Updates
1/2/08:Grand reopening sale and Valentine day's events in planning. Be on the lookout!
1/1/08: This shop is coming back to life! BlackFireKitsune is giving ownership over to Pippi18848. So hopefully we can bring this place back to life!

1/1/07: Whee! Just a couple minutes into the new year. As for updates there are some plottings going on ninja So keep an eye out for some activity going on in the near future.
7/31/06: Growings, page 91! <3 Also, the event has been moved to a separate thread, to cause less confusion. Link!
7/24/06: Breeding might start up soon. :0
7/22/06: Event starts today! <3 Pippi will be moderating and running it for the first few days, until I'm done with school stuff. XD I'm in a (completely voluntary) summer school class (politics, so I don't have to take it in school in the fall or spring), and I have a five-page paper due on (and only on) monday. XD So..yeah. XD; *flees to go work on it*
7/19/06: I'm going to just schedule a start date for the event, and work things out from there. <3 The event will start on july 22nd, sometime during the evening. There'll be at least one flatsale, custom slots, dice contests, free prizes, an rp event (hopefully), and maybe a couple other things. <3 Dice contests and free prizes will start on the 22nd, and the other events will start as soon as I get everything set up for them. <3

6/27/06: I'll be holding an event in july, after I get back from vacation. <3 There'll be a flatsale, rp event, raffle, and maybe a couple other things. <3
5.13.06. - Owner's list updated, as well as growings on page 57-58, I believe. :3 Once the dragons from the flatsale grow to youth or adult, we might hold another flatsale/event/whatever. :3
4.18.06. - Easter is officially over as of last night, and was very successful. <3 However, I'll be away for about a week, so all dragons will grow when I return. <3
4.15.06. - Flatsale held last night, and all four eggs were sold. <3 The owner's list is updated, and there is now a new subforum in the guild for journals! You can now create a journal for your dragon(s) in the guild, so go check that out! <3
4.9.06. - Undergoing a few major changes, some minor, so please bear with us. e.e The shop has switched ownership; Ary has officially sold the shop, as she had little time and enthusiasm left, because hardly anyone showed much interest in the shop. @__@; The new owner of the shop is BlackFireKitsune (me! XD), and yeah.. I'm going to do my best to get the shop back up and running as soon as possible, and bring it back to life, too <3
Edit: Updated the old version of the owner's list :3
7.13.05 - New thread is still under construction. We are expecting tons of new things in the reopening...such as a new breed of dragon, custom lineart for the roleplay required, and more!

Thread Rules:

!*! - Read the first page- yes, that does mean ALL OF IT- before pming the shop account, DragonsoftheWorld, with any questions. There is a good chance your question has already been answered. The information is posted for a reason.

1. Theft is bad, m'kay? No matter if it's art, writing, or ideas. Yes, this shop is based off of a book. We know this and admit it. See the disclaimer? Last post. But the art is the product of hard work by Ary. Anybody caught stealing will be reported and blacklisted. End of story.

2. Pippi18848 is the owner of the thread. Previous shopowner BlackFireKitsune has authority in here as well as any official colorists. Since Ary and Wyv were the shopowners before, they also have authority here. Their word, as well as mine, is law. If they ask you to stop, please do so. Don't explain, don't defend, just stop. Odds are, there's a valid reason for them doing so.

3. Be respectful. That means no whining, no flaming, no harassing. If a fight starts, please take it to pms. Better yet, don't start one.

4. All official rp is to be done in the guild. OOC-casual stuff is fine in thread.

5. Do not PM Ary, Wyv, Bfk, Pippi or anyone else with questions. That's why there's a shop account, okay? Pm the mule with all questions. It's also fine to ask questions in thread. Same goes for AIM or anything else. We don't want it on Gaia, and we don't want it off Gaia either.

6. Spam is bad. Advertising is bad. Stretching the page is bad. Don't do it. Asking to affiliate is not the same as advertising, but don't push it.
-Corrolary: Over-use of emoticons, especially " crying " is an offense punishable by death. We'll feed you to something large and unpleasant with bad breath. Like Tobias. >.>

7. For now, roleplay is not required, but it is highly encouraged. Plus, there might be perks for frequent roleplayers. X3 Even though roleplay isn't required at the moment, you still MUST show up at least once every two weeks, or your dragon won't grow. If you disappear for a month or so without notice (such as your family is going on vacation and you won't be back for a few weeks, etc. "I just forgot to come here" or anything similar isn't acceptable).

