The story of the Aeair
[size=9]Deep in the woods of Gaia, a den lay, full with the eggs of a creature never seen by any living soul, save Siyanna Twilight. She discovered these amazing creatures a few days ago, and was now caring for their eggs in an attempt to keep their wonderful species alive.
About a week ago, Siyanna was walking through the woods near her home, when she came upon a naked baby bird, about the size of a small dog. She picked the bird up slowly, pressing it to her chest in an effort to keep it warm. The bird let out a small cry and reached out one of its clawed feet, scratching Siyanna on the arm. “Hey! I’m trying to help you, you know.” She said, smiling slightly. “Hmm…I guess I should look around for your nest, eh, little one?”
After a few minutes of searching the deep foliage, she came upon a hole that looked large enough to house several wolves. Looking down at the little bird, she decided it could not possibly come from something underground. Turning, she started to make her way back to where she had found the baby, when she saw a large feather lying near the entrance to the den. ~Hmm….Maybe…Just maybe…~ Wrapping the baby in some leaves for the night, she placed the baby in the den, and started to make plans for a camp.
Knowing that some animal parents abandon their offspring if they detect a foreign smell on them, she set her camp up a small distance from the den. She wanted to be near enough so she could watch to see if the baby would be deserted, but she didn’t want her own smell to repel the parents.
That night, she was awakened by a rustling sound coming from the area near the den. She moved quietly, looking toward the den. Two magnificent beasts stood, facing away from her, their heads near the den’s entrance. ~Oh…These must be the parents…~
A small smile crossed her face, but it was swept away as she watched the beasts snort at the baby she had put back in the den. Their heads rose up, and they turned, walking back the way they had come, with not so much as a backward glance at the baby they were leaving.
Siyanna waited until they were out of sight, and then ran to the den, sadness filling her. She leaned down and picked up the baby, cradling it in her arms. ~Well, I guess you will be coming with me…~ As she brushed the leaves off of the baby, she suddenly noticed five eggs in the den. ~Oh, no…There are more of them…~ Placing the baby gently on some leaves, she carefully picked up each of the eggs, putting them in a pack she had been planning to use to gather gemstones in a mine near her home.
When she had packed all of the eggs, she swung her bag on her back, making sure to be extra careful. As she slowly made her way toward her home, a small smile crossed her face. ~Well, I guess I will have to find good owners for all these eggs, although I think I will keep you, little one…~ With that thought, she slowly started for home, cooing to her newly found friend.
Within a few years Siyanna had gotten tired of breeding the Aeair and gave the breeding shop to new people, people that seemed to be strong willed and able to look after the shop better, Autumn, Raven, and Alex.
