Diary entry 6-13-05
I haven't written in this journal for some time now. I feel really bad about it to. But I just don't have enough time nowadays. It's tiring enough with three little girls running around the house. But just recently an old friend of my mother has gotten ill. I've been traveling back and forth to her house every day now. It takes about 45 minutes to get to her house. I don't know how I can keep this up. The doctors say that she requires daily care. Not to mention the fact that she'll need an aid of some sort once she finishes having surgery for her hip next week.
I know that she has no one else to call on except for me. She can't stay in the house all alone. She's done so much for me growing up. But I can't go along with trailing the girls into her house like that. It's only but so big. It also doesn't help that the girls don't like to stay in cramped places for too long.
*sigh* I really need to figure out what to do...

Play Time!

Taryn hummed lightly to herself while flipping through a magazine. It had nothing in it, but pictures of celebrities, and the latest gossip. True, that she couldn't read, but surely she wasn't picking up anything good from the pictures.
Dia, meanwhile was taking a much needed shower. With Squishler and Miylin gone, she only had one person to worry about. And Taryn, was usually no trouble when she's left alone.
Flitch wondered around beyond his neighborhood by himself, it was the first time. Nychii was at home studying for that 'Finals' of hers, she kind of waved him away when he asked so he assumed it was a yes. He continued down a few streets and an allyway, finally the strange houses came to an end and he stood in front of one he vaguely remembers although he wasn't sure when or where he had seen it.
Walking up to a nearby window, he stood on his tippy-toes and peeked in and saw someone he knew. No wonder he recognized this house, it's Taryn's! He managed to reach out a hand and knock on the glass frame then fell back. Getting back up, he jumped up and down waving his arms, "Hello?"
Taryn's eyes darted to the front door as she anxiously made her way over to it. Who could this be? They weren't expecting any visitors. Just as she swung the door open, Dia's voice echoed through from the bathroom.
"TARYN? DON"T OPEN THE DOOR WITHOUT LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOW!", she shouted. She told Taryn this over and over again.
Taryn eye's widened as she hurriedly, placed a hand over Flitch's mouth and with the other signaled him to be quiet. She always forgot.
"I DID MOM! IT FLITCH AT DOOR...CAN I OPEN?", she shouted back.
"SURE!", was Dia's reply.
Taryn turned to Flitch with a grin, and finally held her arms open wide.
"What you doing here?", she asked.
Flitch watch Taryn running over to the door, by the time she was there he was waiting for her to open up. The route stayed firmly in his head, he'll know the way back when he needs to leave.
As Taryn opened the door, Flitch made ready to say hello but was cut off with a shout from some rooms in front. Apparently, it was Dia...Flitch wasn't quite sure where although he could tell that the door was closed as Taryn shouted back with a hand over his mouth muffling his greeting. Once the okay was given from the guardian, he was able to breathe safely.
Hugging Taryn, he answered her question, "...breaking in." Then laughed at his own joke, "I actually don't know. I got here by walking down three blocks, turning down an allyway, then turning left, continuing straight and..." He looked up at the ceiling thoughtful after he left go of Taryn, "I think that's it..."
Dia giggled at Flitch's response. "You so silly! You walk all by yourself? Wow.. my mom won't ever let me do that", she commented while placing her hands on her hip.
"She think I'm baby". Her face wrinkled up at this last part. Realizing that she was probably being rude, she stepped back so that Flitch could enter if he wanted to.
Flitch giggled at Taryn's face placing a hand over his mouth as to not appear rude. "Mommy's busy, when she's like that, she doesn't really notice anything. As long as I get back before she notices." Which I normally do, Flitch thought to himself smugely. He had memorized his neighborhood and some of the surrounding areas, he couldn't possibly get lost, at least he hopes.
As Taryn stepped aside, Flitch wondered in and remembered the spot where Nychii had falled and gotten a bloody nose. He grinned, then turned around to face Taryn, "So what you wanna do?"
Taryn nodded to show that she understood. "Tch, Dia always watching me. Watch me too much. You lucky".
She turned to stare down the hallway, before facing Flitch again and frowning. "I don't know.. We can go in playroom?", she offered. "It have toys, cool books, and t.v. Or we can go play on jungle gym outside"
The toddler didn't really care about what they would end up doing. She was just happy to have someone to play with. He was the only real Sin'aeis that she had managed to have fun with since she became a toddler. Her sisters were both out at dance class. She would have joined them, had she not had two left feet.
