Temperature: 60 Degrees Fahrenheit

The day is cloudy, gray clouds hovering in the sky, yet the light of the sun is still able to give a good amount of light to the surrounding land. As one travels through the forest, they see that it's not any different from any other forest. Many trees, the sounds of animals coming from distances both near and far, the usual breeze of the incoming spring air passing across the body.

This all sustains until one reaches a part of the forest where fog lingers. Just standing near the barrier of the fog brings about a cold chilling feeling of fear, as if just seeing it brought red alarms up in a person's mind. And then stepping through into the fog, that is when they will hear the gentle sounds of the forest die. A creepy feeling will come into play, where the sounds of crows enter into the melody, along with some other indescribable faint howl hitting into the wind. The color of the grass and vegetation will look paler in color, the life of it somehow getting drained from it. This was not a normal forest any longer. This felt more like a graveyard.

From within the great shadows of this forgotten forest, a silver grey portal slowly opens allowing Zantara to teleport to the location, shield strapped to his right forearm and sword in his left at the ready.

"I'll have to remember to tell those fools at headquarters to adjust the eipment. That felt almost like my skin was being peeled off with a dull knife."

He muttered to himself as he looked around, taking in the surroundings.

Wearing a strange bodysuit of dark grey leather that seemed to absorb the light around him, Zantara went down through the inventory of his possessions making sure that he didn't forget anything he might just need. Dropping down into a crouch as he finally felt safe for the moment, The Count switched out his shield and sword for the folded compound bow he had in a small bag hanging from his back. Sliding the shield and sword onto his back in easy reach with the dual quivver crisscrossing under the shield so that it could be reached over his right shoulder, Zantara began to quick process of putting together his compound bow.

Standing up straight after jst a few minutes with his bow at the ready and a single arrow in the slide, Zantara felt.... ready for the moment.

Glad that he'd washed his scales and armor with a scent reducing formula, he measured the temperature around him using one of the sensors in his mask and began to lower his external body temperature to match it perfectly by lowering the amount of scales over his body that he had open at any practicular time.

With these two iomportant items complete, he took in the surroundings once ore and desided on a direction that he felt was most appropriate for him to go.

South

Zantara begins south, but unfortunately, his right foot already begins the first of his many obstacles in this deranged forest. A brown rope is tripped, and coming down from above comes a swinging vertical log lined with spikes ready to strike at the target. If he doesn't move out of the way, it'll give him a few holes in his body to worry about.

Upward Mobility. Matthew knew well enough how things like this went down.

He had taken to the treetops as soon as the forest starts. People tend to look out for Eye level. They tend to trap and patrol the ground level. Few bothered to look up at the trees.

Plus... he loved the benefits of the high ground.

He couldn't quite help but smile. The day was cold, but his clothes did a good job keeping the chill out. He moved silently along the canopy, his bow out, arrow at the ready. His bespecled eyes kept sweeping the Canopy, and the Forest floor ahead of him.

He made slow progress, with steady, measured steps. But it was still progress.

Camouflaged and silenced, he took a deep breath, wondering how far before he would find these Demons.

Oh really.

Feeling the rope cutting into his ankle, Zantara just sighed slightly at the simplistic nature of the trap. Looking up at the motion above his head, the Count simply threw himself back the way he'd come, sliding on the curved surface of his rounded shield out of the way.

Holding his bow close to his chest to make sue not to damage the highly important weapon, he breathed a small sigh of relief with the spiked log crossing over his head as it began it's inevitable rise upwards before reaching the apex and coming back down.

Well at least he already knew what was behind him.

Waiting for the log to stop moving before coming to his feet, The Count hoped that the next trap would at least be worth using his powers on.

"Well let us see what we can gather from all of this."

Setting his bow to the side as he looked at the simple trap, Zantara pulled a dagger from his thigh and began to cut down the trap, gathering up the two pieces of 30 foot rope which his opponent had so kindly offered as well as looking the trap over for any interesting signs which exsplained who might have put it together.

But all of this was happening just in case another trap wasn't set off to put Zantara on the defensive even more so after the first one.

IF that was the case.... well then Zantara would improvise and just work up from a prone position.

Matthew manages to proceed about 30 yards before a terrible stench starts to enter into his nostrils. Any who knew the smell of sulfur and mold would find familiarity in this scent. Below, a bright yellow jello-looking blob is moving along the ground, 2 cubic feet in size. Another of the same size, bright red, will about five feet west of the yellow blob. And another one, bright green in color, lied a little more than ten feet south of the other two. For now, they seemed to not notice the man in the tree.

__________

Zantara manages to avoid the log by a mere foot as it swings, going up to its peak in the opposite direction, a creaking noise coming from it, acting as a pendulum on the branch above. The log does come to a stop, though Zantara will have to climb up the seven foot log's spiky exterior first if he wishes to reach the rope and cut it down.

After making sure to cut down the log first by cutting the rope which held it up off of the ground on each side and climbing up the tree to remove the ropes which had attached the log, etc... Zantara climbs back down and wraps up the rope tightly in two bundles, tieing themm in quick release knots on his belt, making sure to balance them on each hip.

