After much thought and deliberation, it had been decided that this shop will be going on hiatus until sometime this summer.

It is our hope that between now and then much back-work, planning, and uncompleted aspirations regarding Eoghan Slenin can be finished in their entirity, making this a more sound and smooth-running shop, as well as other pet-projects that the shop's staff have going.

Owners of pets that are still growing may choose one of two options regarding said pets;

A.) If you wish for your pet to continue to grow uninteruppted, please PM "MazokuPS" with your pet's name and (current) image, and they will grow as though the shop was not on hiatus.
B.) Do nothing, and when the shop re-opens, their growth cycle will pick-up where it left off (with the possibility of it being on a new cert, tweaked lineart, etc. We are not yet 100% surewhat the shop's re-opening will entail yet).

Owners of pets whose artwork is pending (ie: unique lineart pets) will be put at the top of Mazo's "to-do" list in regards to the shop, and upon completion have their pets PMed to them.



Despite this hiatus, everyone is still free to hang out in the shop to talk, RP, or just kill some time! The guild is still open as well for RP, and of course we are always more than willing to answer any questions that you may have.

3/16/09: Wow, has it been that long since I updated the news? Does anyone even read the news listings in shops?
ANYWHO, in case you've been on Mars, then I'm happy to tell you that the shop has new lineart, and we're planning a flatsale for the near future!

In other news, I've been tinkering with this idea for a while, and I've decided to re-do the "stamps" concept, and make it more interesting! Instead of there being a pre-determined set of stamps that determine your Eoghan's abilities, stamps will now be unique to each Eoghan in a verbal way rather than visual way (ie it will go on the area of the cert with the "name, dob, gender, etc" instead of a little icon).
A stamp can describe anything from an Eoghan's coloring to its personality. In the near future I'll be opening up slots for re-certings for old Eoghan whose owners wish to have this on their tags. But for now, I intend to get this system rolling asap so that everyone can get the gist of how this is going to work by example. The stamps section here on the front page will be updated to make everything clearer the first chance I get. <3

[ History ]

Long ago there was but one Eoghan; a being named Alchemist. Though he was blind, he could see with his heart and possessed the power of creation. So in order to ease his loneliness he created others like himself; other Eoghan and the Ailine. However, there were those that feared and grew jealous of the gentle Alchemist's power, and while he slept he was slain by the very ones he'd hoped could bring him happiness.

However, creation cannot be destroyed. It goes against its very nature. Alchemist was reborn, but by then much time had passed. Those who he'd known all those years ago had long since faded away and new breeds of Eoghan had branched out from the originals. He wandered alone until he came upon this place; the Earth-bound Post Office of Gaia.

Located far to the north of Durem, this place is the result of man and Eoghan joining together in a symbiotic lifestyle. Humans offer to Eoghan comfort and safety, and to us they provide strong and sturdy wings with which to travel great distances. The purpose of this place is to make deliveries for those who cannot. Whether this be letters or packages, no request is declined.

[ Present ]

Located atop a mountain covered in trees, the Post Office is not only the center of activity for the delivery system, but also a home for any Eoghan or messengers who choose to stay here (some opt to live off the Post Office property). Some Eoghan have been known to seperate themselves from or have very little contact with their messenger. There have been cases where some conciously choose to become feral.

Like humans, Eoghan have diverse personalities. There only unifying factor amongst all Eoghan is their belief in the Elementals; Eoghan such as Alchemist who reign over a unique abstract or elemental domain of power. Highly rare, they possess great powers (such as Alchemist's ability to create Ailine).

Eoghan are predators by nature though their diets have become increasingly diverse as they've lived with humans. Even in the wild they are opportunistic creatures who will gladly scavange or forrage for roots, berries and fungi to eat. This indiscriminating palette has allowed Eoghan to adapt to surviving in various climates, and has also after many years diversified their colorations as well. You name a color, and there's probably an Eoghan out there that matches it!

Though Gryphonic in nature, Eoghan are not traditional gryphons. Their physiology bears both feline and canine -like features, and their intelligence is on the same level as humans. They even communicate through speech the same way humans do (and therefore can communicate with us). Some Eoghan come together in family units known as Clans. Each clan approaches their lifestyle in a different manner or represents a certain way of thinking. Each clan has two leaders; a Chieftain and an Advisor (the first being highest in stature). Though some may come together to live in clans, Eoghan do not need to rely on others to survive. They are perfectly capable of finding their own food and shelter, as some choose to rather than live in the Post Office.

