Yesh sir'ee I here remember the good ol' days of how these darn fine lottos started. There was this young fella, name of Angsty Shem ya see, he was the one who started a thread that gave gold out to a person who made a post on a specific page. There were a lot of threads like that, but Angsty Shem gets the credit for it. And they were called spam lottos back then, because thats what they really were and Gaia was a less crowded place and the odd spamming thread here and there was necessary. So time went on and people got hooked and friendships were formed and when the first lotto ended....well the participants didn't know what to do with themselves. So they started another one, and another one, and even more after that. Some folks recon the lottos have a magical power of their own, and I believe 'em. Its like most other things that are born and grow and get a life of their own, the spam lottos were here to stay and nothing was going to stop 'em, even though many tried.

Us old folk call it the dark age of the spam lottos. I think it was Fleeccee or Reyn, can't remember who it was as the years pass and my memory grows dim, who was hosting a spam lotto when out of the deep dark places of the earth there came a mod who decided that as the lotto thread was just spam it deserved to be thrown into the festering pit of the chatterbox. There was much outcry and a great war was fought, as the participants struggled to restore the lotto to its former home. And they were victorious, though the lotto had to evolve to be allowed back. That was how the hybrid lottos were born, using a small lotto type thing in the first post to 'legalize' the spam lotto.

Interesting to note that the spam/hybrid lottos have always been 'free' to the participants, someone always volunteers (or gets volunteered like DM ) to host the thread and give out a prize. Yes sir, its a nice friendly little place on gaia where people have found good friends and nice people.
