January 1st, 2005
I've successfully revived A Peachi Tree, so now I'll attempt the same on this place. I love these; can't let 'em die. (With help and support from DFA, Buff and Myly, of course.)
Also, if you're waiting for a Tasho to be finished, this is just a general notice that they all have been completed. ^^. Once we get the owners sorted out we'll be tagging and re-tagging every Tasho, and then handing out those who have become ownerless.
Owners should have been PMed this:
This is a little notice that Hijos de la Luna is back! ^^. We're asking that all owners please PM us back with the following information, so we can make you all as happy as possible, and also so you can let us know you're still alive out there!
Keep in mind: Some major changes have come into effect, such as the fact that all Tasho besides Shial and Alphas are now RP-optional.
+ Which Tasho do you own?
+ (Be honest.) How often have you roleplayed them?
+ (Be honest.) Since you no longer have to RP, do you think you will?
+ Do you want to keep them?
+ Are you happy to see the shop active again?
+ (If you have an Alpha.) Are you willing to keep them even though it means you must roleplay?
+ Would you mind terribly if your pack's name was changed? ([ocd] All four packs are named very similar things, so we might want to fix that. ^^;;; [/ocd])
+ Do you have any other comments/suggestions/feedback? Honesty is appreciated.

None!

* About Tasho *

Hijos De La Luna
Tasho are regular wolves, basically, only made half-fantasy by their forehead jewels, antennae and little fairy wings, not to mention their foreign markings. However, Tasho do not have magical powers; they merely look as if they do. Even their wings are half-useless, since they're too small to allow them to fly long distances; rather, they allow them to glide, hover slightly, and jump higher than normal. Shial, however, are a special species of Tasho that do contain magic.
Shial have special abilities, such as seeing into the near future or controlling an element, though they vary greatly in magical strength. Some Shial are merely Tasho with very little, almost accidental magic. These Shial are often outcasted by other Tasho, who generally find them to be crazy or weird. Other Shial have a much greater amount of magic, though they normally refuse to mingle with Tasho and instead take refuge in the Shial mountains; they consider themselves to be above them, you see. The final type of Shial, told about only in myths, are said to have power enough to make them actual gods. Shial are rather rare.
Getting A Tasho
Considering the staff are against 'RP-or-lose-it' pets, normal Tasho no longer require roleplay. However, we'd really really really like it if you would roleplay with us anyway. Thus, to encourage roleplay, we'll be giving almost all Tasho away via. writing or roleplay-related events and contests or to people who have a history of being active owners of other Breedables. Auctions will be rare, and regular flat sales and raffles will not exist.
Also, there are a few exceptions to this rule. Shial won via events/contests will require roleplay, as will all alphas. Thus, if you don't want to worry about this place becoming "not fun" because you may lose your Tasho, consider getting a Beta, Gamma Delta, Sikla or Loner. Please also keep in mind that while the Sikla rank, IC, is a shame... OOC it could make the character even more fun than a boring ol' Alpha. Thus, please think very carefully about which Tasho you want, especially if you want to tie yourself to an Alpha.
Packs & Ranks
Tasho form packs, and each pack consists of a diferent number of Tasho, each one ranked differently. There can be very very small pack, or rather large ones; it depends. The ranks are as follows:

Alphas - Dragga & Drappa (2) - The Alpha Tasho, together as a pair, lead the pack.

Beta (1) - The Beta is the second-in-charge of the pack, and in the event that the Alphas must leave for a short while, they're in charge. Beta do not come in mated pairs like Alphas do.

Gamma Delta (3+) - Gamma Deltas are the regular pack members, as well as the grown offspring of the Alpha pair.

Sikla (1) - The Sikla, or Omega, is the outcast of the pack. They eat last, are picked on, and are often used as the scapegoat by other members. Some Sikla stick with the pack, some leave and become Kerl, and others go off to form their own packs.

