Name: Samuel Dexter Wallace

Age: 24

Race: Human (male)

Organization: Andel Government Special Agency (AGSA)

General Appearance: Somewhat stocky, he may appear to be an awkward person but his movements are usually sure and he is not clumsy. His clothing is usually on the casual end of formal wear. In other words, he keeps it stylish to the best of his knowledge, but he also doesn�t want to scare off any Celestials he might have to interview that are distinctly of the lower class. In fact, he might dress down for such, er, clients. He likes darker colors because they are less distracting. His hair is a dark brown, above-the-shoulders cut and his eyes are a hazel color. Body Type

General Personality: He is very purposeful, but if he is thinking about it instead of acting on it, he can look like he�s drifting off, bored or even falling asleep. Of course, he might actually be bored. He is nice because he usually wants information and tends not to judge people right off. He�d rather judge the information they gave him as true or not, or at least interesting or not. He expects people to be honest with him because he looks at some of the facts he collects as just that, impersonal facts, so why would any one lie about them? But that is just his instinct, and he does know that to some people it is very personal and they have many reasons to lie�or they are just dishonest people. He is usually certain that he can weed out a lie from the truth eventually.

History: Samuel grew up in a moderately affluent household of merchant and �noble� blood mix, making many of them a sort of half breed that would threaten the upper class if it were not allowed into it because of the money they have accumulated� luckily, their few blood/marriage connections to others of the upper class serve to settle the matter.

He was pushed gently into government work by his family in order to keep his upper class status. Whether or not they were right, his parents thought that if he made a mess of himself it would not be glossed over (or covered up) by the police as it might be for other nobles, but used to hurt the family�s tenuous relations to the rest of the city. He didn�t mind because he was ambitious, a trait he inherited from his mother and the examples of other relatives, especially his grandfather who had been a successful merchant. Almost in contrast to his ambitions, he was always interested in folk tales and legends. He was not strictly interested in what was outside of the city, since not many people like to think about that, but some of the legends he sought after were concerned with such things. Others were concerned with Celestials, and he showed the most interest in those and other creatures that he generally assumed to be extinct or pure fiction. He did not hide his interest, and since he had general knowledge on the subject the government fitted him with a job collecting fables and myths specifically regarding such creatures.

When he first got the job Samuel thought it might be a semi-private collection that a family of nobles were interested in accruing, or general research that the government found important to the literary history of the city. He didn�t really care because the research itself seemed something he was born for. Then he was told what it was really about and decided that it would be much more interesting to learn about Celestials directly.
The government let him do this after his (five year?) contract with the research group expired. They had been planning to have much of the research team switch to consultants any way after most of the work was done and the stream of information-through-stories became a trickle. Samuel had no drastically important skills they needed elsewhere, so they trained him and set him loose as an interviewer. Because he�s relatively new to the job, though supposedly well-versed in the related lore, they gave him a crotchety old partner.

Best Skill: Remembering arcane facts in a general sweeping sense that�s usually more helpful than remembering dates�unless, of course, it�s an appointment you meant to keep.

Worst Skill: Math. Some people can do math in their heads�he can barely do it without a calculator, and he doesn�t keep one around.

Species: A type of wizard/magic user thingy who by oath has become a Lonesome (a monk/hermit).

Hair: long, light brown. He simply doesn't cut it.

