Side Quest

I've set up some basic standards I must meet in my main quest each month.

Get two donation letters for personal use - This was started as my Letter of the Month Quest. After I realized what a fool I was for not getting the sash while it was cheap, I have vowed never to let that happen again. Each month, I must get two letters to make sure that I have access to at least one of each item. I am already thankful several times over for doing this.
Get two donation letters for my quest - Donation letters are like stock. The older they are, the higher their value is (usually). While gold is preferred, If I keep letters in my offer, near the end of my quest, I can sell them off for gold, and have a nice juicy offer.
Earn at least 10 K in gold toward my quest - As long as I keep getting gold, I keep raising my offer. Gold ish good.

This side quest serves several different functions:

Stimulate further progress on the main quest.
Supply a reward for progress made on the main quest.
Help stock up my inventory.
Set up a roadmap and an agenda for the quest.
Prevent burnout on the main quest by giving variation.
Push me to new limits.

Once I have met these standards, a total of about 30 K, I can persue my side quest. Side quests can be anything from another item for myself to helping a friend. It will work as a sort of reward system for my work toward my quest. If I don't make progress, I don't get rewarded.

At the end of each month, after I've met my three major goals, any gold I make after that is subject to supporting the side quest OR further supporting my main quest.