Flitch wiggled his ears, it seemed more amusing to be outside then inside. Asides from that, he'd never seen a jungle gym before although he's heard of them in books. Everything he knows and had experienced are in books. Which reminded him that he was suppose to teach Taryn to read or else Kilah might beat him up or something...
Well, he didn't really want to read at the moment, opening his mouth and then closing it repeating this fish like gesture a few times as he decided. Finally, he managed to say something instead of looking as though he was gawking, "...do you want to read or playoutside?" Playing outside seemed interesting but then reading was a lot of fun too! Imagining the story makes it really fun. That's why he enjoyed books so much afterall.
Dia watched Flitch trying to decide, and couldn't help but laugh a bit. He made the oddest facest.
"Sorry", she sputtered before relaxing herself. "Um.. we can play outside, and the come inside later if you want. It not going to stay light out forever", she reasonded.
And as though that confirmed everything, she led the way to the back of the house. On her way to the backdoor, she shouted that she was going outside with Flitch. She didn't want Dia to go worrying or anything.
It was bright and sunny day which made the idea to go outside even better. The backyard was a decent size for running around. However, it wasn't to be considered 'huge'. To the left was Dia's bed of flowers. On the right was the jungle gym and sandbox. Behind that was pretty much nothing, aside from an old kid size patio table with chairs.
She eagerly skipped ahead to the slide. "Come on!"
Flitch raised an eyebrow. What was Taryn laughing at? he wondered but didn't put too much thought into it as she decided that they should play outside and then come back in. "Yea! If that's okay with you, that's fine with me." Then the rest of the trip in the house was getting to the back door. This new setting was interesting and he observed all of the surroundings as he followed Taryn.
Finally they made it outside, the sun was still up high and shinning brightly. The rain boardcast that he had seen was completely off. He quickly glanced by the flower bed onto the jungle gym and sandbox. The park Nychii took him had a sandbox but not a jungle gym, it was the first time he'd deen one.
He ran after Taryn to the slides and smiling as he climbed to the top of the ladder. "I'm the King of the...Jungle!" he said it dramatically when he reached the top of the slides, the highest point on the whole jungle gym. He the did a series of mimicked goreilla sounds from some cartoon he had seen and laughed at his own attempt.
"Well then.. if you King of the jungle",Taryn said as she ran quickly to his side. "..Then I Prince- Er, Queen!", She had been referring to herself for so long as a princess that she almost forgot that it wasn't so high in royal standards.
She then bent over and pointed at Flitch while laughing. "I queen.. but I not no monkey like you!", she exclaimed before giving him a playful push, and sliding down the slide.
"Wheeeew", she squealed with both arms held up towards the sky.
Flitch considered and grinned, "I'm no monkey...I don't have a tailllll...." Taryn had pushed him, only gently but it tipped his balance a bit and he landed on his butt and he slid down the slide backwards waving his arms around frantically.
Thump. Flitch landed in the softsand box at the end of the slide. Hearing Taryn coming down, he tried to get back up and move out but it was too late. Another Thump followed by an "ow" could be heard muffled by the sand.
Taryn didn't even notice, poor Flitch, untill she was seconds away from landing. Had she had time to react, she would have hopped over the side of the slide or something.
"AHHH!", she shrieked before she landed right atop of him. Surprisingly, her first reaction wasn't her normal giggles. Rolling over to her side, she stared at Flitch, and have him a soft poke.
"Oops... you okay?", she asked while wincing as though feeling his pain.
Flitch layed there face first for a second longer, then quickly pushed himself up coughing up sand while laughing, which made the coughing worse than before. He looked like some crazy sand dude with little brown, gray and yellow dots all over his face and hair, but only for a momemt. He frantically brushed as much as he could off of himself and coughed up the rest of the sand.
Although the experience wasn't the most pleasant, he found it oddly amusing and somewhat fun. Quickly getting back up he pointed to the jungle gym, "Come on...erm, Queen! Let's do it again!"
Taryn eyed him curiously, before shrugging. He looked fine enough to her. "Okay.. but this time, try to land on your feet", she teased with a slight chuckle.