In regards to coloring the lineart;
I don't mind if you decide to color any lineart from past events for fun once in a while, but try not to go too crazy. It would also be nice if you could just ask us before posting them. ;3 Also, do not edit your pets (ie: add items to them) without our permission first. Minor edits for signatures are fine, but that's it. If you are interested in making a small business of this, please see the minishops in the guild for details.

Grammar is your friend, so treat it like one. Silly chat-speak once in a while is fine, but it doesn't help when no one can ever understand a word you say, am I right? Especially when role-playing. You don't have to be Shakespeare, but don't be a 4 year old either.

Drama, attention-whores, and angst will be shown the door.
We understand that every once in a while we need support from friends to make it through tough times, but attention mongering, excessive complaining, and moping, are not acceptible. This kind of behavior brings the entire thread down and is viewed as selfish and counter-productive. This is not a home for wayward emo kids!

If you have any questions...
Ask them here in the thread first after reading the entire front page! If you feel it necessary to discuss something privately, PM the mule; not the staff (unless you are given permission to do so). Any such PMs will be ignored.

Yes, we hold random giveaways rather frequently!
However, the keyword there is "random", meaning we ourselves do not usually have them scheduled. So, it pays to be active in the shop, even if you don't own a pet (yet)! So, please do not complain, sob, whine, or slobber your emo all over us when you miss one. It's very frustrating to us.

Respect
Follow Aretha Franklin's example. Show respect to us, your fellow Gaians, and your pets! If you own a pet that has not yet reached the adult stage, you must name it in order for it to grow (the exception being any pre-baby stages). Not naming your pet is disrespectful to those who may have enjoyed owning it very much, and to us who put time and effort into creating it. Also, should the staff here ever feel that an Eoghan is being given a name that is inappropriate, we reserve the right to deny it. For example, "Turd burglar" or "Stinky -insert profanity here-" would definitely not fly. To do something like that would be very disrespectful to us and those around you who may be offended.

Discontinued shop art;
The original shop lineart set, growth/appearance altering items, and butterfly points are no longer available/valid.

Role-playing is not required.
If you wish to purchase your pet and just step back to admire the pretty, that's fine by us. We do, of course, love seeing owners pop by the shop and hang out, even if it's not for role-playing! The only Eoghan required to RP on a scheduled basis are the leaders of Clans.

The Post Office is a place of business ICly.
Therefore, even if you don't have a pet from here you're welcome to RP as an original character looking to have a delivery made (your character needs to have a reason for being here). And as long as the shop from which it comes gives you the OK, you're welcome to RP a pet from somewhere else here too (though, again; they need to have a reason for being here rather than just appearing one day).

You are responsible for yourself.
We cannot hold your hand and baby you around the shop. It's not that we don't care; it's just that we don't have the time! So be sure to keep an eye out for any growings or drop-offs you're expecting, and read the first page and any guild information carefully. You must also take responsibility for any mishaps or misconduct that you may commit. Remember; honesty is the best policy!

[ Terms ]

[Oifig an Ploist] This is where the Eoghan system of delivery first originated. It is the main base of operations where the original Eoghan that dwell here came from. It floats high among the clouds, acting as a central base for delivery. It is currently off limits to visitation, as its exact location is difficult to pinpoint without the proper help.
[The Post Office] This is where most of the Eoghan live. It sits atop a tall mountain with miles of old steps leading to the top. The office itself is a huge brick building that is taller than it is wide. Inside can be found a small kitchen, a very large pantry, and a small living space with a couple of old couches. When you look up, however, rows upon rows of nests are situated against the walls. Once outside, you can find behind the building a pond, gardens, and a wide grassy field. Beyond there lies endless forests to the north and ravines to the far east. In the center of the forest lies a huge lake, to the west being mountains and desert. To the south-west of the Post Office is the ocean.
[Wrenshire] A small village at the foot of the mountain the Post Office sits upon. With a small population and old-country feel, it's makes for a warm little community. Cars are rarely seen here.
[Alchemist] The Elemental Eoghan of Creation, Alchemist was the first of the Elementals to be encountered. He's a bit shy and not always sure of himself, but very polite and kind. The extent of his powers is unknown, though all Ailine are his doing. Though he has a messenger, he can often be seen taking on the role of an unofficial NPC (non-player character).

