Jason' eyes flashed something akin to pity, but his chisled features remained expressionless. He nodded, and began to gently help Selene up, then lifting her across his chest to carry her. "To the infirmary then?" He asked, looking into her eyes, concern still lingering in his voice as he spoke.

STORM hefted the Hybrid over his shoulder, and began limping down the hallway towards the Infirmary, several of his men in tow. The rest of his men, along with the remaining marines, began to clean up the mess.

Gritting her teeth against the pain, Selene rested heavily against Jason as he helped her to stand, her un-injured arm wrapping around the marine’s neck instinctively as he lifted her into his arms, providing the vampiress with a small sense of comfort.

“Yes, the infirmary” Selene confirmed, briefly meeting Jason’s gaze before turning away once more. His concern, although oddly touching, irritated the woman. She was stronger than she appeared, and she would heal, of that she was certain, thus his worry seemed misplaced, unnecessary.

The vampiress was distinctly uncomfortable, or rather, this situation was making her feel uncomfortable. She’d made a habit out of relying only upon herself, and those who had gained trust; yet, Jason was neither. Given time, Selene had little doubt he would prove himself trustworthy, but that time had not yet come to pass. Michael was the only person she trusted, wholly and completely, at least, she had – now, Selene’s certainty and faith in the hybrid had blurred.

Holding herself still as the marine navigated toward the infirmary, Selene’s reverted chestnut eyes surveyed the mess Michael had created, her gaze passing over the faces of the marines, and the masks of the newly arrived STORM troops.

“Who are your ...friends?” Selene inquired, speaking once more in her cold monotone.

looking around the room " hmmm well there is deffianatly no sign of a struggle so we can assume either he left of his own accord or is simply elsewhere at the moment. " he thought to himself. looking back toward Lilith " i dont mind carring you ... after all your injuries are still quite bad.however if your pride will not allow it i will assist you by being your wall to lean on. " he smiles getting up off his knee and extends his hand to her.

" come let us go look for your father. he cant be too far dont you agree?" his hand extended to her waiting for her to take it. " dont worry i wont let you fall. as long as i am with you, i will do what i can to help and protect you until you are well. " his smile and his eyes showed that his intentions were honest.

Jason sighed. "Ever heard the phrase 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'?" He asked rhetorically, shaking his head and chuckling slightly as he carefully took her into the infirmary, and gently layed her down, STORM and his men strapping down Micheal as he did so.

He gave her a nervous smile. "Is there anything you'd like me to bring you?" the Marine asked, knowing that she wouldn't want someone waiting on her, but also knowing that it was nessecary with her broken body.

“Why are you helping me?” Lilith asked warily, her icy eyes narrowing as she took Dorian’s words and his ‘reassuring’ smile. Although her memory of what had occurred in the alleyway was blurred, the lycan doubted very much that she had done anything to warrant the stranger’s seemingly selfless assistance.

With the question still lingering between them, the young woman grimaced and reached for the man’s hand, gritting her teeth against the pain as she awkwardly climbed to her feet. Leaning heavily against him, Lilith took a moment to recover her composure, before nodding weakly in reply to Dorian’s question.

“There have been some...developments...lately” Lilith explained, continuing to regard Dorian with suspicion, “so, my father may be seeing to matters in the den’s main chamber – further down the hall”

A bare inclination of her head indicated Selene’s acknowledgement of Jason’s words, his attempts at humour, her mood remaining dark despite his efforts.

Exhaling sharply as Jason set her down, the vampiress carefully propped herself up with her uninjured arm, her expression guarded as she watched the masked men strapped Michael down. Turning away, Selene sighed, hanging her head for a moment, overwhelmed; yet, as quickly as the weakness appeared, it was gone, her apathetic mask returning to cloak her features.

“My left knee and the joints in the same arm are dislocated” Selene stated clinically, fixing her chestnut orbs upon Jason. “In order for them to heal correctly, I am going to need you to force them back into place” the vampiress continued, a faint flickering of pain passing through her eyes at the thought of what was to come.

His exoression softenedhe knew that she must be hurting inside. Hs sighed, leaning in close, gently taking hold of her arm, then kissing her, simultaniously popping the joint back in. He pulled away from the kiss quickly, blinking and turning to her knee, that operation being less painful, simply popping it back. He stood there and looked at her, his eyes darting from her head to her boots, taking her in before he sat down next to her. "need to talk?" he asked.