She ran back up to the slide, stuck her tongue out, and crossed her eyes tauntingly at Flitch, before pushing herself down it. Her landing was much more graceful this time. She bounced quickly to her feet, and turned to watch Flitch.
Flitch watched Taryn go up first. By what happened last time, it seemed best to stay behind and wait before going up right ahead or after Taryn. As the turkey girl stuck out her tongue at him and crossed her eyes, he made a face back pulling back his nostrals with one hand and pulling down the buttom of his lip with the other.
He let the face drop as Taryn slid down and made her landing, clapping softly. Then he ran up the ladder and down the slid. His way down was anything but graceful, halfway down the slid he somehow managed to roll over once and tip over the side, his pants caught on to something sticking out the side of the slide. Not daring to move, he just hung there his eyes rolling around, "help...?"
This time, Taryn was not worried about Flitch's safety. She erupted in a fit of giggles.
"Fllliitttcchh", she drawled while laughing. She pointed towards him while grasping her chest for air. The toddler started to make her way over to the side of the slide which he hung from, when she noticed that his pants was caught on something. That did not help the situation.
"Haha! What if pants rip?", she questioned as she looked up to him. Holding her arms out wide, she playfully offered,"Jump! I catch you!"
Flitch gave a few nervous giggles as he watched Taryn cracking up. Although the situation may appear funny to someone not being the one hanging, Flitch was the victum and felt every way a victum should.
Hearing Taryn's comment, his face turned a tinge of pink on his pale skin making him appear like the color of salmon. "Are you su...?" he watched Taryn below him but didn't even have the time to finish the question. His pants didn't ripe. The thing hanging out of the side cracked and tumbling down he went.
Flitch had landed on Taryn, this time it was for the girl to be laying in the sand. He got up and found the little screw that had fallen with him and picked it up, "I hope this isn't important..."
It would have been funny if Flitch's pants had ripped. Unfortanently, the toddler's thoughts were interrupted with other actions.
Taryn yelped as Flitch came tumbling down on her. Almost felt like de ja vu.. except for this time, she was the one feeling the heavy weight.
"You heavy..", she started to say while dusting herself off,"But I still catch you". She grinned as she said so. Even though, she hadn't really expect to catch him, or even try for that matter.
She eyed the screw, before taking it from Flitch, and tucking it into her pants pocket. "I don't know.. maybe mom know. Maybe we should leave slide alone for now..". Flitch and a slide just did not go. She had learn that small life lesson all too quickly.
Flitch eyed the slide as Taryn took the little screw, it probably wouldn't be safe going on it again. He wasn't even sure he wanted to try going on it again, or any other slide. It was amusing just for the moment but dangling by his pants hadn't been such a fun experience. "Yea, let's do something else."
Flitch glanced over the other area and spotted a few swings on the other side and ran over. He had played on these since, forever! He sat down upon one of them and started to move up and down, swinging..."Let's see who can go higher!" He loved the feel of wind in his face, one reason why he had taken up skates after Nychii.
"Oh, you're on!", Taryn piped up as she ran over to retrieve her own swing. She scooted herself up on the swing, and kicked off with her feet. It took a while to actually get some distance.
"Hmph! Stupid swing take too long", she complained while continuously kicked with her feet. In all honesty, she had only played on swings about twice by herself. And even then she only stayed for a few seconds. The task of pushing herself was too nervewrecking for her. She looked over to see Flitch's enjoyment.
"You make it look easier then it is". Silly toddler was too impatient.
"I'll race you to the moon!" Flitch shouted back at Taryn. Some say he had too large of an imagination, well only Nychii, but he didn't mind as this helped him make anything fun.
Flitch barely heard Taryn's complaints as he swung. This wasn't the first time that he had played this but it was the first time that he was competing, he had picked up some of Nychii's competive nature although he didn't mind losing when he did.
Now was so high above the ground that he was in danger of doing a whole rotation. "Come onnn..." This time he actually did do one, two, three, four and the swing came to a stop. Flitch got off staggering a bit as though he was drunk giving a sheepish grin. He stumbled behind Taryn and shook his head violently to get it straight again. "Do you want me to help?"
Taryn watched Flitch pump the swing higher.. and higher. Untill, he actually did a rotation?