Flatsale Rules:

1. All announcements regarding flatsales (time of, start of, and end of) are done by Pippi or through the shop account. Anything else is hearsay and should be treated as such. On that same note, do not go around trying to threaten/bribe/mislead others about fs information. Doing so gets you a one way trip to the blacklist.

2. Editing your post is an automatic gray-list, unless given permission by Pippi or a colorist.

3. Don't whine/complain/cry if you didn't get one. In addition to being annoying, it's also against the thread rules. Yep, those still apply for a flatsale.

4. Flatsales will proceed as follows:
- Five minutes before go time, there will be a call for silence. Refrain from posting 'til the sale opens. The quiet is good for the nerves.
- The word 'GO' will be posted by an official souce in big bold letters.
- No multiple claims. If the egg you wanted was taken, you may try again by reposting the order form.
- One dragon per person, unless you are getting one for a friend. Then you may get two, but you MUST post the orders in separate posts, i.e.- post an order for yourself, then make a separate post for your friend.
- Wait for the winners to be announced before starting a trade.
- Only pure is accepted as payment. (That means no items.)
- The current types of flatsales are: speed (first come, first served), rp-prompt (you have a set amount of time to write a response and post it in the thread), and a few random types. For every fs, you MUST state which dragon you are trying for.

Auction procedure:
- All auctions will be held in a separate thread. A link to the auction will be placed in the news post.
- Bid only what you have. Acceptable items and price guide will be listed in the auction's info post.
- Editing your bid or retracting your bid will get you on the blacklist, unless you have a VERY good reason.
- In order to prevent sniping, you must have bid already or expressed interest at least an hour before auction's end for your bid to count.
- If there is a bid within the last hour, the auction's deadline will be extended 15 minutes.

6. Payment for all sales is expected within 24 hours. After that, the dragon you won will either go to the next highest bidder (for auctions), or will be put back up for sale (flatsales).

Dragons have been found in almost every culture around the world. Why is this? Because they were real creatures! They existed long before humans did. Some were hunted by us, while others were respected. In the end, however, they were forced to leave our world or die out. The last mages helped send the remaining dragons from around the world to another plain of existance. But the dragons couldn't stay there without a guardian from earth remembering them and believing in them. We are here to help find dragons a guardian so that they can continue to live, even if most humans cannot remember they exist.

The shop itself was founded by one of the mages who had sent the dragons away. He passed the shop on through the ages to someone who he believed was the one who could get the most people to believe in dragons once more. However, to make sure that no dragon hunters or adventurers would come to try and slay the dragons, the shop was kept secret. We also forbid guardians to go to the dragons' new world as another form of protection. Now we've decided to bring it more into the light, for more of the public to see.

Elements

Elements go hand-in-hand with the magic that rules the new world of the dragons. They help to make the land what it is and to make magic possible. Each breed of dragon is ruled by a particular element, though Mystics are able to most elements, even those that do not rule them. The elements include: water, air, fire, earth, shadow, and light.

The Breeds

A dragon's breed determine what type of dragon it is. If you must, think species of dragon. Just as a tiger and an ocelot are both felines, so a wyvern and a lung are both dragons. A description of each breed's traits follows. And remember: although each breed tends toward certain behaviors, a dragon will be who ever he feels he must be, and laws and tradition be damned.

Mexican Amphithere

Amphithere are serpentine dragons, equipped with feathers on their wings and crests. They tend towards bright and vibrant coloring. Their bodies are long and full of hard, strong mucles and a flexible spine, much like snakes. They could easily squeeze an animal to death in the same way a snake could.

Easy-going describes these dragons best; rare is the amphithere who is uptight and strung out. These are some of the most relaxed and laid-back dragons. It's not that they lack the capacity to worry- kidnap a chick and they whole clan goes searching- but they prefer to tackle one day at a time.

Amphithere are also hardy dragons, being immune to most poisons and toxins. This is because they choose to live in the jungle and tropical areas. Here, where it rains often and colors are everywhere the eye reaches, many plants and animals of poison skins and juices live. Their ruling element is the earth. They can only do small things with the earth, such as move pebbles without touching them.

