand why some people hate the subs because of reading the screen. The fact of the matter is that some people can't naturally read like that and it makes them uncomfortable. I generally prefer the Japanese voices though for the infractions. The English VO's just can't do the same. They're are some animes though that I'll watch in English AND Japanese because the words flash by way to fast, but I'm trying to catch the extra content.

I like the Japanese and English versions equally most of the time. generally both are well done now a days.

I mostly prefer dubs nowadays. I much prefer to just sit back and watch something rather than having to read it...I have other reasons as well, but I'm too lazy to elaborate.
There are times though...were I'll hate a certain version of a show for very little reason. Certain voices urk me terribly, though I cannot for the life of me figure out why...Like Jessica Boone when she does little kid voices....or the Japanese voice of Tessa from FMP. I find both fairly painful to listen to.