Shifting his eyes away from her for a moment. " i couldnt very well leave you there to die ... its just not my nature ... you also ... remind me of someone i knew many years ago " he snickered a but " both in personality and in appearance. " looking back he smiled " besides what kind of man would i be if i didnt step in and helped you hmm?"

Carefully holding her close so she wouldnt have to strain he gently walked with her through the hallways towards the main chamber. " i know little of your father " he spoke quietly " only what was said in the storys among the other immortals ... the vampires say he was a lycan monster yet the lycans say he was a hero ... " he looked a little puzzled for a moment " i personally think he was someone looking to find a place for his people ... im sure thats closer to the truth hmm?" he asked smiling a bit.

" by the way ... what kind of developments where you talking about earlier ... the war is still going on i am sure of that ... what could be so bad that would change the tides?" he wasnt sure if she would answer him or not seeing as he wasnt dirrectly involved in the war with either side. although she didnt really know what he was. he was confident she would eventually find out .

“What makes you think I couldn’t have handled myself?” Lilith replied sharply, glaring darkly at Dorian. His pity infuriated her, as did her dependence upon him. He had saved her life; there was no escaping that fact, despite the lycan’s ‘valiant’ attempts. Continuing to glower, the young woman fixed her eyes ahead, gruffly asking – “Who was she? The woman I supposedly remind you of?”

Biting her lip against the pain as they walked, Lilith managed an awkward shrug in response to his question. The reality was the lycan knew little of her father; she had spent her time being angry at him for his abandonment, his deception that she had never bothered to seek the truth behind Lucian’s campaign. “Yeah, that sounds about right” Lilith murmured in agreement, hardly sounding convincing.

As Dorian posed his questions, seeking information about the recent changes affecting the war, the young woman laughed, the sound weak and undeniably strained. “You think I’m that easy...?” Lilith questioned, quirking an eyebrow as she turned her eyes to the man. “If you were meant to know, you’d would – clearly, you lack of information should tell you something” the lycan continued, an icy edge entering her tone. Sighing, Lilith shook her head, the tone of her voice easing as she added – “Besides, it isn’t my place to say anything. There are others deeper involved then myself, you’ll have to butter them up for your answers”

Selene’s mind struggled, grappling in vain to understand what had just happened, drowning beneath the weight of deciding which had come as a greater surprise – Jason’s kiss, or the pain of mending her injured limbs.

The kiss..., the vampiress decided, suppressing another cry of agony as the marine forced her knee back into joint.

The vampiress understood pain, was intimately aware of its nuances, and it brought her a strange yet familiar comfort; but this, these romantic expression, filled Selene with great unease. They were new, unexplored, alien – in these matters, the centuries old woman was a novice, floundering and overwhelmed.

As Jason looked her over, Selene’s stomached knotted, her brow furrowing, betraying her anxiousness, her uncertainty.

“What was that?” the vampiress asked, managing to speak her words evenly, calmly, despite her inner turmoil.

Jason frowned slightly, but his face evened out and he smiled. "The kiss? An old Navy-nurse trick. I figured it'd have the same effect when a male did it to a Female...It's a surprise thing. Takes your mind off the pain." He said calmly, his smile growing slightly. He then frowned a little. "That, and I've wanted to do that for a while." his smile returned, his expression now cheerful. Either he was flattering her, or telling the truth. Or Both.

Jason decided it was both. "Anything else?" he asked, cocking his head to look at the beautiful vampiress again.

Smirking slightly." dont missunderstand ... i know you are a strong woman and more then able to care for yourself ... i just saw that you were out numbered and they were not normal soldiers ... that i could tell by thier scent. Im surprised you didnt notice to be honest. Anyways enough of that ... " his smirk faded from his face as he started to talk about the woman Lilith reminded him of.

"you remind me of a young lycan i once knew many years ago ... she and i were very close ... i saw her as a little sister, however she saw me as more at the time ... she confessed her feelings to me one night and i was speechless ... i couldnt reply... this hurt her very much and she ran off into the night ... i chased after her but she lost me in the forest. " his eyes shifted to the floor, the pain in his eyes was obvious even though he was trying hard to hide it. it was apparent that he cared a great deal about the young woman. he lifted his head and looked over to Lilith trying to make it more comfortable for her to walk.

"By the time i found her she was battling several lycan hunters ... they were armed with much silver and although she put up a brave fight ... she couldnt survive that much silver. she was killed before my eyes. in fact it was very similar to the way you almost lost your own life ... i managed to take care of the hunters but it was far too late for her ... but enough about that ... painful memories should be left in the past ... only remember the good ones right? " forcing a smile to his face he tried to shake the memories of the event from his mind. knowing they will always haunt him he didnt have time to regret the past.

heh, it seams that you yourself dont know much about your father ... well if its any ease off your mind i only know my fathers name ... ive never met him. i heard stories about him but thats as far as it goes honestly. anyways when we find him we can ask about him. im sure he will be willing to tell.