"Whoaa.. that cool!", Taryn said as she watched him hop off of the swing. It even looked a bit scary, but of course, she wouldn't admit so.
"Help?", Taryn repeated. Normally, she liked to try things on her own. Call that arrogant being in her. But this time, she was actually open to it. Flitch obviously knew how to swing.
"Sure! Push me high!", she squealed while tugging the ropes of swing eagerly.
Flitch gave his dizzy head another shake as he gave Taryn a little push to begin with, then pushed harder and harder, of course not enough to push the girl entirely off the swings. He moved further and further back until Taryn was about mid-way and he stopped pushing and moved back to the front plopping down upon the sand.
He gaze up, covering his eyes with one hand as the sun shone into his eyes. "How's the view up there?" Flitch asked, he normally didn't pay attention to the view, the wind was all he cared about. A fish liking air, it was a strange thought even to Flitch himself.
Taryn felt.. wonderful! She liked being up so high! She truly felt like a bird. Too bad, she didn't have any wings. She wondered how it felt to fly.
"View is cool!", Taryn replied as she gave a quick glance down towards Flitch.
By now, she was able to keep herself swinging on her own. "I should come swing more".
Flitch gave Taryn one of those okay signs, and made his way to the swing that he had been on. "I'm coming up!" He pushed off and slowly made his way back up to the point where Taryn was and felt the breeze and opened his eyes. The view was strangely dizzy at first which made his stomach churm a bit, but he was use to it after a while. Guess he had a minor phobia of heights afterall.
Flitch stared at Taryn in front of him, their swing times were a bit different, when she was in front, he was in the back and vice versa. He pushed a bit on the side and moved sideways, this time he crossed Taryn just as she began to swing back running dangerously close, "Weheee....!"
Taryn kicked her feet out in the air happily. She looked over to Flitch, and cringed a bit as he came close. Too close for her. She considered opening her arms out when she soared up near the sky, but quickly shoke the thought away. What if she fell. Ehh, nevermind.
"I want fly like birds", Taryn said with a giggle. That's when a thought occured to her.. mostly, a person. Kilah. Could Kilah fly now? She had wings afterall. "You know Kilah?", she asked Flitch while looking over to him curiously. It was wierd how she never bothered to ask him before.
Flitch raised an eyebrow at the comment, fly? Wasn't Taryn a bird? Then he rethought about it, well Taryn didn't have wings, or ones that he could see. Was she really a bird? But then was he really a fish? He didn't have gills. The questions were pushed to the back of his head when he remembered Lore. I better not try and confuse myself again, he thought as he reached up higher.
With Taryn's question, Flich rubbed his ear wondering if he heard right, no she definitly said Kilah. He cringed just a little bit but then sat back up straight as though nothing had happened, "yea...I know her. It's a wonder if someone didn't." He gave one of those nervous laughs.
"Oh I never know that.. I not even think Kilah know other Sin'aies", she said after a moment. The Sin'aeis children definently needed to get together some time.
"Kilah my cousin. Know her since baby", she added with a pleasant smile. She started to say more when Dia suddenly appeared in the doorway. The toddler let the swing slowly come to a stop.
Dia frowned a bit, and made her way over. It was getting dark, and she was worried that Flitch was still over alone. "Uh, Flitch. It's getting late. Is Nychii coming for you?", she asked while crossing her arms across her chest.
"Really...you two are totally different," Flitch said surprised. They were more than just different. It's strange to think of them as even faintly related for some odd reason.
As Dia arrived and asked a bit crossed looking, Flitch stared up at the sky. The sun was setting, strange how time goes by so quickly. Instead of letting the swing come to a complete stop, Flitch jumped off about a quarter of the way down.
"You're right, Nychii'd probably be worried if I don't get home soon, she should be done...eh...'studying' by now," Flitch quickly ran over and thanked Dia then waved to Taryn. "I'll teach you to read next time!" Then took off out the house and down the streets.
What Taryn failed to add was that they weren't actual blood cousins. But a cousin was a cousin in her eye.
Taryn, sitting on the still swing, waved after Flitch. "Okay! ...Bye!"
Dia turned to watch him run off before looking back to Taryn with a smile. "And you young lady, need to be getting into the bathtub".
