Notice- If you are new to Gaia and have no clue as to how the Home feature works, you need to read the tutorial to learn how to set up your free gaia home.

1. How does this thread work?

Like the "Classifieds" section in the newspaper: you read through and contact the people whose ads interest you until you find what you are looking for: a home or a roommate.

You will pm the person who posted the add, not me.^^

2. Is this for real life, or just Gaia? The "Smoking/non-smoking" thing threw me off...

This is for Gaia. The purpose is to help you find a role playing roomate for your Gaia Home, since the "looking for a roomate" threads are no longer allowed in this forum.

3. Wait... do we charge rent, or something?

I am not encouraging that, but it is a matter that needs to be settled between roommates. However, people who decide to rent their places need to make sure their "tenants" know Gaia provides a basic home for free. Otherwise they would be dishonest.

4. I still want to make a thread to find myself a roomate. What do I do?

5. I am still confused: How can people be roomates, how do they share a house?

Gaia does not have an official way to allow house sharing. Basically what people do is they "role play" it. That means they just agree on both using the same house.
So let's say I have a house in Towns and I decide that you will be my roommate. We set rules and that means you can use my house as if it were yours.
Some people go even further and share furniture. I recommend that you do not go this far, unless you know the other person really well. Because you may not get back your furniture in the end.

6. Ok, but WHY do people want roomates??

Prepare to hear the sad truth: people work really hard to get a house in Towns. And then to furnish it. After that, most homes remain empty: no one ever goes there. To remedy that, some home owners want to have other people share their house... because it is fun to see someone else enjoying their place, as opposed to having it in complete oblivion.
Having people over just makes any place come alive. :33

7. How do I get removed from the classifieds?

When you need your ad removed, you can edit your own post to say so.

Remember-

Read through and pm fellow gaians who have posted their "ads" here, to see if you can be roomies.

Once you have found a roomate or a place to share, edit your post to reflect that so that people do not pm you anymore.

If you do not own a house in Towns, this thread cannot help you find your own place. That is something each person needs to do on their own.
However, this thread can help you find someone who already owns and place and is looking for people to share it.^^
