Zamyr's Likes and Dislikes

Well, how could I resist? I wanted to keep every moment of Zamyr's early days visible to the general public...and since one of the things that seems to be constantly changing is his likes and dislikes, I thought I'd keep a log so that one can see how his moods fluctuate.


Day One of Log - Jan. 2nd, '05
Likes: Laughing, bubbles, blankets, my pencils, and...er...chewing on me.
Dislikes: Nothing, really, apart from my boots. (And inconstitiency.)

The only major difference is that Zamyr now seems to enjoy cookies a lot, too.

Fortunately for Zamyr, the only one in his family is...dun dun dun...Riel.

First Language: English. Of course, she speaks many others--though she isn't fluent in EVERY one of them.
Favorite Colors: Blue, black, red, gray, BLACK! (Congratulations L, you've nearly converted Riel into a Goth. Aren't you happy?)
Favorite Pastime: Reading, writing, traveling...
Favorite Possession: That'd be a tough call between her books and her laptop (which isn't completely hers, but...)

Riel is a little blanked-out at times, and she enjoys writing, roleplaying, and drooling over art. (Not to mention reading, traveling, math, science...Riel's rather academically-motivated, but she HATES P.E. and History, interestingly enough.) According to Sinying, the best way to describe her might be...'unmotivated daydreamer.'
Zamyr's thoughts on Riel: "Riel is...odd. The house is too small. Her boots are scary...Luckily I have convinced her not to wear shoes anymore.

Usha's probably the most positive of the bunch. She's an optimist who enjoys helping others; very extroverted. However, she isn't all that great in academics--she admits it herself. Usha enjoys pretty fabrics and lacrosse.
Usha's current goal is to teach Riel how to dance; unfortunately, Riel's current goal is to NOT learn how to dance.

Steve is determined and easygoing. He's a very loyal friend to have, but to have him as a friend means that you have to pay the price--he can be very annoying and argumentative. Steve isn't easily motivated in school but due to his stubborn personality he tends to finish all that he starts.
Steve loves muffins and Riel's special chocolate chip fortune cookies.

Yes, Riel, too, has items (although she's given most of them to Zamyr). This is her Hands-Off cabinet of plushies. (Riel also has an extensive collection of items prominently featuring her name, but although many are Very Pretty they would be Out of Place here, and so therefore she has not put them up.) Steal and feel her wrath.

First of all, Nougat made Riel this teddy when Riel was feeling sad and down in the dumps! Thank you so much; you made my day.

Sidhe?

Sidhe--a short explanation

The mortal enemies of Man, the Sidhe were stripped of their souls in the War of Westering, then gained their revenge by changing all the humans into animals. After the star-marches that bred dissent among them, and the Grand Combat that brought Elme to power, the Sidhe created the Realm, and left all of Earth behind.

Most of the female Sidhe live in Inyas Trai, City of the Sidhe, which lies beyond the Blasted Plain. Almost all of the male Sidhe belong to one order or another, and rarely stay in the same vicinity as the female Sidhe, as it builds a kind of magical dependance which can only be escaped by killing or changing the female. For this reason, Sidhe males are incapable of love, as it would make the dependance unbreakable.

Tall and lean, they once shared roots with humans. They sometimes amuse themselves by portraying the human Gods, leading the humans to glory or demise. The Sidhe have their own Mages and Councils and Orders, all with great power, and all with some level of corruption. Some of the strongest Sidhe are the Wickmasters, who can channel their magic through staffs, changing the shape of the wood into a weapon or a shield of power. They are capable of most magics, including temporal magic, opening gateways between one place and another, peeling back a slice of air to create a doorway. The Sidhe are also capable of 'throwing shadows', creating temporary doubles of oneself, so that the original can escape.

The Sidhe abhor the eating of meat, as all animals are descendants of man, so in their minds, it is like eating the flesh of man. They view those who eat meat as heathens, and worshippers of The Serpent.

Adonna is the 'God' of the Sidhe and creator of the Realm.

The Ban of Hours is effectively a leader of most of the Sidhe, the others follow the Will of Adonna.

Other Information about Sidhe (pulled from Merangue's monologues)

Sidhe males just don't feel love. It is an unfamiliar emotion, one that is very rarely, if ever at all, experienced or displayed. One of the reasons for this is, of course, to protect against that magical dependancy which builds up between the male and female Sidhe. This is also the reason why Inyas Trai is almost completely populated by females, with the males only coming into the city when it is absolutely neccessary.
The actual emotion of 'love', in the case of Sidhe males (the females, however, can feel love..) is generally replaced by a kind of addiction. The magical dependancy is just that, and addiction to power. The male and female resonate together, amplifying the latent power of the male, and as he draws power from the female to make his own magic stronger, he comes to realize how weak he is, and that if he were to give in and join with the female, he would become infinitely stronger. There is of course a period of time building up to this point, this fusion of the male and female that makes them inseperable, where the male may choose to forgo the power, and break the bonds, and may still leave and go on his own way, thus avoiding the trap. It takes a very strong mind and will to do this however, so it is in the long run much safer to never risk the trap at all.

Most breeds are born of Sidhe females and Antros males, usually from short relationships, or one-night-stands.

As with any race, there are those males in the Sidhe culture who preffer men over women. It is not unnatural for them, seeing as how with a woman, there is always that risk that you will lose yourself, whereas with a man, there is no such danger...but most Sidhe males are solitary. In reality, Sidhe discipline teaches that you are -always- alone.
...The final point of the Singular discipline, the thing that makes or breaks a candidate for the priesthood, is taking the life of your closest companion, generally an Epon that was chosen by the Mafoc Mar at birth, and given to the Sidhe as a child.

Most Sidhe are rather singleminded in their pursuits of power or rank or what they beleive to be the 'right' thing to do. They are of course able to doubt themselves, their beliefs, and the purpose of their lives up to date...The lack of other selves is simply the lack of soul-noise. All the 'other selves' of a Sidhe are part of the whole, there are no conflicting voices.