Kerl - This isn't really a rank... rather, a Kerl is a Tasho with no rank, as they belong to no pack; a loner.
Mating & Breeding
Only the Alpha pairs are normally permitted to breed; however, non-Alpha Tasho are permitted to pair up as mates. Rather than producing their own pups, pack members act as Aunts, Uncles and babysitters to the pups produced by the Alpha pair. All Tasho mate for life, and pairs can be either heterosexual or homosexual.
(( Disclaimer | The terms Dragga, Drappa, Sikla and Kerl are taken from David Clement-Davies's The Sight. There are other terms from the book that we'll probably use as well, such as Varg and Lera. These terms are in "wolf language", which is why we like to use them. If you've yet to read the book-- do so! It's a great read! But yah, kudos and credit for him for those terms. ))

* F A Q *

Q: Do I have to roleplay to own a Tasho?
A: Not anymore.
Q: Must I direct link my Tasho?
A: We ask that you do. However, it doesn't have to be in your sig or anything, but Tasho do change with the roleplay (injuries, for example), and we'd really like you be able to see these changes.
Q: How many Tasho may each person own?
A: Two, but they must be from seperate packs and have different ranks.
Q: How many Shial may each person own?
A: Just one, although this doesn't count as one of your two Tasho.
Q. I want a Shial. How do I get one?
Same way you get a Tasho. Wait for a contest, event or auction.
Q: Can two people own one Tasho?
A: Since roleplay is no longer required, yes.
Q: Does each rank have unique lineart?
A: Yes, each rank has its own male/female lineart with unique poses.
Q: Do Shial have unique lineart/poses?
A: They may or may not.

* Rules of the RP *

Serious Roleplay
The serious roleplays take place in the Tasho guild, which contains images and information on the setting, which is a semi-fantasy habitat of forest, lakes, meadows, caves, marshes and valleys. It's inhabited by all of your typical forest creatures, except for higher up carnivours (ie: foxes), as Tasho are the undesputed rulers of the land. Within the guild, roleplaying is continious (everything affects everything else). Also, Tasho are wild animals with no owners when in this setting.
Casual/OOC Roleplay
Casual roleplay takes place in this thread. This type of roleplay is basically the Tasho, their owners, thread visitors (who wish to get involved) and other species of Gaia pets all roleplaying as if the thread itself was a big... room. The setting is nonspecific (it can be whatever you want), and there is no set plot... it's mostly just stupid, comical nonsense of our Tasho bitching because of what we're doing to them IC, or of us hanging out with the wannabe-owners and thread visitors.
The Rules of The Roleplay
1.) You may only roleplay Tasho that you personally own.
2.) Please keep it PG-13. Cursing is alright (so long as it's not... ridiculous...), but offensive racial terms and explicit sexual content are not.
3.) Please use your best grammar, punctuation and writing skills. We won't jump all over you if you mess up something little, but we will if we catch you roleplaying with 1337 or shorthand (liek dis u kno lol ppplz r kewlz dgjsdklgsg).
4.) No Quote Monsters!! If you are quoting more than two posts, that is BAD. >O Please edit out extra quotes (but also please use the 'Preview' button to avoid messing up the quote code, and thus your post).
5.) Have fun!
(Serious RP Only)
1.) Anyone is welcome to take up the part of a wild forest creature; they may even be named and used over and over. However, please keep in mind that certain species may be hunted by the Tasho, so try not to get too attached to a character that might be ideal prey.
2.) Tasho can speak to any species of wild animal, but not to humans. (Keep this in mind if we do a plot involving a human, such as a hunter or scientist.)
3.) Large plots need to be run by the creators and by the owners of the involved Tasho beforehand. Such plots include deaths (and the possible outcasting of the responsible Tasho), rank upgrades (a Loner joining a pack, perhaps), and anything else that would affect the entire RP (such as a large storm or an epidemic).
4.) We expect you to be literate :X ... 'nough said.
(Casual RP Only)
1.) Although other species of pets are welcome, we ask that you try and keep it restricted to canine-type pets. While the Tasho would probably love to speak with a Merukin, a D'shi might be a whole 'nother story... ^^;;;. (EDIT: All species are allowed. XD A Tasho may want to eat your D'shi, but that doesn't mean the owner would let them.)
2.) Although Tasho can speak human languages, they prefer to keep conversations amongst themselves in their native language (which is... really just wolfy sounds). Please distinguish between the two by using []s or {}s or something similar for Tasho-language.
3.) If you notice that those currently in the thread are roleplaying, please use (())s or [[]]s or something to show you're 100% OOC and don't want to be bothered by the roleplaying. Likewise if you're roleplaying and want to make an OOC comment.

