As humans delve further from the world of reality, a small oasis of sentient life is discovered, containing strange creatures known as Phyrets.
There are six types, which go through three stages each. Each Phyret is an individual, who bonds with a guardian for its entire life, and remains in the guardians subconscious forever more.
Two adult Phyrets have been noted, with enough power to wander from mind to mind, they have a strong bond, and are difficult to seperate, they are rumoured to be the parents of all the Make and Rorans
Depths is a supposed "safe haven" for every mental creatrue, but is accesable only through Phyrets. Humans have been noted in unaccompanied forms sometimes, but it is rare.
There are six kinds of Phyret:
* Maki: From the depths of the darkest mind, yet not destructive, the Maki emerge. They are gentle enough, if not threatened, but tend towards depression if unsupported. They are creative, and seek knowledge, which usually gets them into trouble. Maki are known for their lack of fighting skills, and seek to escape by intimidation rather than skill.
* Rora: From the occasional good deed and promising thought the Rora spring, slightly vain and definitively beautiful, they are tender and loving when they find the one the truely worship. They are hard to get along with, and can be stuck-up at times, but are solid friends... if you idea of solid is someone who can step through the barriers of the subconscious into the conscious mind.
* Verdurans: The Verduans are a plant species, they are difficult to get along with, but are stubbornly loyal once they trust their owner. They dislike being handled but plant-stage Verduans may allow their guardian to ride on its back, or allow baby Phyrets of any kind to play with its tail.
* Sirocci: The Sirocci are creatures of fire. They are placid and easy going, but have fiery tempers if provoked, they enjoy human company, but are not nearly as dependant as any of the others, preferring to vanish for days at a time and reappearing later with items from their travels. Although they do not have fangs, spikes or claws like any of the other Phyrets, they are vicious fighters and do not need such things to defend themselves.
* Cirrian: The Cirrians are an air species. They are quick tempered but forgive easily and laugh willingly. Although able to carry humans at the teen stage, they are unable to fly with their immature wings at this point, and can only do so once they reach their adult stage.
Baby Cirrians have egg teeth, while their talons are not sharp enough to cut, the tooth is nasty. Teen Cirrians have fangs, but these are not very sharp, while their talons are harder and make very good defensive weapons. Adult Cirrians have one fang and razor sharp talons, so it is wise not to offend them unless you can run quickly.
* Haydro: The Haydri are a water species, they speak softly and hit hard, while being beautiful all the while. Though not particularly vain, the females may occasionally find shells to decorate their Permu (developing tail) to attract potential mates. The general temperament of the Haydri is one of dependence and love, they are the easiest to get along with, and seldom think ill of their guardians, even given great proof to the contrary.
