"I think we're good for today. How about you see if the elders need anything?" She saw disapointment in his eyes, but he needed to know that that was how an aprentice lived. She knew she was being hard, but he'll apreciate it when tomarrows patrol will be funner than one now would be.

Blackpaw was disapointed, but he listened. Since there were no elders in the Meadow Clan he went to the medicine cat den and asked Windy, "Do you need any help?"

"Could you bring me a piece of fresh kill darling?" She could see Blackpaw had nothing to do. She wasn't too hungry so she decided she would share with Summerpaw.

Blackpaw ran out of the den and grabbed the vole he had caught. Then he brought it to the medicine cat and put it in front of her. "Do you need any moss?" he asked. He was bored and wanted to run or hunt or help the medicine cat collect herbs.

"Okay then. You already know a bit about the clan structure, Leader, Deputy, Medicine Cat and apprentice, Warriors, Apprentices, Queens, Elders and Kits. What's next is the patrols. A clan is to send out two border patrols daily, one in the morning and one in the evening. Hunting patrols are similar, just sent out on an average of 3 times a day. This amount will vary depending on the season. Usually more hunting patrols are sent out during Leaf-bear as the prey is more scarce." Summerpaw mewed, trying to remember what she learned as an apprentice. It was weird teaching a cat about things that she's known her entire life. ((And I checked Firestar's Quest ans it said that med cat meetings were every quarter moon.))

Windy took in the information greedily. It was all so structured, and put together. She marveled at how civilized it seemed. Being a rogue, it was every cat for yourself, no food no life. With every cat looking out for another you were more likely to stay alive."What do the kits do?" She asked curiously. she was intrigued and she wanted to ask more, but she didn't know how. It was like every cat was born with the information implanted in their minds. She felt as if she was impared having to learn it all.

"Well, the kits listen to the Queens, most importantly their mother. This is how they come to know of the Warrior Code. This is the code that ALL cat's follow, leader down to the kits. Well anyways, back on topic. Sometimes the kit's father comes in and tells the about clan life, unless there's no father. By no father I mean that he was eather killed or droven out. When the kits are six moons old they become apprentinces utill they are good enough to become warriors. The warriors are the muscle of the clan. They hunt, go on patrols and protect the Elders, kits and Queens. With out them, there's no clan at all." Summerpaw explained, thinking about what it was like being a kit. Spottedpath retired to her den to rest. The hunting lesson with Blackpaw took a lot out of her to do.

"Wow." There was nothing more to say. everything was so amazing. Windy wondered who put this all together in the first place. it was all so structured."How is a leader apointed leader?" She was so curious about every little detail about clan life.

"A leader was a deputy before the leader before him or her died. When the old leader died, the deputy goes to the place here the connection with StarClan is the strongest. In our case, this is the Moonpool. There is where the deputy receives 9 lives and the suffix 'star'. This is when the deputy becomes a leader." Summerpaw mewed, understanding Windy's curiosity.

"Oooooooh" Another structured part of living. Her eyes were wide with amazment at it all. And now she was going to be a part of it! She needed the ground excitedly like a kit. She was so excited! Then she thought,"Thank you so much for teaching me this Summerpaw. I must be annoying for not knowing it." She was afraid that she thought she was ignorant for not knowing this information.

Summerpaw chuckled. Windy was her mentor and in a way her apprentice. She thought of what else to tell her."Now, before you ask about this I should tell you. Hundreds of moons ago, there were three clans of large cats, several tail-lengths high. They roamed the forest, not owned by any twolegs. The clans were LepordClan, LionClan and TigerClan. They all had special abilities that allowed them to live in their territory. This ment that one clan could never live in another's territory." she mewed, remembering the story she was told when she was a kit in ThunderClan.

Windy lapped up the stroy like a young aprentice. It was all so new to her. And so was interacting with other cats. But she knew territorys very well. If a rogue were to wander onto the territory of a gang chances were they wouldn't come out in one peice or at all. She shuddered remembering when she helped a cat who had a run in with a gang in a twoleg ally. The cat was barly alive when it came to her. She was just barly able to asve the cat but was finally succesful and he walked away with no tail and only one ear.

"Taking a walk down memory lane?" Summerpaw mewed, noticing the slight shudder, "We're good for moss Blackpaw but you can go out and get some. We want to be ready for Leaf-bear."She noted on the amount of moss in the corner. Enough to last the season, but they would be running low near Leaf-fall
Spottedpath padded out of the warriors' den an hour later. She felt refreshed and renewed. During her nap she had thought about Runningleaf. As much as she wished he was here, he wasn't.

She nodded and then explained."Territories are really important when your a rogue. since I was good with herbs and things like that cats used to seek me out when they got hurt. i once encountered a cat who accidently wandered onto a gangs territory. let me tell you it wasn't a pretty sight. Poor thing barly got out with his life. Left me with only a stub of a tail and one ear. Not to mention the array of scars left all over his body. I'll never forget that." She shuddered again at the thought.

"I'm amazed he lived!" she mewed, her calm face almost masking her suprise."Reminds me of Spottedpath's kit. Her life was torn out of her like a knife through butter. It still haunts her to this day. This is why she has dedicated her life to protecting those who need protecting." she mewed, keeping the tears from her eyes as she pictured the young golden she-cat's fur being stained with blood. She pictured Spottedpath over the limp body, crying as she turned to face the rouge. Her mind flashed to when she looked at the golden fur being placed under the earth. Tears streamed down her face as this memory came out. It was a sad day for the clan.