Physical appearance: Almost tall and just around skinny. He's never been a strong man, but he has developed a certain toughness (as well as sloppyness hahaha) from living on his own, as well as a strong will to live. He has a commanding presence that he picked up from his youth, and wears light grey clothes of a simple design instead of anything ornate to back up his "commanding presence:" it's all in his eyes, his stance, and his quick temper. Personality: Orin is a cranky man that has the capacity to have a good heart, a heart he shows best when he insists on the importance of promises and holds to certain ideals he aquired automatically in his youth, such as it's important to help people in need, important to be honest and not steal, and it's important not sleep in the same room as a woman. These ideals he takes for granted, and when he's questioned about them he's either frustrated at the asking or adament about keeping them. He's rather under the illusion that the quick temper he remembers from his youth has gone away, but really he hasn't had any people to get mad at, and since he loves his studies and he loves the animals and other creatures around him, his temper has lain dormant. He doesn't think of himself as lonely, but he's been alone so long he hardly remembers how to talk (and thus when he does his voice is sometimes flat or otherwise incorrectly controlled, depending on his determination, temper, and/or frustration) and he keeps his findings to himself and hates for his studies to be interrupted. He's bit bitter because the occupation he's chosen as a Lonesome is not very well understood by other people, and he has the feeling they hold him in contempt for choosing the path he has. He likes horses; only animals and his studies ever seem to make him smile-- sometimes even like an awed boy, and he'll do almost anything to get back to them undisturbed.
History: Orin was raised in a small villiage, according to his noble family's wishes, but when he was almost 15 he decided that he wanted to join the council, a thing that was almost a rumor instead of fact in the villiage he was raised. He set out on a long hike there, and learned everything he could in the five years before he left. He has never quite felt a part of the council, though not because of any lack of ability, and followed an inexplixable calling to wander off on his own and take the Lonesome Oath at 20 in the place he is now, a 'holy' stretch of land near a stream at the woodsy foot of a mountain. He swore to his studies, observing spirit/magic creatures that seemed to live there, entirely on his own. He keeps a diary of his findings, but most of the study involves simply beeing where he is at and a sort of meditation or concentration that makes talking to the spirits easier. He's very protective of this land, partially to save any travellers from angering the land, and has managed to stare down or frighten away the few people who have wandered too close. The souless have come once, but they only passed through and did not attack.

Name: Kanlay Duuan
Age: 18
Height: 5�2�
Physical: Kanlay�s eyes are grey, her hair black and curly, often clipped or tied back enough to keep it out of her face while she is working. She would tan in the sun if she were ever outside, but since she has spent most of her life inside and relatively malnourished, her skin is very pale and her body petite. Initially this was because she didn�t always get the food she needed, but since she was hired a year ago this has been self-perpetuated in response to her master�s taste for women younger and therefore smaller (or as small) as her.

Outfit: Officially she was hired to help serve food and work in the kitchen for the big mansion. This means that at events and in the public eye she would have a server�s/waitress outfit. Ruffled/wide rimmed skirt at or above the knees, white. Dark nylons or leggings and elbow-sleeved shirt of the same color, low neckline. Flat bottomed stiff shoes with smooth material-- white?
Unofficially, she was hired to placate to the owner�s sexual fantasies and the expectations of other nobles staying as his guest. This means that her other work outfit would be lingerie/nightgown. Some of the more practical nightgowns she might wear on a regular basis during the cold season�otherwise she sleeps in nothing.
History: Kanlay was born in a poor and poorly run country where hordes of peasants dropped their children off at government-run orphanages because they were too poor to take care of them themselves. The orphanages, which were understaffed and poorly funded to begin with, soon became overrun. The government took care of this by selling the older children into slave markets in other countries. Kanlay went through a few moderately horrific child labor organizations in her current country of residence. Her current master was touring his investments and picked up a few new slaves for his mansion during the tour, including Kanlay. That was a year ago and Kanlay�s double purpose is supposedly a secret from his wife, but since then she has also taken the privilege to acquire a few handsome young male slaves from the market in town. Kanlay has served in one feast and several smaller events held at the mansion on top of her every day serving/kitchen duties.

Comments: The setting for this (originally an RPG) was a joke between a friend and myself, the period a sort of clandestine medieval/low technology setting, not quite fantasy. Even her first name is a joke (say it outloud, it�s a very bad one) and originally my friend�s character played the opposite role, the main slave for the woman of the house. Although I�ve developed Kanlay�s character since then she often finds her life full of unpleasant situational ironies.
To Artists: (References) If you want to include other characters/NPCs, fine, you have total control over how they might look. But all pictures should be tasteful and appropriate to be linked from or posted on Gaia Online. If you can make it tasteful I don�t really care what the setting is, what position she is in, etc.

Name: Austin Striedlin. Austin comes from the Latin augere, meaning to increase: Austin means great or venerable.