Her tone and phrasing caused Dorian to chuckle a bit. " i see well then i guess i better educate myself a little more. or at least ask people who acctually know something." he said with a playful tone obviously trying to lighten the mood although he wasnt the best at cracking a joke. his voiced became more serious once again " i understand that i must be trusted more to be able to gain that kind of information ... but you cant blame a guy for trying eh? " he smiled quickly then turned into a meeting room. "maybe he is in here doing some work hmm?"

Had she been able to walk, Selene would have quickly distanced herself from Jason, from his feelings, and from hers. But she couldn’t, and instead the vampiress stiffened, drawing into herself and away from the man. He unnerved her. His brutal honesty, his open demeanour, they set her on edge, provoked the defences that she had long ago erected around her heart.

“I am not your wife” Selene uttered, her tone cold, distant yet harsh. Falling back on her ‘strengths’, her centuries of harboured anger, of resentment, the vampiress’ eyes darkened, her countenance quickly transforming into a mask of indifference - concealing her earlier moment of weakness, burying her tumultuous feelings, and forcing aside her ache at the sting she was about to deliver.

Finally, in the same icy tone, Selene continued.

“Your wife is dead, along with your unborn child. Do not for a second think me a surrogate, a replacement for her. We may have shared a physical resemblance, but the similarities end there. You would do well to remember, Jason, that my hands are stained with blood; do not think I would hesitate to dirty them again”

Fixing her dark, unreadable, orbs on Jason, the vampiress’ posed the marine a final question – “So, tell me, is there anything else?”

“What makes you think I didn’t notice?” Lilith grumbled beneath her breathe, her lips thinning into a rather distinctive scowl. The small things often get overlooked when one is fighting for their life, the lycan’s inner voice added, further justifying the rather important detail she had failed to notice.

As the pair continued to hobble their way through the den, Dorian quietly proceeded to answer Lilith’s earlier question – much to the young lycans surprise. Had she been in his position, she would have rather ‘politely’ told herself to go jump, and that hell would more than likely freeze over before she’d reveal anything. Yet, despite the obvious pain it caused him, Dorian continued.

“It’s the painful ones that make us who we are; they are the memories that give us purpose, direction” Lilith replied softly, her rough demeanour easing for a moment in the wake of the man’s confession. “I wouldn’t trade my memories, the good and the bad, for anything – although I’m sure they are many that wish I would, might make me easier on the palette” the lycan continued, managing to offer Dorian a wry smile.

When the conversation shifted toward Lucian, Lilith’s guarded nature quickly returned. “I know about my father, every lycan does. He is the great hero of our people, the one who freed from slavery, from the oppression of the vampires. What more is there to know, right?” the young woman replied icily, a dry laugh punctuating her words.

“I know plenty. I’m just not inclined to tell you” Lilith retorted sharply, a faint hint of amusement evident in her words. “No, I suppose we can’t hold your attempts against you can we?” the young lycan continued, leaning heavily against Dorian as they entered the meeting room.

It was then that Lilith paused, frowning. “There are people here, others, unfamiliar ones” she uttered in a hushed tone, failing to hide the sudden anxiety the invaded her system.

not really surprised by her cold reply, Dorian just let it go " i see its going to take some doing to gain your trust " he smiled at her and then shruged lightly. " thats fine ... i enjoy a challange " he laughed lightly, obviously trying to joke around to lighten the mood a bit.

"I suppose i would have to speak with your father and the rest of the resistance in order to gain some form of trust. i have been out of the war for some time so there is alot that i am unaware of. " he knew that it would take time and some effort on his part to be able to gain trust and information to be brough back up to speed.

he didnt wish to go to marcus as he may be reconized and he didnt want to be draged into the war without being fully prepared. marcus in his hybred state could easlily kill him if he wasnt ready and had some form of help. although he wasnt ready to reviel who he really was to Lilith he wanted to be as honest as possible. he figure if she found out it could complicate things more so he will just keep it to himself for now.

"unfamiliar eh? ... hmmm " he spoke in a very quiet voice . leaning against the wall he tilted his head toward the meeting room . he slowly crept towards the door with lilith still on his arm. he glanced threw the crack in the door to see if he could see anyone.
