The world in which we live can indeed be a harsh and confusing place- of that I have no doubts. In spite of this, there are those of us who are still happy to be alive, who recognize that the strife which reaches the news is a mere distraction, however serious, from the true beauty of the human spirit, kindness and ingenuity, truths which we knew by instinct at the age of four, truths which have never left us although they are often forgotten. This world is not perfect, no, but what reason is that to keep yourself from embracing and enjoying the simple joys of the life which we have? If you feel as I do then, friend, if you appreciate the little things in life (which make all the difference, in the end), I invite you to join Mere Humanity, a guild which, I hope, will open the doorway to friendships and to the appreciation and discussion of all aspects of life itself.

Mere Humanity, which derives its name from a series of essays by the late C.S. Lewis, is a guild founded around the principle that there are things in this world which easily make life worth living, even if it be only one another. In our virtual halls, feel free to introduce yourselves to people whom you may have never met otherwise, discuss personal interests, personal philosophies, history, art, music, video games, whatever passions which you hold dear, true to your heart and to yourself. Here we have no fees, we have no religious, or political, or any other requirements at all beyond asking that you be serious, that you behave decently and maturely with Mere Humanity members even when you may disagree with them. Being friendly is all that we ask of our members, exactly what anyone should be able to expect from anyone else.