Personality Type: INTP (Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceptive)
Age: 16-20's
Height: 4'11" (That�s right, SHORT)
General Appearance: White male. Sandy blonde hair, layered cut. Blue eyes. Medium to slight build, usually in good shape and suggesting agility. He would probably wear just about any thing, but usually he�ll either be attending semiformal/formal meetings (as in the computer business or with the government) or blending in with middle class computer geeks. Personality: Fairly easy to get along with because he is fairly outgoing and people-intuitive. He has an unstable side, stronger in RPs where he has stuck with the �bad� side. This is because, obviously, the bad side is bad for him. He started out on the wrong foot, trained to be on the wrong side since he was very young, and the more control his past has over him, the more deadly and unstable he can be. Not cowardly usually, but tending to not take action because he is introspective. Only training overrides this, such as training in fighting arts. Highly intelligent. Good at computers and other such mathematics.
History: Austin was given up for adoption because his parents, two bright peoples of some undetermined occupation (I�m lazy), didn�t want a kid. He was adopted out to a family that adopted many children, the one he was closest to (and closest to in age) being Lawrence. When he calls him his brother, people look at him strangely because Lawrence is black, and bigger than he is. The government (SCU) trained him as one of their agents since he was a child, specializing in scouting for other agents of similar interests and talents, emergency assassination, and more technical aspects of scouting. An example of this last one would be programming a computer simulation to test agent�s abilities. This means that although he has been given extensive self defense training, assassination is NOT his forte. Not all secret agents assassinate.
The government he is trained by is nation-wide or larger. In most RPGs he has stumbled across information about the government he works for, classified information that disturbs him and shakes his faith in them at least temporarily. This would be an experiment of some sort or other completely inhumane action against regular citizens, not dangerous rebels. In some he has even been captured by rebel factions and played an ambiguous role in the rebels� organization as a mole before converting to their side. When he is still with the government, his cover is generally a math teacher at some college or other where he is actually looking out for exceptionally bright students.

Lastly, in various RPGs Austin owns many cats. biggrin Or at least one. Drawing him with cats makes Penden happy. Here are some cats and their names:

Name: Alexander Kiplin

Age: 19-25

Appearance: White human male, not particularly handsome. ^.^;; Sometimes very pale skin because he is sickly, but he spends time outside when he is well enough to travel. Burns more than tans. Dark brown hair that is almost black-- clean shaven face and short hair. Usually in a technologically stagnant fantasy setting, so barber shops may be few and far between in which case he would cut it himself above the shoulders. Tall (6'1" wink and lean, almost gangly, like a teenager just after a growth spurt but before the muscles/meat fill in. This is also because he has been sick often. He may look stronger than he actually is because of high muscle tone-- he tries to keep active when he can.
He will wear anything practical-- especially in greens, browns, and warm greys-- that he can buy for a good value and find a use for. So, a midlength cloak perhaps of leather for rain proofing. Long-sleeved, light material (cotton?) shirt, not tucked in. Practical slacks or other pants that hang loose. Long socks when it's cold, mide length heavy boots that buckle/snap, not tie. Shorts would be knee length in warmer weather, or slacks simply rolled up. Now jewelry. He might wear a leather vest if no coat, and a belt or chest holster for a knife and small purse (if belt). Sometimes gloves and arm braces.

Personality: Lex can be a very unpleasant person to be with. He holds a strong hate for any person with magic abilities, claiming that they throw around their spells like toys. He explains to some people that he is "alergic" to magic, but that is not quite true and he hates giving away even that much. He's very mean to people when they ask about him-- his past or present-- or if they try to heal him. His anger is unreasonable for someone who refuses to forewarn the people he meets about his condition. However, he can be very nice to humans or animals that appear to him to be disadvantaged by the same forces he is. A starving dog is a victim of mages/elves "wasting" their abilities on "parlor tricks" instead of doing good. A traitor or theif is victim of circumstance, unless of course they are betraying or robbing him. Someone dressed well is a "lucky son of a b***h" that doesn't want anything to do with him. He'll hang out in places the lower classes do, and he'll curse atrociously when the situation lends itself.

History: Plagued by an unfinished, self-sustaining death spell that sucks in compatible surrounding magic to try to complete its many directives (and sometimes invents new ways to torture him). Alex serves its (evil) castor under the threat that the spell can be completed at any time, and sometimes also under the benifit of having the affects of the spell minimized. He mostly runs errands/carries messages. The castor may promise eventual freedom and even devise a way to draw off some of the capture magic before the spell can employ it against Alex. This gives him relief and the castor a minor source of power. In some RPGs Alex has been frozen/preserved at times when his mastor has little use for him.

