Perhaps he had been growing in the garden a long time. I didn't realize it though, and only now did I find Cestian there, waiting, the glowing orchid hidden inside a cave.

Poor thing, I guess even through neglect and abandonment pretty things can grow and I will do a better job watching him.

The probem is, I don't know how to get to the flower, and I surely don't want to hurt it by picking it.

Trying to be as careful as possible I went into the cave today and watered the orchid. I know that someone else is in the cave, but I don't want to be rude and get in the way. My main concern is that the orchid survive and be able to grow. Something about the flower seems rather imporant. Perhaps soon I will find out what is so special. The flower, as I had named before as Cestian seems to be glowing a bit. Does that mean something or is it just my eyes decieving me?

After a few days of carrying water and checking on the flower in the cave, I found that it was missing. Much to my amazement I located a small boy not too far from where the flower used to be. The boy didn't speak to me, but something about the color and the look of the child reminded me of the flower i had been careing for. I named the boy Cestian after the flower, and he seems to like that name. ^_^

Cestian has been growing proud and strong. The young boy loves crawling around greeting bugs and playing with things that most kids would find kind of spooky at his age. Bugs and nature seem to appeal the most to him, though he is not against learning about anything that may cross his path.
I found him one day out communing with wild animals and trying to chitter along with a chipmunk. It was the cutest thing, but it lets me know as well that the young one is more than willing to trust and learn from anything and anyone. On some levels that worries me because I don't know who he is going to wander after.

Perhaps I am just not all that able to realize things, but it seemed to me that I had never once heard Cestian speak. Also, he noticed I was saying things to him only when he was looking right at me. Only now do I understand. After a few moments of him sitting next to his crying new brother, I realized that Cestian can't hear a thing being said to him. He seems to have a small ability to read lips when one is looking right at him, and from that he tries to speak, but he doesn't have the ability to really converse, and he can't hear.

Cestian sat down in the grass pulling out a book and starting to write in it very carefully.

"I don't understand some of the things I have done over the last few days, or even when I have done them. I wanted to make a new friend, but there was something about the way that one of the two people I met was acting that bothered me. He seemed to be a bit clingy. I don't think I like people too clingy. Yes I need to get close to people to read their lips, but there is something about someone constantly needing attention that bugs me. Is that a bad thing? I just want to know people without them thinking they need to be the center of attention all the time.

I tried to leave to make the two boys happy and it seems I made things worse. I got so upset I needed to get away and be alone and.. I made things worse and the one ran back into the cave we were in. I think he was being a bit... I don't know.. I don't have a word for it but I bet it is because he likes the other boy and wants me gone. He got what he wanted then. I am gone and I don't think I want to be around the two of them alone ever again. I don't want to feel like I am someone that shouldn't be around."

He closed the book with his shoulder shakeing in silent tears. So much for makeing a friend.
