Faolán was still sat there looking bored. He had been there for what seemed like an eternity and even though he had been strictly instructed not to go outside, he really wanted to. The furthest he'd ever gotten was the den's entrance and if Zev could go exploring then why couldn't he? It wasn't fair and now that Zev was asleep this was Faolán's chance; his only chance. He was out as quick as he could be. Where were the others? They were nowhere to be seen. This was as far as Faolán dare go. He decided that the best thing he could do was sit outside the den and hope that the others would return.

Blood Drenched Romeo The Lone Wolf As the sun began to set, Romeo glided past a large group of seeming meaningless boulders converged into a circle. To any passing creature it was just a large rock mass, nothing important nor special about it. But to the young wolf, it was home. Climbing his way onto the largest boulder in the mass he turned his head to the setting sun, the colors bouncing off his amber eyes as he got lost in thought. Soon the moon crept up and shone her gleaming teeth, a threat to all in the Waste that time was short should they have stumbled into the Barren area on accident.
Romeo Knew the barren Waste better than any wolf, after all, he was born here. His thoughts were broken by a howl, from where he knew not. Most wolves dared not venture here, so he was not usually threatened by a hostile takeover of any pack. Jumping into the middle of the circle of rocks he dug a little into the soft dirt, inhaling the smell of his home from birth.
His mother had raised himself and his two sisters in the waste, her being banished here to die after attacking her alpha. She taught Romeo the tricks to survive this always hostile area; where water was, where food would enter briefly in their curiosity, long enough for Romeo to attack and kill. She showed them how to fight and how to survey a situation before it got out of hand.
He lost his two sisters to a pack nearby, and he had never saw them again. His mother died the winter last, from age and starvation. He had mourned her death, but knew in the end it was he alone who ruled The Barren Waste. He alone.
He rose up as he heard the distant howls again, his teeth showing in irritation. Time to secure his territory from others who would rip it from him.

It wasn't long, however, that Kaytar began to grow impatient of Riyora, and decided to begin a trek back to the Den. He scooped up the fawn again, heading North, where the forest began to creep up alongside a small, rocky mountain. The deer had fled elsewhere on the plain and watched him as nervous specks. The shadow of the trees embraced this lithe, muscular grey canine, and the grass soon flattened out to become dirt, leaves, and twigs. Very soon, the bloodiest parts of the kill were becoming a little stained with tiny flecks of earth and had attracted two persistent flies. Kaytar trudged onwards, not making much of a sound despite his burden.
[Unrealistic time speedy-uppings]
After several patient minutes of trotting through the forest, Kaytar had reached the foot of the great mountain. Up ahead, dense ferns, bushes, and slanted branches almost concealed the den entrance. Standing in it was Faolan, Zev's adopted son, and a Cascade Mountain wolf - different to the other greys. Kaytar had rarely seen this elusive youngster, for he never left the den. Little was known about him. The wolf dropped the fawn and made an "uff" in greeting to the orange cub.
* * *
As Iarni had heard the voices of the peculiar blue-and-black wolves, so did Riyora notice their bizarre fur stark against the greenery. Like all wolves, she made a small amount of noise, yet just enough to avoid being found. She lowered herself into a hunting-crouch and creeped forwards, keeping to the shadows. Her pale underside was painfully noticeable, but still she remained undetected. Then she saw a little gleam under a holly bush, and found Iarni staring desperately at her. The clever cub had used the diamond in her forehead as a tiny beacon to her sister, and at such an angle it would have been missed by the blue intruders. Riyora edged closer, completely absorbed by the sheltering foliage so that she, too, became invisible.
Without using words, she flattened her ears, and the two wolves turned and began to creep back out of the holly and the other bushes. But the tip of a low-hanging branch embedded itself in the juvenile's unyielding hide, and snapped as she pushed forwards. They froze at the small noise.