Picking up his bow once more, the Count continued to walk silently between the tree's going slow and steadily South still always testing the ground in front of him for Pit falls and other rope traps.

This probably would have ben a good time to have a Bag of Holding, but alas Zantara had not expected to ned such a thing. Perhaps when his son showed up, he'd bring one instead.

Listening to the dozen or so voices of people shouting in these woods, the Young mercenary stayed almost thirty feet behind his father, The Count, for obvious reasons. Following the same track of thought as Mathew AKA staying up in the tree's, Estoc smiled slightly as he watched what was going on.

At least his father hadn't lost any of his skills in his old age.

Wearing a guille suit over his black kevlar bodysuit which matched perfectly with the surrounding tree's, Estoc jumped forward, landing on another tree with his long claws digging deply into the bark as he bear hugged the tree.

Looking around from his high perch, Estoc closed his ees for a brief moment, sending out his mind to "scan" for the foes in the surrounding area. Perhaps he would be lucky and find them before any others.

A ha!

Demons. Blob types. Most likely not intelligent. Little better than guard dogs. Probably worse than guarddogs, with worse senses, Matthew thought.

It wasn't like he was a Hunter, and knew these things. Or maybe it was exactly that.

He smiled slowly, as he continued to inch along, being careful not to drop anything on the oozes by picking sturdy branches with little loose material hanging off it.

He could have killed them, sure. Or tried.

But he rather not set off the alarms at this point. So he kept his arrow at the ready, and stalked South, towards the supposed sorce of the infestation according to his sources.

He didn't pick up on his inching speed until he thought he was safely beyond the Demons, about 80 feet.

[Zantara, Estoc, 970 Yards Left]

Zantara and son will be able to move about another 15 yards before a pull comes at Zantara's right foot as he brings it down to test the ground for trap. A brown rope quickly restricts at his ankle, and begins pulling straight up toward the canopy. It came so fast that unfortunately Zantara will not be able to avoid this trap (blame the dice, even with a searching modifier I gave you sweatdrop ), and would now be hanging upside down, ten feet off the ground, with his arms and hair hanging low, and probably dropping any loose things on his person.

[Arcturus, 910 Yards Left]

The blobs do not pick up on Matthew's presence, allowing him to continue south. So far, the environment was keeping with its quiet, foggy scene. No sign of an enemy, nor anything else of the ordinary. However, after 60 yards of moving, you will see a log connected to some branches, spiked and seeming to be connected by some brown rope. The log is being held horizontal, and seems to be some sort of trap.

"I must be getting old."

Zantara thought to himself as he dropped the bow once again, allowing one of his hidden daggers to drop from up his sleeve and down into his right palm. Bringing himself up to grab the rope in his free left hand, the Count cut the simple rope and allowed his body to slowly fall back into the correct direction.

Still holding onto the rope, He swung over to the left against the tree and dropped, making sure to land close to the tree's roots just incase there was a pitfall that was sprung by the rope trap.

Looking over his shoulder at his son, he made a sort of beconing motion as if to say "What the hell?". Sliding his dagger back up the sleeve, he waited patiently.

Pulling his left hand talons out of the tree bark he was gripping, Estoc bit back a sigh as he focused on lifted the bow and arrow of his fathers from the ground and sending it into Zantara's hand by use of his Force Abilities.

Once that was done, he began to circle around the tree before pushing off, flying through the air to the next and then the next, pulling parallel to Zantara's position but still with about 20 yards in between the two of them.

Making sure his guille was still in place, Estoc waited patiently for this extremely slow pace of his fathers to speed up and get on with it.

Zantara was now free from his rope trap, the piece swinging in mid air. It seemed traps were currently Zantara's enemy in this forest, but alas, worse things than mere rope lied in wait for these two adventurers.

VICTOLY!

Matthew was past the Blob Patrol, and now found another 'trap' of sorts before him. He couldn't help but smile. His presumption seemed to be right, that had to be aimed at ground level, just like the blob demons were.

Spotting it up ahead, he picked a new path. He wasn't going to disarm it. Nor was he going to go anywhere near it. He looked ahead, trying to find the pathway that would work best for him in the canopy before resuming his slow crawl through the treetops.

Where was that Silver Haired Demoness? Was she even working for this chump?

Catching his bow and the single arrow as they flew towards him, the Count was finally getting fet up with all of these little annoying traps. Reaching into the pouch on his belt, he pulled out a small scrap of cloth which was torn from the mask of a servant of his.

Tucking his bow over his shoulder and the arrow back in it's quiver, he began to cast the spell better known as Find Traps. Only taking one turn to cast it, this certain 2nd level spell almost tripled his ability to spot traps in front of him for the next 25 minutes.

Now that was out of the way, he pulled the bow back in his hands, placed the arrow in the slide and began to run forward at a dash.

If he came across any more traps, they would glow to his eyes a soft silver along their entire length, unless his magic seemed to fail him or he didn't "roll" a high enough Spot Check even with his magical enhancement.