[ Stamps ]


Though not really something that effect roleplay, and Eoghan's stamp is a phrase that sums up an Eoghan based on its looks, personality, or physical abilities. It is highly recommended that any new owner or anyone who is unfamiliar with how stamps work read the information below.

[ Stamp Info ]

[1] The stamp system is currently rather different from how it used to be. For more information on the old stamps, please read this.
[2] In MOST CASES (though not all), an adult Eoghan who comes as an adult (ie did not grow to that stage) may be christened a stamp by their new owner.
[3] Eoghan who comes as mailboxes are given a stamp before birth by their colorist. The owner does not need to think one up for them.
[4] If ever you are having difficulty coming up with a stamp for your Eoghan, Mazo would be more than happy to do it for you. :3
[5] While we do use the term "Eoghan" a lot, please note that Eoghan, Faeghan, Solas, Elementals, Kel'ashe, and minis all have stamps.
[6] Should the staff here ever feel that an Eoghan is being given a stamp that is inappropriate (morally or that it simply doesn't fit in the slightest), we reserve the right to deny it. For example, "Turd burglar" or "Stinky -insert profanity here-" would definitely not fly. The staff here works very hard to create every pet here, and to do something like that would be very disrespectful to us.

*Breeding Sub-Forum*


[1] Cross-breeding of species is not allowed. The only exceptions to this are the regular Eoghan, Faeghan, and Solas. They are all types of Eoghan, and thus can breed with one another. Same gender couples are also allowed for any species.
[2] The amount of offspring two pets have is based on their species, whether they are life-mates or not, and how active their owners are/how much they are RPed. For more specific estimates, please see the Detailed Species Guide in the guild.
[3] When breeding slots open, they are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. In order to claim one, an order-form that will be made available prior to the slots opening must be filled out, and then PMed to the account "EoghanSlenin" by both of the mating pair's owners (if applicable) once slots are open. This is to prevent any non-permitted breedings to take place. If it is completely impossible for both owners to be online when slots open, if is acceptable for whichever owner (or both) who cannot be on to post that they give breeding concent in the Breeding Concent Thread in the guild prior to the slots opening. If an order form is sent in, and then permission is given by the other party to breed via this method, it will not count and they will not get the slot.
[4] Only after it is confirmed that a couple has a breeding slot should the payment for it be sent. Acceptable payment methods are gold, and event/donation/cash shop items that are worth an "Average Buy Price" of 30k or more by the TekTek Price Guide. Fees depend on what type of slot was claimed for what species of pet. See the Breeding Slot Guide in the guild for more information.
[5] The traits of an offspring depend on those of their parents, and what type of breeding slot was claimed for the parents by their owners. Not all pets are eligible for any of the types of breeding slots. See the Breeding Slot Guide in the guild for more information.
[6] Offspring may be kept by the parents' owners, given away as gifts for free, or given away by means of a free give-away event (RP-based, raffle, etc). Profit may not be made in any way off the babies, and both parents' owners must agree with any distribution decisions made.
[7] There is no longer a limit to how many times a pet can breed. HOWEVER, each pet must wait at least two month between each breeding before being able to do so again. Also, I will become very sad if it seems that people are using their pets as "baby machines", so I hope I don't have to re-think this new rule! ^^
[8] If a co-owner of a pet hasn't been to the shop in three months, or does not respond to PMs regarding the matter, the other owner can breed their pet without the co-owner's consent. Also, if a pet's life-mate's owner hasn't been active on Gaia or been to the shop in three months, the pet is permitted to find a new life-mate.
In the event of either of the two situations above, please PM the mule or MazokuPS about it before deciding anything. In the end, she has the final say on such things.

