Always wanted a background for your avatar instead of the dull white next to your post?
Well HERE is the petition for a feature like this.</center>

So far, as my suggestions, I'm thinking of:
customization of backgrounds(like, an actual avatar on other sites and you could put your own picture in)
Site-provided backgrounds(school, city, downtown, buildings of choice, park, other things like this).
Summary: If user backgrounds were to be implemented, users would have to host them on their own, Gaia woldn't host the user made backgrounds.

A suggestion would be that to help gaia save some bandwidth, that the backgrounds must be hosted off another side.... like photobucket or tinypic.com
I'm sure the gaian admins would think higher of this petition if the idea of self-hosted backgrounds was involved 3nodding
that way the image is entire up to the user!

This'd be a great idea, especially when you wear clothing that's so light it looks horrible against white bgs.
The only problem I see is that the forums will look HORRIBLE with blocks of color behind every avatar. sweatdrop
Perhaps a choice for forum background colors to be viewed on your end, managable in profile?