Faolán gave a loud yip in reply to Kaytar a few seconds after he'd directed a vocal sound to him. He knew he shouldn't have been outside the den but being in there all your life isn't exactly the best thing ever. Perhaps Zev would even forgive him some day because just like her he didn't like to hide in the shadows all the time, though it did have its uses. He raised his head up to look at the sky which darkness was slowly overwhelming and sucking the light from its canvas and blotting stars around it. This was trouble because now seeing other wolves around made Faolán want to go further away from the den, and doing so in the dark was a very bad idea. Fortunately though, so far he was managing to restrain himself. But for how long? He didn't know. It was difficult to tell.
For some time Faolán sat in silence being unable to say or do anything without thinking about what would happen because of it. Kaytar seemed like a startling character to Faolán and so he wasn't sure of how he'd react to things. Faolán eyed Kaytar's bushy tail for some time, wondering that if he were to anger too much then perhaps he would attempt to suffocate him with it... and/or even sit on him because he was so tiny and helpless. The things that run through a little one's mind is quite surprising and it takes quite a lot of comprehension. In this case though, Faolán was just being overreactive and it was excusable this time simply because this was his first time outside and anything could have happened.
Even though his senses weren't as strong as they would be with age, Faolán could tell that there were strangers around. He knew a little about Kaytar and that he was a member of their pack, but four other wolves were lurking in the forest further away and this concerned Faolán a little. Why are they here? Why hasn't Mum torn them to shreds yet? Who are they? the numerous questions tugged and pulled at Faolán and he wanted answers. In the end he tried to cast away his fears as he began to try and draw Kaytar's attention once more. "Who are they?" he questioned whilst bringing his eyebrows downwards and tilting his head forward as if to point to the direction of the four wolves.

OOC: Kala-love, you've saved me from boredom. Thank you so much. whee Also... is anyone else even here anymore? I guess if it just falls to us, Kala, the other wolves will, um, mysteriously disappear, somehow... Lol.
Kaytar turned around from where he'd come, realizing with impressed surprise that Faolan had sensed out the newcomers. He was amazed that such a youngster could have unearthed this information, but yet again, Cascade Mountain wolves were not Grey.
However, Kaytar, having only met Riyora and Iarni, was under the impression that only two strange wolves were in his territory. As such, he remained in the dark of the looming threat of the strange blue-furred invaders of whom he had not been introduced to. This was metaphoric too, for the sun had already sunk below the tips of the trees, and in response to the sun's descent, the moon had bounced upwards in the opposite end of the sky. Shadows turned the fresh green to a dark, glistening emerald, and in the haunting light Kaytar dragged his quarry closer to the Den-entrance.
"Two she-wolves," he answered, lacking the cold he'd directed towards Riyora. His tone was almost affectionate. "Zev has accepted them, it seems, into the pack. They're on their way now. They seem harmless enough, but I've only met one. What could be taking them?"
The cub's curiosity and sense of apparent calm told Kaytar that Zev was most likely resting in her sleeping-place. Had she been absent, Faolan's greeting to Kaytar may have been a little more hysterical, or relieved.

OOC: This is the only roleplaying thread, considering the rules are on the Homepage. The others in the "Territories" are simply descriptions of the places surrounding the area - like a kind of map, so if anyone goes roaming they know what to expect. They are informative only. After all, this is Zev's - Kala's - territory, so nobody's going to be designing it on a whim to suit themselves. We restricted the roleplaying to here because it's far easier to read over and keep an eye on who's doing what. If everybody posted at least twice a day on all of the Territory topics... that's going to be a lot to monitor for the Captains and Vices. Finally, the "Profiles" part is... well, guess.

"Accepted them? Humph." Faolán grumbled with a little sign of distaste. Something wasn't right. I mean, Zev would never do something like that; accept complete strangers with no apparent reason. What the hell was happening to her? Was her insanity completely over-throwing her? Faolán had known for quite some time that Zev was a little messed up in the head but lately she had been a lot weirder than usual lately. Was she power-crazy? Who could tell? Zev was a difficult wolf to read because of her psychedelic changes in emotion and so this puzzled Faolán to a great extent. He soon tried to forget about his complicated thoughts regarding his mum and tried to pick out something else as so to bring up discussion.
For a while Faolán repeated Kaytar's little speech in his head to try and pick something out and be able to bring it up. When Kaytar had mentioned 'she-wolves', his tone was different from his usual neutral state. It was a tone Faolán was unfamilliar with and so it soon grasped his full attention. He quickly assumed it to be the nice sort. "You... you like... one of... them?" he found himself stuttering awkwardly. A nosy parker was Faolán but he couldn't help himself. He was always wanting answers to things and if he didn't get them, then he would keep asking until he was either bellowed at fiercely or given a reluctant answer.