If Alex wanders far away enough then his master cannot locate him to finish off the spell (which is attached to Alex). Once this happens Alex may resort to running and avoiding cities with a ton of magic in them. He may also look for a "cure" if a person or institution seems knowledgeable enough. He may also search after some of his past as a young child, before this disastor, in part of a search for a cure. He would probably hire himself out as a mercenary when he needed food and money.

Lex will often binge drink or take other drugs to kill any pain experienced because of his "allergies." Most medicincal cures are magical and he goes to great lengths to avoid those. Alcohol, on the other hand, is relatively safe but a very temporary solution. Bars are also simple where some of the lower class hang out and that makes it more appealing to him.

He will often be afraid to sleep with a girl, paranoid that she has a subtle magic talent that he does not wish to tangle with. Also, while he is in pain or very sick, he simply doesn't have an interest in it or the energy for it. However, he does enjoy scandalous entertainment and has been known to act more affectionately and friendly when drunk. He does not like the idea of getting a girl pregnant since he wouldn't stick around for the baby, or probably long enough to even find out she was pregnant. Kids annoy him because they are loud and ask well-meaning questions.

Super Long Ago History: A normally reclusive band of elves found Alex as a baby after the traveling party his mother had been with was destroyed. These elves were enamored more of the forest and certain crafts. They held some (ancient razz ) knowledge about these things that other elves did not -- as most elvin clans did, except that this clan was one of the most reclusive. Alex learned a few of the legends taught to the Elvish children but little else before the entire camp was attacked and destroyed by his current master. Or, possible, just a part of the camp was destroyed in a raid, but Alex has heard since that people believe the whole band of elves and whatever knowledge they had have been lost. He was only five or six when it happened, so he could neither say for sure himself nor find the forest they had lived in to search for more clues. During this raid/massacre is when the spell was cast on him but the castor was interrupted and decided to capture him instead because Alex was a human, and therefore more maliable than an elf.

Name: Benjamin (English/German from the Hebrew "son of the south" or "son of the right hand" wink Rike (German-- short form of "Peaceful Ruler" wink
Age: 24
Eye color: Brown
Hair color: Brown
Skin Color: tan/red
Class: Rogue
Clothing: On Earth, Benjamin would wear jeans and some sort of shirt that didn't have stains, tucked in. Black boots or working shoes and socks. However, in his new life as a rogue, he would want more leather and more dark shades, such as black slacks, with an overcoat or trenchcoat of some sort.
Weapon: A small crossbow; hard to draw back, but worth the effort. Another weapon Benjamin would be interest in is something like an Ebo, which is very small stick (about 15 cm). So, basically, a small club or a small knife. Umn, he hasn't named his crossbow yet.
History: Benjamin grew up tending horses. His family ran a stable in the country (duh) that both housed horses for a fee and gave horse riding lessions. He took up many responsibilities as he grew older, first feeding, brushing, and saddling the horses themselves, then overseeing these things while he learned to put up and repair fences and other parts of the establishment. He ended up co-running the place so that his parents could retire but he didn't always get along with the other workers, whether they were above or below him. He was often very quiet, and in a smallish town where people liked to buddy up by talking a lot or rough housing. A lot of people would take his silence for disapproval or snobbishness and end up causing a commotion for him later. As co-owner of the establishment he has taken a few trips to larger cities to meet people, so he has been other places than his home town.
Personality: As mentioned above, Benjamin is usually quiet. If he's trying to work out a problem, talking can completely disrupt his train of thought, and most manual labor can be done with out talking. In fact, sometimes trying to keep up a conversation is down right exhausting if you're also trying to put up a fence. He has no trouble speaking, though, if he has something to say. He is patient and methodical more often than he is passionate and impulsive. If he found himself incredibly pationate about any thing, he wouldn't quite know how to act. For instance, if stumbled upon a stablehand purposefully abusing or neglecting the horses he might beat them up. Upon reflection, he would decide that bringing the person to the law might have been the wiser decision, but the beating would have already been done and over with. In other words, when he's passionate his actions don't always follow what he beliefs should be done in that situation.
Benjamin is either in a "Realistic" setting still on Earth, or sucked into a fantasy world where he becomes a rogue.