[Q] What exactly is a clan?
[A] Clans are, basically, groups of Eoghan that have joined together to create a social group that helps one another to get by. Different clans tend to represent different opinions as far as morals and living standards go. They can also be formed to meet the needs of different types of Eoghan (stamps, breed, etc). It can be seen as something similar to a wolf pack or a lion's pride.
[Q] Can anyone join a clan?
[A] Depends on the clan, really. Since each one has different standards, there's no general set of criteria.
[Q] How does my Eoghan join one, then?
[A] Again, depends on the clan. Some may allow new members all the time, some may only let new members join at certain times.
[Q] Can I start my own?
[A] See below~

[Rules of Clan Membership]

[1] Adhere to the rules of the specific clan your Eoghan is a member of, or risk losing membership to it.
[2] Eoghan may only clan-hop once. Meaning, officially join a clan, officially quit, then officially join another clan.
[3] Gee, not too many rules, huh? XD;;

[Creating a Clan]

Anyone has the potential to create a new clan, but it takes some responsibility. You must first:
[1] Think of a clan unlike one that already exists. This is where you can get as creative as you want.
[2] Have at least 5 Eoghan with at least 3 indiviual owners amongst them (to prevent people from simply turning their hoards into their own clans) willing to let one or more of their Eoghan join this clan (I suggest creating an interest thread in the Pricing/Assistance/Suggestions forum should this become an issue).
[3] Fill out the proposal below and send it to the EoghanSlenin mule account.

[Rules of Clan Ownership]

[1] Though clans can have more than one leader (a maximum of 3), at least one must belong to whomever is proposing the clan.
[2] The owner(s) of a clan's leader(s) MUST take responsibility for the clan! Though I will check in every once in a while, it is the leader(s)' duty to set up any thread graphics (if desired), rules, and details of the clan in their designated sub-forum of the guild (which I will initially set up).
[3] Please, no drama. I don't feel like playing babysitter. XD If there IS a major issue between users in a clan, both parties should PM the Eoghan Slenin mule, and I'll decide what happens next. But any little things you guys can handle, right?
[4] Once every two months I will send a PM out to the owners of all inactive clan leaders to make sure they still want their Eoghan to hold its place of leadership. Should inactive leaders become an issue I will re-enstate the "leaders must be active" rule in order for clans to exist.
[5] Leaders can feel free to create RP plots or minivents within their own clan, but must organize them on their own.
[6] I reserve the right to reject any clan proposal should I see fit.

To shops that catch our eye, we present the "Wish You Were Here!" Award! With each award comes a special minipet- a Taighan. These small critters love to travel, and when they come across a place they love, they can't help but send us back a post card to tell us all about it! Of course, this also means the shopkeepers of the winning shop now have a somewhat mischeivous creature on their hands, but give and take, right? XD

* Like all mini-pets, they can breed.
* They do not go on a regular cert. They stay on the award.
* You may, but are by no means expected to; Role-play your Taighan (either here or in your own shop), or designate a gender/name for it.

It isn't often that a shop has not only loyal regulars within just days of its debut, but a cornucopia of unique and lovely pets as well!

Steamworks provides B/C goers with a well-rounded and unique world full of different races to literally create their own characters in, based on the subculture known as "steampunk". Sound good? It gets better. This shop is completely free of charge! All you pay is a little time and effort to make yourself the perfect pet!

[1] You may only claim one slot at a time, even if one is for yourself and the other for someone else.
[2] All payment must be upfront at the time of the order. Your trade will be confirmed once the custom is complete.
[3] Donation items, cash shop items, and event items may be used as part of payment only if they have an average buy price of 30k or more by the TekTek Price Guide.
[4] Cosplays of characters already in existence are not allowed (aka doubles). See the Cosplay Characters Taken thread in the guild to check before placing an order.
[5] PM all orders/send all trades to the EoghanSlenin mule account; do not post them.

[7] PLEASE don't pester us about when your custom will be done. XD;; I do my best to finish them all in a timely fashion without skipping on quality, so bear this in mind.

[9] Cosplayers come with unique certs (to go with their theme). All certs are made by Mazo, so once the pet's finished (regardless of whether Mazo or Snookie's the colorist) she'll PM you the cert.
[9] Ailine and Pygmies are currently unavailable via Gaia gold commissions (see Mazo's irl commissions page if you're interested).
[10] Having editted wings (ie unique) or no wings is now available! This would go under "lineart edits" in the order form.
[11] Mecha Eoghan are only done as unique lineart (since their edits are so heavy and Mazo likes to do them justice <3), and thus are currently only available via IRL commissions.
[12] If you have any questions about customs, ASK THEM IN THE THREAD. If you PM them it will be ignored. If you really REEALLY need to PM it, just ask if it's ok first. :3
