-Special Thanks to Anya! for letting us use her idea-

After excavating deep into the temple ruins this small relic was unearthed. Very little is known about this particular artifact but hopefully Sycorax will be able to help us in our discoveries.

12/02/05 - Two Aduthule boys turn up in the museum. Apparently something happened to their guardian, and they wandered the streets alone for days, or even weeks! Sycorax was summoned, and took them in. Since their previous names were forgotten, she decided to call them Carlos and Gaspar.

Sycorax - Sycorax has good intentions, but she's really scatterbrained at heart. When she moved to Gaia to further her studies she was more than a little out of her depth, and only recently has she begun to feel comfortable in the company or so many powerful Gaian beings. Sycorax herself is a perfectly normal human. Perfectly normal. One hundred percent eldritch-free.

Sycorax would never have pictured herself as a mother, but she seems to have acquired 'children' in spite of herself. The first was her Mendel, Neon, who was basically a glorified science-project. She didn't do the best of jobs raising her tiny experimental teenager, but it taught her a lot of valuable lessons about taking care of other beings.

The woman is in her early twenties. She is perenially strapped for cash, because she works as a professional scholar. Sycorax can be quite bright, if a little lazy. However, almost all of the knowledge she has pretains to entirely useless theoretical subjects. She is living in Gaia right now in order to study the magical beings there, as her goal is to study the scientific theory behind magic. Sadly for Syc, she can't use any magic herself (much like a physicist who doesn't have the muscle to significantly move anything).

Right now, Sycorax is living in an old laboratory,'donated' to her, rent-free, by the infamous underworld scientist Jaes.

Neon - Sycorax's Mendel. Neon is a six-inch-tall glowing fairy, with a flamelike light-wings that allow her to fly. She is also a homoculus created from the element neon. Neon is cheerfully bellicose, and a bit of a daredevil. She's also hell on wheels with her tiny sword. Although she had a rough youth, Neon has become a mature-ish sort of woman, with an iron will and an indefateguable enthusiasm for all things "kickass". She is a tomboy and hates girly things.

Neon only visits home occasionally, now that the Mendels project has been cancelled and she's all grown up. She spends most of her time living with her boyfriend, the Mendel Iron.

Grus - A young boy who fell out of the sky. He is the personification of the constillation of the crane. Sycorax took him in, for lack of anything else to do with him. There's not a very good social services protocol for dealing with kids who fall out of the sky.

Grus is an extremely antisocial introvert. He likes nothing better than to hole up in his room with his books, for days on end. If he didn't have to eat, and Sycorax didn't make sure he got fresh air, he'd probably never come out. Grus' paranoia and shoddy social skills cost him friends, but he he has a lot of common sense for his age. This kid is four, going-on fourty. He'll probably end up a freaky nerd academic, just like his 'Mama'.

A photo I found in the Museum, of the awakening Greed and Liberality twins. What a pretty artifact! They look so peaceful, curled up together.

Carlos and Gaspar when they were not Carlos and Gaspar. Aren't they cute? The Museum had this picture of them, when they were young, but no record of their previous names. I wonder if memories of their old guardian, Ronai, will ever come back to them? They look awfully young in this picture; not more than four or five years old. Yet they also look very much like themselves - Carlos in the front, babbling and friendly, while Gaspar hovers in the background and calculates. Or maybe protects.

I took this picture myself, the day after the boys were put into my care. Carlos looks a little more subdued here, although Gaspar is as serpentine as ever. They boys also look a little older here, and Gaspar has lost some of the markings that he used to have. I know that they haven't reached their child stage, since their language skills aren't up to par, so perhaps it's merely their experiences that changed their looks. They may have been wandering about for some time, before they finally found their way to the Museum. ... damn, those poor kids.
