Fa'e are a race of magical children reborn. All created by Anya!, these children were the first RPable breedable "pets" to have journals in the Breedables subforum. Anya! has been creating Fa'e for over a year now, and I've been lusting after one since last June.

I first came upon the Fa'e when I saw Mordath (Sabin Duvert's Fa'e) in a signature. I asked, "What is that? It's so cool!" and I was pointed in the breedables direction. I haven't looked back since. XD

In all honesty, Anya!'s art was what drew me in at first. Being the n00blet I was, I didn't understand the concept of having a story behind a character and loving them like your own creation.

The first contest rolled around, I entered, and lost. Of course, I learned from this mistake later on. I began to twist and dream up my own Fa'e creation, and Callix was the result. I've entered all the other contests in hopes to bring him to life with no luck. But still! I shall perservere!

Name - Callix

Meaning of Name - "Handsome" or "beautiful" in Greek. (The actual spelling is 'Calix', but, for some odd reason, I copied it down with two L's instead of one. It's just grown on me that way.)

History - European legend tells of sadistic, selfish monsters roaming the innocent countryside. Humans, going about their day-to-day lives, were the prey stalked by these creatures of the night. The Frenchmen called them "Incubus" - creatures which preyed on their women at night by drinking their energies. Many a tale had been passed down through generations about these disgusting beasts. Men had never physically seen one with his own eyes, but the women who survived had tales to tell indeed...

Incubi and their Sisters, the Succubi, were born without names. There was no need, as they never formed loving or lasting bonds with anyone. They, for all their knowledge, could not be hurt, heartbroken, or killed. They lived infinite, solitary lives, never needing to fear the pains of having a soul. One such Incubus, though, was an extraordinary case.

One day, without a name, family, or fear, one Incubus was doing what came naturally - stalking a young, beautiful woman. She was Irish, long red hair flowing in the wind as she cleaned her linens. He had been watching her for weeks, waiting for the most opportune time. He stalked no other woman during this time, his brethren calling him "obsessed". He dismissed these accusations with a casual air. He was only doing what they were born to do.

Thus, the Incubus had finally come upon his moment. In the dead of night, like a lion in the savanna, he crept up to the dreaming maiden's bed. There, standing over her unprotected form, fangs bared, his heart stopped.

...so innocent...

As the moonlight drifted through her open curtains, the silver waves landed upon her sleeping form. Encircled in this glowing halo, she appeared to him a goddess; one so pure, innocent and beautiful that for the first time in his life, he felt the flutter of a Lover's Heart within his chest. He had fallen in love.

Months passed without the Incubus disclosing his true form to his beloved, nor did she know of his existence. He stood by silently, protecting her from the cruel intentions of his Brothers. She went on about her life, completely unaware. Soon, he began to write her letters and poetry, delivering them in the safety of the moonlight. She read his endearing letters of affection and began to fall in love with him as well. She would call out to him,

"My love, why do you not show yourself to me?"

It pained him, but he could not show his grotesque form to her. Incubi and their Sisters were regarded as the most horrid forms of life. How could he scar her by showing himself to her? Soon, though, the pain grew too great.

The maiden sang peacefully at the edge of Dragon's Mouth Lake. Her hair floating in the wind as her voice carried across the water. The Incubus, his heart aflutter, cast his voice to her in a whisper. She listened, her heart soaring as his did. Finally, fear aside, he stepped forward into her vision. She turned to look upon the body of her lover...

She screamed. "A demon?!" The pain in her heart and the fear in her soul drove her to madness. She quickly drown herself before her demonic admirer could stop her. Filled with sorrow and anger, the Incubus tore out his own heart, setting it afloat in the water next to the body of his love.

+ Dragon's Mouth Lake is a lake in Ireland where the Irish God of Love, Aengus, fell in love with a swan maiden. n_n

Personality - Selfish, vain and prideful. Those three words describe Callix to a tee. As a baby, he will not develop quite these strong of personality traits, but he would stop at nothing to have all female attention on him. As he grows, he starts to care more about his appearance, care more about his wardrobe, and care more about gaining status among the women.

His selfish tendencies will not cease until he reaches an older age, then realizing that his time on Gaia is a blessing, and should not be spent vying for females and dressing scantily. After this elightenment of sorts, Callix becomes more husband material than that of a lover in a romance novel. He concentrates more on the love of his life, rather than every girl in the world.

Appearance - There are only a few things about Callix that I would want to specify, should he ever be reborn. His large, white bat wings, his straight red hair and the heart tattoo near his left hip are all important parts of my vision of him. Everything else I would gladly leave up to Anya! (Heck, if she wanted, she could change his hair color.)

Abilities - At the beginning of his rebirth, Callix does not have any magical abilities, save for his cute baby charms. His wings are not fully developed and he cannot fly. Later on in life, (the child years and onward) Callix will learn the Incubus ability to fly, charm women and cast very weak illusions.

Legends like the ones about Incubi and their sisters, the Succubi, circulate all aroud the world. The myth I used came from ancient Europe, in an area called Gaul (now known as France and thereabouts).