User Image

Chinese Lung

User Image The Chinese Lungs are dragons that came from the eastern part of the old world. Their bodies are long and slightly cat like, though their faces resemble dogs. They have visible ears and curved horns, with small ridges on their backs. They do not have wings, but are still able to fly. Whiskers drape down from their muzzles and fur lines the bottom and side of their faces. They are rather intellectual by nature and dislike violence and conflicts. Most lungs are very educated by their elders, for ignorance is dangerous.

Lungs are ruled by the element of water. They are able to command water, though most can only do small things, such as cause ripples in the water without touch. They make their homes along the river in the southern part of the new world. Making their nests in the reeds along the shore, they eat fish and marsh birds commonly. They also love to drink milk, however, which had been a gift from humans back in the old world. However, now that is a rare treat, since they would have to take it from living animals now.

User Image

European

Europeans were the most common dragon found in Europe before they were moved to the new world. They are the second-largest of the dragons. They have 6 limbs; two wings and four legs. They have an arrow-head upon their tail and spikes along their back.

Europeans are rather well rounded in personalities. Some are smart, others are rash, etc. However, Europeans are often times more skilled in magic then the other dragons. Basic Europeans have fire breath and usually nothing more. This is because they are ruled by the fire element.

Europeans live in the forests to the east where they feed largely on elk and other large animals that live there. Since the forest is so huge, it easily supports the clan that lives there without complications.

User Image

Knuckler (unavailable at this point in time)

Knucklers were a less common species found in Europe. They have long, snake-like bodies with four legs and small wings. They are unable to fly, but are very quick on their feet. They have oddly shaped ears, but do not share spikes or horns like many other species.

They live along a river in a canyon, which causes them to be expert climbers. They also can swim rather well, though they prefer not to. They are ruled by the earth element and have a very venomous bite. They eat fish and small animals that live among the rocks.

User Image

Wyvern

Wyverns are the largest of all the dragons. They used to live out in Africa, where the game was on a much larger scale then in many other places. They have only four limbs; two huge wings and two hind legs. They are the strongest of all the dragons when it comes to brute force. Race is the Wyvern that has magic abilities. They are ruled by the element of earth.

Wyverns are at the top of the food chain in the savanna. They can eat anything, from elephants to zebras. This makes it easier to support such great creatures, even in large numbers. They usually make their nests among the rocky ridges near water sources.

User Image

Ice Dragons (unavailable at this point in time)

Ice Dragons look a lot like Europeans...however, they have a mane of hair along their backs and they do not grow spikes nor have arrows on their tails. Older dragons of this species also grow hair under their chin and at their joints. These dragons live up in the cold, icy mountains and stay close together to make sure no matter what happens, non of their clan will freeze.

Ice Dragons have an extra lung that has a special regulation of extremely cold temperatres. It keeps the cold air within it cold, but the blood within the body around the lung causes it not to freeze within the body. Ice Dragons may release all this cold air through their mouth, which will often freeze whatever it touches once it leaves the body.

The Independent Society of Dragons

User Image
"Rogue" is not really a breed of dragon. There is a clan that does not go by breed and it is called the Independent Society of Dragons. However, other dragons simply call them Rogues, since they seem to go against what all the other clans seem to have put together. Little is known about this group at this time, but it is known that any breed of dragon may be apart of ISOD. There even seem to be mixes among their ranks.

The Clans

The clans are the basic social unit found among dragon kind. Breed determines the clan lines, an ancient tradition that followed the dragons in their exodus from earth. While flights, that is smaller groupings of different breeds of dragons formed around friendship, living space or a specific task, of dragons can and do form, such groupings are never permanent.

Many clan historians will claim that it is the differing fundamental natures of the breeds. Others will recite litanies of the importance of keeping tradition alive and the bloodlines pure. The ancestors had a reason for doing so, and as such, it must be important.

The only exception to this is the Rogue clan, composed of all breeds of dragons and even rumored to house a few hybrids and cross-breeds.

Clan Territories

Each clan claims a portion of (the land with no name yet) as belonging to them, their home turf, so to speak. While the clans do not actively war with each other, excepting perhaps the Rogues, non-clan members found in clan territory will be viewed with suspiscion and distrust, even if they have a good reason for being there.