Kaytar turned to face Faolan, a small smile in his jowls revealing his white fangs. For some reason, the cub's remark hadn't offended or riled him. Normally such a quote would have triggered an aggressive response from him. But Kaytar simply said, "Like? Nah, not really like. She's annoying. Really annoying. But her sister is a youngster, it seems. Who knows, Faolan - you could have a friend your own age to play with now, if they stay!"
He picked up the fawn and moved closer, before turning away from the den entrance to feed on a small outcrop above the hole, like a majestic guardian. He gnawed slightly at the flesh, and when it didn't break instantly, Kaytar resumed a patient, thoughtful chewing as dusk settled like a cool quilt over the forest, darkening it even further. He could see, smell, and hear anything that might burst out for Faolan.

When no blue wolves jumped on them, Riyora silently urged Iarni onwards with proddings of her snout. Quickly and quietly, they crawled and creeped, until they came to an opening in the dense foliage. Riyora tensed, poised behind Iarni's unmoving form, then grabbed the cub's scruff and pelted outwards. It was a noisy and unsubtle manouver, but it was a fast one, and soon, the older sister was shooting through the trees with the brown body hanging from her jaws. Onwards she went, never daring to pause to glance back. She ran and ran until she was certain nothing was following.
Riyora stopped, gently dropped Iarni, and peered worryingly around. Then she lifted her beautiful head, and let loose a shrill howl - Come and find us! We don't know where to go!

At night I'll hang my head in shame... ~Ẑℯ√ тℌℯ ß@ḓαṧṧ ◎ᾔℯ ~ In the darkness of the cave, a shut eye belonging to Zev began flicking at a rapid pace. It soon opened and revealed a broad, beady eye that for the moment could do nothing but stare. They eye then eventually moved slowly to the left, and then over to the right and back to its starting position. Nobody was there; nothing was there and for a moment or two Zev relaxed, but then it hit her. Faolán... gone... She soon pounced up with no stopping. Zev could have almost screamed in fear; you could have summed Zev up as over-protective since she knew what the others could do to him if they put their minds to it. At the beginnings of the night Zev marched outside and saw Faolán sitting outside seemingly without a care in the world. "Stupid boy, you didn't bother telling me where you were going or even ask for permission?!" she growled in a vexed yet concerned tone. She leaned in close so that their muzzles were almost touching and waited for an answer. ... all because I still remember your name... My cuteness will make your heart melt...

Faolán leaned back in complete terror; he hadn't thought about what to say or do after going outside the den. He looked at his mother's facial expression, so much distress upon it and he wasn't exactly going to make it any better for himself right now even though he would try his best in vain. "I'm sorry mum. I was bored and I.... I... look, I just wanted to see what's out here! It's all so exciting! I want to know who the other wolves you let in are..." Even though Zev was trying to reason with him here and there and try to get her point across, Faolán continued with what he had to say and now that he had heard Riyora's howl and so used this to his advantage. "Besides, where are they, Mum? I think they're lost..."... but diss Mum and I'll rip you to shreds...

