Writer's Haven

Welcome to the homepage of one of the smallest literate roleplaying communities in the registry. We have almost ten active members! This is a guild of the most advanced roleplayers in the history of Gaia who are a part of this guild, and who are active participants, thereof. We all understand english! (At least to an extent) We can all use words! (once again, to an extent) (Begin random tangent here) We use words like floccinaucinihilipilification (estimating worthlessness), pseudoantidisestablishmentarianism (acting like you are against the separation of state and church), and sesquipedalian (means using long words)... Well, not really, but it makes you seem real smart when you use them! Well.. Maybe not. I can use all three in a single sentence! (Score!) (End random tangent) All involved can wield the english language well enough to formulate sentences, and to ensure that their thoughts form together in cohesive paragraphs (Yes! ALL nine!). This is brought up, not to show superiority, but merely as a means of expressing, essentially, the only requirement to be a part of our guild. Any and all roleplayers and stories are welcome, even embraced, here, so long as offenses are not intentionally made.

I know you are biting at the bit for me to hurry and explain how to join, and I shall grant you your wish to be a part of the elite veterans of this guild momentarily. (elite owing to the fact that there are but nine active members; veterans due to, well, for the most part, we've all been here since the beginning, that long ago day.. A whole four months in the distant, distant past)

To do well and gain fulfillment from this enchanted guild, we don't ask for your money (donations appreciated!), we don't ask for your items (can anyone donate to me?), we only ask that you:
a.) Join.
b.) Put effort and care into your posts.
c.) Have fun and embark on the joys of roleplaying alongside us.

You just have to be able to roleplay and roleplay well. Requirements are simple.

1. Correct spelling and grammar:
Mistakes happen. This is known and expected, simply reviewing a post before submission can eliminate 90% of these, the other ten can be overlooked. I know the submit button calls to us all after finishing a long post, and you wish for nothing so much as to see it displayed across the page of the roleplay as a declaration of the labor interred and in a static representation of your accomplishment. However, nothing cheapens the effort placed in your work like a dozen careless mistakes. Please, for all our sakes, give it a lookover, first. Remember, there is always spellcheck.

2. One paragraph per post:
Please don't think this is meant as a limiter. If this was your first thought, send in a roleplay sample, now! What is meant by this is, simply, that you place at least one paragraph into your post before answering the call of the Syren-like submit button. I know a paragraph can, technically, be a single sentence. I wouldn't try it. Just put at least five lines of well thought out, meaningful text. If you are unable to accomplish this, I regret to inform you, that you are looking into the wrong guild.

3. Type in third person, past tense:
I know of at least one person who refuses to type in anything but first person. I am, by no means, denigrating this style of writing. In fact, one of my favorite books is written entirely from first person perspective. However, all of the roleplays currently in effect in this guild are written in novel format. Special permission from the roleplay's creator is required to write in first person, otherwise, third person, past tense is the only way to write here.

4. No symbols to depict actions:
I cannot recall ever having read a book in which the author felt it necessary to use silly symbols to denote action. One can just as easily explain what is happening. If a roleplay sample is sent in with this, then it shall not be accepted. Using them in the roleplays is equally unacceptable. If you must, there are several out of character threads, have a ball with your symbols there, elsewhere will result in a warning followed by immediate banning.

Rules out of the way, now, I know you are dying for me to move on to the how, not if, of joining our guild. This is an exceptionally easy process to complete.
1. Create a roleplay sample.
2. Send it in as either:
a.) a join request, or
b.) a Private Message to A. Drake, Ajantis or Clevermog.
3. Eagerly await your acceptance.

Do not send in personal information about yourself, your submission should explain itself. This is an effort to guage your writing abilities, not a judge of you, as a person. Please do not send in character descriptions. Strongly suggest reviewing entry prior to submission. This initial entry is your chance at a first impression. Make it a good one. Happy roleplaying.

Your friendly, neighborhood, Writer's Haven guildmasters.