Boundaries of territories are almost always under dispute.

While the general location of each homeland is common knowledge among all dragons, the location of nests, breeding grounds, deposits of gems/ore, and other such sites are closely guarded secrets, with few exceptions.

Quote:
IMPORTANT: I have noticed some people when roleplaying their dragon including human interaction. The dragons are NOT IN THE SAME WORLD AS US! They are in another one LIKE ours, but without humans in it. The only way your dragon can communicate with you is telepathicly! Please remember this!

Roleplaying is not required, but it is highly encouraged. Informal roleplay can only be done in the shop thread, and formal roleplay can only be done in the guild.

Rules

1. All formal roleplay is to be done in the GUILD.
2. The dragons do NOT come in contact with the humans! They are on a different plain of existance!
3. Except where noted, all RP is to be done in the formal style. That's third person past tense. Ex.: She said, "Hello." Not: She says, "Hello.", *says Hello* or anything like that.
4. Keep OOC (out of character) comments encased in double parenthesis. (( )). Makes it easier to follow what's going on.
5. No God-moding. No one can avoid everything, and by that same token, no one can hit everything either.
6. You may not kill other dragons. -.-
7. Play your rank please! A loner is not going to be giving council to the clan advisor.
8. Have fun!

FAQ

Q. Formal RP? Wha? I don't get it.
A. Here's a link that does an incredibly in-depth explaination: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2480560.

Q. Can I have a journal?
A. Certainly! There is a journal sub-forum in the guild where you can make your own journal.

Q. Can I start my own thread in the guild?
A. We prefer that you don't. We've got everything organized. Ask, we may allow member-started threads under special circumstances.
A. With the newest addition of subforums to the guild, you are allowed to make journals, but nothing else for now.

Questions added as they come.

Ranks

Ranks are divided up by clans. Each type of dragon has its own clan. Each clan has a clan leader, and clan adviser. There may be loners, but they are still refered to being in a clan because of their species. There is only one clan that isn't based on species, and that is the rogue clan, which can not yet be joined.

Clan Leader - The leader of the clan. Automatically has breeding rights, if a male, he does not have to buy a gem from the shop. They are usually the strongest dragon in the clan, though this may vary. One per clan.

Clan Adviser - Basically it's the next best thing to being the clan leader. They help the clan leader and are usually the second strongest in the clan. Number of positions vary between clans, but at most two.

Loner - A dragon who is part of a clan, but spends little time in it. Varies between clans.

Scout - A dragon who is quick and has a lot of energy. Scouts for the clan in peace and in war. At least two per clan.

Mystic - Wise dragons who are specialized in knowledge and magic. These are very rare and a great help to the clan. Three to four at most, one of which is an apprentice in training.

Scholar - The catch-all term that refers to those dragons that serve as both teacher and historian to the clans. Typically three or more in a clan.

Nurse - A dragon who takes care of the clan's eggs and chicks. At least four can be found in a clan.

Healer - Those dragons devoted to tending the wounded and curing the sick.

Warrior - A dragon who will fight other clans durring war. Numerous positions per clan.

Hunter - Will hunt for the clan, mostly for those in the nests, such as chicks and nurses. The second most numerous rank after Warriors.

Members - Starting rank of all dragons. These are the average joes of dragonkind. No special responsibilities, but no special privaledges either. Only through roleplay, can a dragon change his or her rank.

At this point in time, dragons can only breed with the opposite gender, and only among others of the same species. (that means a european can't breed with an ice dragon, etc.)

So, your dragons want to breed, eh? Well, they can't. *cough* At least, not yet. To breed, a gemstone must be purchased. There are currently eleven different gemstones that can be purchased, and each one is unique in its own way. Depending on which gem is purchased, the female will lay a certain amount of eggs. The better (harder, more valuable) the gem, the more eggs she will lay. However, not all of the gems are available to everyone. Gem chart below:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Lapis and opal: One to two eggs - 2k
Turquoise and moonstone: Two to three eggs - 3k
Garnet and aquamarine: Three to four eggs - 4k
Alexandrite and beryl: Four to five eggs - 5k
Sapphire and ruby: Five to seven eggs - 7k
Diamond: Seven to ten eggs - 10k