Taryn rolled her eyes slightly and hopped off the swing. "The things a princess has to do to stay cute", she muttered.
Dia couldn't help but chuckle at the toddler. Princess. Pifft.
Taryn hummed lightly to herself while flipping through a magazine. It had nothing in it, but pictures of celebrities, and the latest gossip. True, that she couldn't read, but surely she wasn't picking up anything good from the pictures.

Princess. Pifft.

Joyless News

"I'm positive Ms. Donna... I know that... I want to do it though... It's no problem at all... alright. I'll give you a call later on then. Okay... bye". Ms. Donna hung up her phone while her companion on the other end stood frozen for a few minutes. Finally she placed the reciever back in the cradle and paced around the room.
It was all settled. She knew what had to be done. Now came the hard part. Telling the girls.
Dia slowly made her way down the stairs and joined Squishler, Miylin, and Taryn in the playroom. They were all watching a Powerpuff Girl's movie, innocently as though they knew what news Dia had to bring them. She walked over to the screen and flipped the switch off.
"Hey, why you turn it off? It was getting good", Squishler complained while sitting up on the couch.
"Move over.. I have something to tell you guys", Dia replied while sitting in the middle of the girls. She didn't know why she was having so much trouble telling them. Perhaps it was the fact that she hadn't discussed it with the girls previously. She had simply made the arrangements.
"Now.. you guys know how sick Ms. Donna has been", she started while looking to each of the girls. They all stared back with blank expressions.
"Well.. she's going to have surgery, and it's going to be even harder for her to care for herself. You already see how hard it is for me to travel back and forth to make sure she's alright on a daily basis". She paused to take a deep breathe. "I've decided to stay with her and help her after her surgery". There she had said it.
"...Okay.. can we watch tv now?", Taryn questioned with a slight yawn.
Dia stared back at her with a confused expression. "Don't you get it? I'm going to live with her for a few weeks."
"Um, yea, so? Her house boring but at least she close to mansion", Taryn concluded matter factly.
"Oh wise up stupid", Squishler muttered while tossing a pillow at Taryn's head. "She's gonna live with her.. we can't go too. It's too small over there, duh!"
Dia narrowed her eyes at Squishler,"Don't be so mean!". She then turned to Miylin and Taryn. "She's right though.. I signed you girls up for a summer program though. Camp really", she explained while forcing a smile on her face.
"Camp?", all three girls repeated together. Even Squishler wasn't expecting to hear that.
"Yes camp... it's about an hour away from here. It's for ages 3-10. There are many different activties that you can sign up for. You'll be seperated though due to your age differences. You'll live in little dormitories."
"Whoa.. that sounds cool!", Miylin exclaimed with shining eyes. She was usually the quieter one who had little to no comments on such things. Obviously she was taken to this 'camp' thing.
"It's.. alright", Taryn replied lowely. Camp? She was going to camp? If it's an hour away, how will she see all of her friends? Who will she play with?
"Gah, Camp sounds boring. A bunch of kids signing around a stupid campfire", Squishler declared while folding her arms across her chest. Dia always came up with the oddest solutions. Why couldn't they just go along with her? Or stay at home by theirselves? She was responsible.. or so she thought.
"Hm, don't know about that. I heard that they offer... karate classes", Dia piped up while smiling at the Sneeple.
"Karate?", Squishler repeated while leaning over towards Dia.
"Yup. The the real deal".
'Wow.. okay, so maybe it's not so stupid. I have to prepare.. this could turn out cool afterwards. Maybe I'll learn how to knock someone out".
"Um, mom? Camp sounds far.. how will I get to see my friends at the mansion?", inquired while biting her lower lip.
Dia pulled the turkey girl close to her and rubber her hair. "I'm sorry sweetie.. but you won't see them unless it's on the weekend or something. It's just too far to bring you back and forth from there. But you'll make more friends at camp!"
Taryn frowned and hung her head. She didn't even bother to respond.
"Oh come on Taryn.. won't you at least try for me? I didn't do this on purpose. I tried really hard to make it work. Ms. Donna is an elderly lady afterall", Dia explained pitifully.
Taryn nodded slowly, and clung even harder to Dia. Dia didn't have any more words. She simply tugged Miylin and Squishler into the embrace and sighed.