Kaytar gazed amusedly, but quite warmly, down at Zev and Faolan. He wasn't relishing the confrontation like he'd done during the conflict between his alpha and that stupid, angst-ridden she-wolf. Riyora had it coming. The normal scolding between a mother and her young, however, was quite entertaining to watch in a cuddly sense - a reminder of pack life when Kaytar himself was younger. But at the sound of the howl, urgent and despairing, he closed his eyes in preparation of what was to come - a mixed feeling between discontent and disappointment. He knew he'd be the one to go and search for her, but he didn't complain about it to Zev. She'd want to look after Faolan.
Without one last nibble of the deer, he slipped down, shadow-quiet, and trotted off into the brush. "I'll find them, Zev," he called back. "No need to go yourself." Then, with shame, he realized how arrogant his tone had sounded, and flattened his ears-self-consciously, imagining Zev's angry eyes burning into his tail and setting it alight. He didn't stop.
* * *
Iarni sat huddled between Riyora's two front paws, who was resting hunched over like an aged wolf. Both their eyes were uneasy, but compared to Riyora, who seemed paranoid, Iarni was considerably more confident-looking with her fluffed-up fur and intense eyes. They spotted a lithe, heavyset form sailing through the trees, and only recognized Kaytar when he was several feet from them. It was so dark by now, his light underside seemed to glow slightly.
"Come on, then," he said, sounding unusually soft-toned with his eyes on Iarni.
But Riyora bared her teeth. "Why didn't you howl back?" she demanded. "We didn't know whether you were a familiar wolf or not, running through the trees over there!"

At night I'll hang my head in shame... ~Ẑℯ√ тℌℯ ß@ḓαṧṧ ◎ᾔℯ ~ Zev's attention soon left Faolán and her head snapped around as she watched Kaytar head on his way to find the she-wolves. At one point she found herself raising an eyebrow and considering what he had said before he'd padded off and the way he'd said it. She couldn't exactly blame him for it, yet she'd never admit it verbally. Zev had her reasons as well: both she and Kaytar had history - thankfully most of it now forgotten by the pair of them because they were all so little back then- and so sometimes she would treat him like family, maybe like an older, wiser brother. Still, those moments were very rare because Zev didn't exactly want anybody knowing the whole truth and there was something else... a wolf that hopefully would never be seen again. The girl should've died ages ago; out there all alone. Zev prayed that she was dead but at the time she couldn't bring herself to kill her. Kaytar was there too on that eventful day; a dark day, oh so very dark... OOC: Not trying to be a puppet-master or anything, I'm just trying to tie the plot together a little. I'll change it if you want. ... all because I still remember your name...

OOC: Ha ha, no, 'tis fine. I'm very intrigued actually. smile I'll play along. ^^ I was wondering what kind of relationship he had with Zev anyway.
Kaytar rolled his eyes, irritated. "It's not a problem anymore," he said, already turning away. He stood halfway onto a vast log, where woodlice crawled soundlessly amidst the blackened, fungus-dense layers of damp wood, and moss prickled underneath the weight of the wolf's mighty paws. "You can start following me anytime."
With clear reluctance Riyora stood, urging Iarni upon her own feet at the same time. But Riyora was tired from having to carry her sister everywhere, so instead, she nudged and guided the cub before her, lifting her every now and then when a large log or a spiky, irrepressible branch refused to let them over. The pace was momentously slow for Kaytar, but after a gruelling fifteen minutes, they came across the den. By now, night had almost completely fallen, so that the wolves' yellow eyes had turned a series of transforming greens and blacks in the darkness. Kaytar returned to his post with the fawn eagerly, leaving Riyora and Iarni to stare, tired and dumbfounded, at the tiny pack.
"This is it?" Riyora questioned, aghast. Clearly she had been expecting more!

At night I'll hang my head in shame... ~Ẑℯ√ тℌℯ ß@ḓαṧṧ ◎ᾔℯ ~ Bʀᴇᴀᴋs ᴅᴏᴡɴ Zev glared with detest at Riyora and couldn't believe the rot that passed through the she-wolf's lips. "What do you mean, 'is this it'!?" she growled with complete outrage. "It's in far better state than what was left of your dump of a pack. And besides... the others seem to be... gone..." her sentence was quickly silenced when she realised that she was speaking the truth. She should have known that they wouldn't have returned in one piece, if at all, and they hadn't. The entire pack had gone out hunting and were now missing without a trace. Fear suddenly struck Zev right at the core and her once proud tail flopped between her legs, her ears flattened and tears began to brim around her eyes. She was unable to hold back her emotions and so with complete embarrasment she turned away from the rest of the newly-formed pack and paced slowly back into the den. What if the rest of them were dead? What if Man had returned to cause even more distruction? Zev didn't know what to do. By God, she didn't know what to do... ... all because I still remember your name...