* The Meaning of "Hijo de la Luna" *

(( Listen to the song that inspired Tasho here. ))

Foolish is he who does not understand.
A legend tells of a gipsy woman who pleaded with the moon until dawn.
Weeping, she begged at the break of dawn to marry a gipsy man.
"You'll have your man, tawny skin," said the full moon from the sky.
"But in return I want the first child that you have with him.
Because she who sacrifices her child so that she is not alone,
Isn't likely to love it very much."
Moon, you want to be mother, but you cannot find a love who makes you a woman.
Tell me, silver moon, what you intend to do with a child of flesh?
Aaaah, aaaah. Son of the moon.
From a cinnamon-skinned father a son was born,
White as the back of an ermine, with grey eyes instead of olive-- moon's albino child.
"Damn his appearance! This is not a gipsy man's son, and I will not put up with that."
Moon, you want to be mother, but you cannot find a love who makes you a woman.
Tell me, silver moon, what you intend to do with a child of flesh?
Aaaah, aaaah. Son of the moon.
Believing to be dishonoured, the gipsy went to his wife, a knife in his hand.
"Whose son is this? You've certainly fooled me!" And he wounded her mortally.
Then he went to the woodlands with the child in his arms, and he left it behind there.
Moon, you want to be mother, but you cannot find a love who makes you a woman.
Tell me, silver moon, what you intend to do with a child of flesh?
Aaaah, aaaah. Son of the moon.
And the nights the moon is full it is because the child is in a good mood.
And if the child cries, the moon wanes to make it a cradle.
And if the child cries, the moon wanes to make it a cradle.