Single breeding:
This is for people who have a dragon, male or female, but have no other dragon to breed with. Also, there must be less than five roleplays with the dragon (zero to four roleplays). Colors and markings will come partly from the parent dragon, and partly from the imaginations of the colorist doing the breeding. For the female, she will have a random clutch, while the male will find a random clutch to claim as his own.
Gems:
Lapis
Opal

Random breedings:
These are, to put it bluntly, random breedings. That is, one or both of the dragons have been roleplayed less than five times (zero to four), and neither are life mated.
Gems:
Lapis
Opal
Turquoise
Moonstone

Regular breeding:
Same as above, but between two unmated dragons with five to nine roleplays each, two of which must be with the other dragon in the breeding.
Gems:
Lapis
Opal
Turquoise
Moonstone
Garnet
Aquamarine

Regular mated breeding:
Same as above, but the two dragons are mated, with five to nine roleplays each, three of which must be between the two dragons, with one of those three showing the mating proposal.
Gems:
Lapis
Opal
Turquoise
Moonstone
Garnet
Aquamarine
Beryl
Alexandrite

Mated breeding:
Both dragons are mated, with a minimum of ten roleplays each, five of which must be with each other, and one of the five showing the mating proposal.
Gems:
Lapis
Opal
Turquoise
Moonstone
Garnet
Aquamarine
Beryl
Alexandrite
Ruby
Sapphire
Diamond

Rules:
- Only two same-species dragons may breed.
- No same-sex pairings. I don't have a problem with them, but I'm trying to make this more realistic. However, I may change this in the future.
- You can breed two of your own dragons, but you must pay full price for the gem.
- Follow the mating chart above; a single or random breeding can't get a diamond or ruby.
- The trade for the gem must come from the owner of the male dragon. I don't care if one person pays the full price, or if you split it somehow, but the trade must come from the owner of the male, because the male is supposed to offer the gem as a gift to the female, letting her know he is ready for a family. Send all trades to the mule.
- If you buy a gem from your price range, you will get the highest number of eggs. If you buy the second best you are capable of getting, the number of eggs you get will be random from that number.

For example: Say you wanted to have a regular mated breeding. If you buy the best gems available for that type of breeding (ruby and sapphire; five to seven eggs), you will get seven eggs. If you buy the next best type of gem instead of the best (aquamarine and garnet; four to five eggs), you will get either four or five eggs. If you buy any gem lower in quality than the garnet or aquamarine, you will get the minimum amount of eggs.
- You may only buy one gem at a time. That means, if you want to breed your dragons once, you may only buy one gem.
- You must wait until the eggs have turned into youths before the two parents (or one, depending on the breeding) will be able to breed again. If your dragons were mated before the breeding, and the gem you bought was the best or second best quality for your type of breeding, you are allowed to breed them once the eggs have hatched into chicks. Those who bought diamonds are able to breed again within a week, whether the eggs have hatched yet or not.
- Expect eggs within a few days to a week of sending the trade for the gem. If you complain about our speed, we'll only take longer to give them to you.
- If you have any questions, post them in the thread.
- PM all breeding forms to the mule. Remove everything in parenthesis, and make the title of the pm "Breeding form". Same goes for title of the trade; make the title of the trade "Breeding - ___" with the blank space replaced with the type of gem. Send all trades to the mule.
- Please have both owners PM me the form, so I know that both agree to the breeding.

Breeding roleplay rules:
- DO NOT roleplay your dragons breeding in the thread or the guild. Seriously. x_x If you NEED to do it, do it in pm's or somewhere else.
- For a roleplay to count, there must be at least five posts of yours that are at least four to five sentances long. That means, the roleplay consists of at least ten posts.
- If you have a roleplay where there aren't five posts with at least four to five sentances, you're allowed to have shorter posts, that are one to three sentances in length. To be able to get that, however, you need to have at least ten posts with one to three sentances each. That means, twenty (20) posts for the whole roleplay.
- Both owners must make the required amount of roleplays.

Breeding form:
This form is for all breeding types. Simply remove the parenthesis and edit in the information you need. I need one of these forms PMed to the mule from both owners. If you own both dragons, say so. Or, if it's for a single breeding, I only need one form, just put 'single' or 'random' in the "Breeding with" portion.
