sempron is NOT a new name for athlon XP
sempron is a different processor
Actually a Sempron is built off the old Thoroughbred/Barton core (depending on the speed) and although they are clocked lower than XP's, they still use the same cores. Except in Socket 754 of course.. where they use the Paris core.. which is basically a Newcastle core with half of its cache, and 64bit technologies disabled (but of course they'll be making a new core when they move the Sempron over to 90nm)
Edit: forgot about the new use of Thorton cores in the Semprons smile
The meaning of this topic is to show price ranges to the people that want to build a computer themselves, and what to expect to pay.