As the winds blew across the land, a lone and solitary figure sat on the top of a green hill, his siluete dark black in contrass to the large moon behind him. Not many understood those creatures that took refuge in the night's darkness to roam... but then again, the Tasho roamed day and night, the thing was that at night it was easier to remember whom they were.
Such thought enveloped the Dragga as he continued to sit, his golden eyes fixed upon some place up in the sky, almost as if seeking something that only he alone could see.
"Father... I can't sleep..."
The soft childish growl made the male Tasho turn his head to look over his shoulder, his eyes gleeming in the darkness as he watched a young pup pad over to him, her ears droping to the side, tail low but wagging. He shook his head somewhat as he raised a brow, letting the pup take a seat beside him, "And you come here just to tell me that?"
Giving a low whimper of defeat, the pup looked up at her father, "I was wondering, and I just can't seem to find sleep..." she lowered her gaze briefly, tail curled around her four feet, "I just don't know..."
Her father interrupted her briefly, giving a low growl, "Of course you don't, young one, there are infinite number of things we can not understand," he paused, setting his golden gaze upon the astre in the sky once more, "And that is why Tasho and Shial alike tell stories... the try and explain all those things we can not understand."
Despite her father's answer, the pups simply didn't look convinced, and thus flatened her ears back slightly, the frustration visible upon her features, "Father, where do we come from?"
"We don't come," came the brief reply, "We simply are."
Still the pup didn't look convinced and she raised her saphire gaze up at the Dragga, "No... I mean, when... how was the first Tasho... made? How did they come upon the land? We weren't just dropped here, were we?"
A slight smirk tugged at the older tasho's maw, then he shook his head, "Of course not... we were not just 'dropped here' little one, but why and how we came to be upon the land is something no one knows for sure," his golden eyes were still fixed upon the moon as a slight breeze blew past, their furr swaying to the motion, "One of the most common legends, the one I was told long ago takes place long back, when man was more in tune with nature," he explained, still not looking at her daughter, "You see, there was once a human female, that so wanted a mate... she summoned up the moon all night, sitting in a medow just like this one we sit at."
The pup's ears perked up instantly at the sound of a story coming. She had always loved stories and by the way her father talked and moved, she knew it must hold some sort of ancient power.
"Now then, when day was about to break, the moon goddess in all her slendour appeared before the human female... the goddess' skin as fair as white snow, her eyes silver, holding the power of the moon's light at night," the dragga's eyes seemed to mist as he remembered the same words long back told to him, and he could not help but let his own heart be carried by the emotion of the tale, "Even though the human was impressed, and brought to tears merely by the aparition, she begged and begged on one knee for a mate... to which the moon goddess agreed, telling her that she would have hermate," here the Tasho's brow furrowed slightly, "However, you must remember no god will ever do a favour such as this without taking something back... and the moon goddess told the human that after she were mated, the first child born from that union would belong to her alone."
Tilting her head, the young pup looked up at the bright moon, wondering why the goddess would ever ask for something like that, after all... what good would a human child do?
Almost as if reading her thoughts, her father looked down at her, shaking his head, "You see, the moon was lonely, and allthough the sun was her mate, they saw each other rarely, on day brake and night fall... and the moon goddess longed for a child she could truly take care of," watching her daughter nod, the dragga continued on with his tale, "And indeed the human female found a mate, soon enough giving birth to the couple's first newborn, a sheer miracle, or disaster, depending from which point of view you look at it from," he once more paused for effect his eyes narrowing down to slit pupil as the breeze around them picked up force, "For that night, the human gave birth to a child with skin as fair as pure as untouched snow, silver eyes and white hair..."
The pup looked up at the Dragga, saphire eyes growing wide, his father had no need to actualy explain that bit to her, and she couldn't keep from perking her ears forward, her tail swishing over the humid grass of the medow.
"The human's mate was not happy at all when he saw the child, for their own skin was far darker and their eyes olive, not silver. He inmediately saw the female a traitor... and in a rush of fury only humans seem to hold, he killed his mate," the Tasho closed his eyes, far deep within his own story and thus moved by his own words. He paused for a few seconds, then reopened his golden orbs, looking down at the grass by his front paws, "After such action, he looked at the child, and then, deciding it was the best to do, he took him off to the forest, abandoning him deep down in the darkess section, most likely leaving him to starve..."
"But the child didn't die, did he?" perking her ears further, to a point of practically leaning againts her father, the pup talked, tail swishing as she awaited the conclusion of the story.
His daughter's words, made the Dragga smirk again, fangs glittering under the moonlight, "Of course he didn't, for you see, the moment the child cried out for attention, who other than the moon goddsess herself would appear?" he puffed up slightly with prid as he continued, "She looked down at the child and shook her head, noting that with the way he looked at the moment, he could not survive day or night... so she waved her hand, giving him a gift like none other."
Ihe female pup leaned in further, "What gift?"
"Freedom... she gave the child the gift of real freedom, that what man had and has been seeking for so long," his smirk turned into a soft smile, his eyes holding the glint of an untold secret, "In mere seconds, the child grew furr, a tail, fangs for hunting... paws strong for chasing, eyes able to reflect the moon's light..." another brief pause, the dragga flapping the wings upon his back slightly, "He became the first Tasho, he was the moon's child, and held dear by the goddess, he grew strong, and bold, hunter of the night but nobel enouh to look down upon the Lera without feeling supreme," nudging the pup with his muzzle, the male Tasho seemed to silently tell her it was time she go back and try summon up sleep once more, "I hope that helps."
In response, she nodded, running off, head held high up proud, for she too was a child of the moon, and no matter where the goddess would look after her. Thus the Dragga was left alone with his own thoughts, golden orbs regarding the aster in the sky, still a secretive aura burning around him, "Man, Tasho and Shial alike..." came his soft growl before he turned around and padded off back towards the pack.
