These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
What God abandoned, these defended,
And saved the sum of things for pay.

Story

There used to be stories told around campfires about a brave group of warriors who would defend the land for anyone, and for any reason. These warriors were looked up upon by all, rich or poor, old or young. Only the foolish would dare approach them, and only the mentally unstable would try and challenge them. Their awesome courage and teamwork led them to many decades of victories. That is, until the Great War.
The Great War is the bloodiest war in the history of all Menomenta. Thousands were killed, and an uncountable number were injured. The warfare was so severe and brutal that none of the brave warriors survived long enough to tell the tale. Those who were not killed in battle died of fatal wounds hours, days, or months later.
A lone Elvish girl, Valcun, is rumored to have been born on the field of battle after the fighting had stopped. Her mother died of battle wounds and complications during childbirth, so the babe was forced to survive on her own. Years later, after traversing across the land all her life, she makes it her mission to learn every last fact about her past, her parents, and the warrior group they are said to come from in hopes to rebuild that the Astalderean name. But she cannot do this alone. She will need as much help as she can get, and so, the quest begins.
After some time, a band of mercenaries much smaller than the original Astalderea, forms. Although they share the same name, they are nothing alike. Travelling from town to town, they have slowly increased their numbers as they crawl closer and closer to their destination -- the East, the battlefield of the Great War. But what surprises await them there? Could the fighting still be occurring, all these years later? And why do they all feel such a strong pull coming from the historic site?

If you would like to join, we ask that:

1. You follow the rules. This includes Gaia's ToS and the rules of the guild. We will know if you didn't read them before you attempted to sign up, and we won't approve your request.

2. You are literate. We cannot stress this enough. One cannot truly enjoy an RP if they can't read the massive jumble of letters being thrown at them. We don't mind capitalization as much, but please, don't use u or y.

3. You must have at least roleplayed once before. If you haven't, include a sample of how you roleplay in the the request to join, and we will judge based upon that. There is a topic called Tips for New Roleplayers. Read it.

4. Have fun. The whole purpose of this guild is to enjoy roleplaying a story with other Gaians. If it wasn't meant to be fun, there wouldn't be any members. Even I wouldn't have joined my own guild!

5. When you request to join, please PM the character form to Valcun Bravehardt. If you have read the rules and the entire about section, you will know what we are talking about.

6. Please, realize what you are getting into. Don't just join for the sake of joining. Read the story, some of the action that's taking place, and consider what's happening. From now on we are only accepting serious requests.

If you feel as though you qualify for all of the above, congratulations. smile I hope you consider joining.

Note: If I don't accept or decline your request within 5 days, PM me, because I probably haven't checked. ^^;
