Elocyn's Journal
January 17th, 2005
Holy. Cow. Just when I think it's safe to walk around naked in my own apartment, Khipri shows up. Good job, Elo', flashing your Kuat child the first day she arrives.
I had just gotten out of the shower late last night, and was wandering around in my towel (a strange habit of mine, albeit, a troublesome one) when I saw a girl standing in my closet. I had noticed that my Passion wisp wasn't around, but it hadn't registered with me yet, and when I saw the stranger, I kindof wigged out.
"Who the hell are you?" I yelled across at her.
She turned around, black and maroon hair swinging over her bare shoudlers to reveal perfect olive skin. I was jealous immediately -- why couldn't I be tall and slender with perfect olive skin. Ah, my vices. Her voice was low and smooth, with carefully placed intonation. "Shouldn't you know who I am already?"
"Actually, no, I don't. So please, do fill me in on who you are, and how you got into my apartment." I sat down on my bed. "Starting now."
"I've been here for over a week," she sighed at me, turning around fully, revealing that she was holding in front of her the red sweater I had given to the Passion-wisp. I guess things probably should have started to make sense here, but they didn't really. "I'm Khipri." Her slight accent made her voice sound sultry and enticing, especially when she said her name. This one was going to be a seductress, I could tell.
"That doesn't explain much, except the fact that I appear to be completely and utterly blind. More, please?"
"I've been here for at least a week, I can tell you that much," Khipri begun to sound irritated, and rolled her eyes at me, which was still a strangely graceful move. "I came from the shop, I am... Passion."
It took a while for this to register properly with me. So we stood at an impasse for a little while, as the clogs in my mind loudly clicked together and apart, making me seem duller than I already was. "Okay." My mouth moved slowly. "In that case, you're going to be staying here?"
"Of course," the girl yawned at me, showing perfect white teeth.
"In that case... we need to get you some new clothes. Or else, my landlord is going to think I'm some kind of *****, or slave keeper, with half-naked girls wandering around my apartment."
"Is this unacceptable? Strange. You are half naked, are you not?"
"Yes. But that's different, I've just not gotten dressed yet. I have more clothes to put on. So, if you please, remove yourself while I do it?"
She grinned at me. "A little self conscious, aren't we?"
"Yes, yes we are. Now, scat. Go... eat something, or... something. You know where everything is, I'm sure."
"Of course." She smiled, and exited.
Her exeunt told me much about her. This girl was going to be trouble. "And I'm not your mother!" I yelled after her, as I dragged clothes on. I didn't want her calling me mother, like Ayoka did Suki, or ... I didn't want to be anyone's mother.
"What are you, then? If not my mother?" She called back, from the kitchen, as far as I could tell.
"Just... your friend."
