hello everyone, and welcome to paquito's studio, a shop which provides unique, high-quality art of avatars, original characters, and "real life" people. i create works of art in both traditional and digital media, combining realism with a sense of wonder and fantasy to create images that are beautiful and one-of-a-kind. before i say anything further, i would like to stress that i know what my art is worth. before pricing my art, i have browsed extensively through Gaia's commission forum and come to a conclusion about my own work. if you are shocked or dismayed by my prices, keep in mind the caliber of my work and the amount of time i put into each piece. i don't do shoddy work just because these pieces aren't for "real money." i treat the Gaia commissions i do as if they were assignments or professional work, putting as much time, effort, and detail into perfecting them as is feasible

note: as i'm sure you all understand, i'm a busy person. please don't bother me about getting an extra slot if they're all full, unless you're a friend.

27 Dec 2005 - it's been a while, man. as soon as i am finished with other commish, i may open up 1 experimental slot. for now, you're better off watching for temp shops if you want to get art from me.
19 Nov 2005 - i currently have a CG auction going on. check my sig for a link! :3
20 Oct 2005 - i know, i know, i've been closed for a long time. after November 1st i should have some more time, since that's the deadline for the paintings i've been slaving away on. :] i'll open up a couple slots at that point
21 Sept 2005 - okay, after this round of commissions are finished, including the people in the "other" slot, i'm going to take a break from gaia commish for a while, because i need to take some time to work on doing art for myself and improving my art. smile stay tuned.
13 Sept 2005 - remodelling complete.
8 Sept 2005 - okay. there are going to be some changes around here, because i seem to be having a little bit of a burnout when it comes to watercolors. so i'm going to begin offering (as soon as i've finished up all the commissions on my current list) different media. the watercolors like they currently are probably won't be offered except in auctions; i'm going to start offering pencil pieces with a little marker for 20k and probably some experimental stuff for about 15k, where the media will be entirely up to me and you won't know exactly what you're getting. i need to loosen up and explore some new methods of making art.
3 Sept 2005 - finishing up most of the commissions on my waitlist; i'm going to keep the shop closed until i get Nighty's done because she's been waiting a bit, but it should be done later today. i am going to lower the price of CGs again because i'm ready to begin working in CG, but i'm also lowering the number of slots i have. sweatdrop i don't have as much time now that school has started.
28 Aug 2005 - sock doll auction
25 Aug 2005 - okay, here's the deal. i'm still working on the commissions i have, and i've started school, so it's going to take me longer. but if you're willing to wait week or two, go right ahead and snag that slot. i'm also considering having a SOCK DOLL auction where i'd make a sock doll of the highest bidder's OC or avi and then send it to them. yea? nay? let me know.

15 Aug 2005 - hey guys. okay, i updated my prices. sorry about the price on the CGs, but i really don't feel like doing CG unless you feel like paying out the nose for it. i have 3 more pieces to get finished before i open the shop back up. since school is starting the 23rd, you can expect me to have WAY less time at that point, and thus commissions will go much more slowly.
13 Aug 2005 - back from vacation. still closed until further notice; i'll probably open up again on Monday or Tuesday. 3nodding that should give me a few days to get reconnoitered.

29 July 2005 - after i finish Jo's 2nd CG, Alcestis' pieces, and 2krazi3's piece, i'm going to shut down for a few days. i've been doing so much art for the past few weeks - i really need to take a short break. next Saturday, i'm leaving for a weeklong vacation, during which time i will have no computer access and will be taking only traditional media commissions with me. 3nodding i'm also going to hold a short auction, to help with pricing issues, sometime in the near future.

rules
1. first and foremost, be polite. be as cordial and respectful as you would if you were meeting me in real life! i can't stress enough how far this goes and how much it will pay off for you in the future.
2. don't beg for art. i only do freebies for people i know. top bumper will receive a prize, however...don't bump excessively. i'd hate to see my page clogged with post after post of just little emoticons.
3. within my store, please follow all rules defined within the Gaia TOS, including keeping it around PG-13.
4. please read all of the information here before you order. it will make my life and yours much easier, and help us to have a great artist/commissioner relationship, and those relationships are what make me want to do more art for you.

15k single figure - 25k couples - add 5k if you would like marker color accents, add 5k if you would like a simple background.
please note whether you would like shading to be blended (sample four) or non-blended (samples one, two, & three).

in this style, you will not get to choose what media i use, or what pose. you give me an avi or OC, and a mood if you like, and i experiment with different poses and media. i promise it'll be worth your while; i'm not going to give you some piece of crap art and say "oh, it was experimental." however, you ARE relinquishing all control to me. this may be traditional OR CG, if i feel like it - it'll be a great way to surprise yourself.

i'm not going to put a form here. i think you're all capable of listing the following information about what you'd like. smile
-your name
- what media you want
- subject matter (i.e. your avi, your OC, you in real life) - as much description as you give me, i will follow. so if you want a really accurate picture, tell me all the nitty gritty little details!
- price (if you have items i want, make the offer of those here too)
- any extra details
remember, the more you tell me, the more accurately i can do what you want. however, i'm fine with "draw my avatar in this outfit and whatever pose you'd like" as well.

AS SOON AS i accept your commission, PLEASE SEND A TRADE. i will send you screencaps while i'm working on the piece and when i'm done i will confirm the trade.

CURRENTLY i am accepting items as payment for pieces. remember however that if your item is only worth 7k, i won't do a picture for it alone. so combine things! i am really flexible on what i'll accept in terms of items.

paquito, a.k.a. Katie, lives in Indiana, USA. she just returned from Baltimore, MD, where she participated in 4 weeks of an intensive art program at Maryland Institute, College of Art. she's been drawing as long as she could hold a pencil and now has 4 years of oil paint experience under her belt, as well as 6 years watercolor and more of pencil work and several years of intensive anatomy study. she is planning to go into the art field professionally. she loves music, including the bands Third Eye Blind, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Incubus, Bush, Spoon, and many more. she is a movie addict as well; some of her favorite movies are Blade Runner, L.A. Confidential, Memento, Collateral, and many many more. she also enjoys reading and (occasionally) playing video games. she has a pet gerbil named Vergil and 2 birds named Mr. and Mrs. Bird. she is also awesome at karaoke

I'm also an art major. I typically don't do anime, but since this is my 1st summer off from college since like 8th grade I figured I'd break the rules of art school and do some cheesy anime, thus abominations.

yes, i don't think i've done anime since like 6th grade. my first real "people drawings" were sort of a lame copied anime style and they evolved from there. sometimes i'm curious to go back and see if i can still do it.

there's nothing like staring at a naked, unattractive man for 3+ hours.

i think sometime i'm going to stop by your shop again and order from you. heart if you stick around i'll probably do a doodle for you!

I took a figure drawing class last semester, which was really interesting. One thing that sucked about it was that the teacher always used the same 4 models... it was nice at first but as the semester progressed, I need variety. scream

I feel so naughty for drawing anime.. if you like I could show you some of my more serious art. Most are paintings.

-that would be cute if you did a doodle, that is of course if you want to. ^-^
