Thousands of years ago, the planet was green, blooming with life. The frozen poles were made of ice and snow. There were vast oceans and rivers, while the land was covered in forests.. and cities, busy with the noise of crowded streets.
Today, those images would seem strange, as the planet has almost completely dried out, along with the memories of foliage. The lush crops are now struggling to survive. The only foods that can be grown now are crops that don’t need much water, such as potatoes or corn. The world is dying as are it's people.
For the last two thousand years, the Kings have ruled the skies and kept the people on land in check. There are now slums and villages where great cities used to be, eroded to dust over time.

It's now the year 6493, the oceans have dried and animals have evolved to survive these extreme conditions. As such, whales have taken to the sky! The hierarchy of Kings saw opportunity, and resolved to hunt these whales and other creatures. With the aid of advance elven technology and druid magic, they made these creatures into compliant biological ecosystem airships. With these, they rule over the skies of Estovia while people on land starve and suffer without sustainable water sources.
The remaining survivors on land live on the edges of continents, clinging to the hopes of the ocean's eventual return.
Amongst these, a rebellion has arisen, with plans to overthrow the tyranny and turn the tables for the survival of the land dwellers.
The Black King has begun to run the sky whales to death over the last three hundred years. He seems to have lived forever.. but rumors spread he has a secret. A new rival now calls for his judgement, a new King has risen. He is The Red King, leader of the rebellion, set in secret efforts to overthrow the Black King and topple their hierarchy.
The Red King’s Rebellion is the earthen people's last hope to gain their land back and return the planet to it's former glory.
