CONTEST TIME!
I am now completely done with my college finals. I never have to take another final EVER AGAIN! To celebrate this awesome occasion, I'ma give a custom-drawn (and colored) avi art to the first person who posts on Page 60 (excluding myself, of course). So, get postin' people!

Due to some creative selling from me, I have enough funds to start giving out larger prizes (up to 1,000 gold!). Whee!
Also, I reached a milestone (small as it was), as I've handed out over 5,000 gold and 60 butterflies. Let's make 10,000 and 100, shall we?

II. HOW IT WORKS
I (Mr. G) wander around GAIA during the week and take note of paticularly "good" GAIANS, such as those who run charities, give out free gifts, or who encourage moral fiber. Generally, winners have the following qualities:
1) A potential winner must be running and/or encouraging a non-profit activity. If you're making money, you no longer qualify.
2) Potential winners must have been on GAIA for more than three months.
3) Only people who are going to remain on GAIA in the foreseeable future may win. If the inspriation for their activity is because they plan on leaving, they are not eligable.
Of course, this never stops me from occasionally handing out some spending gold to people who are just plain nice. 3nodding
Winners are given a sum of money (currently ranging from 500-1000 gold) and a small flock of butterflies. This prize package may increase in the future, depending on available funds. As of right now, the entirety of the prize is an out-of-pocket expense for me. I get the majority of my funds via selling my Daily Chance prizes over a week.
Now, you may be asking, "Gee Whiz, Mr. G! How can I help?" There's a variety of ways. First, you can always donate gold or butterflies to the charity. Believe or not, I could use butterflies more than gold, sometimes.
I understand that you might be thinking to yourself, "MYSELF, why would I give this guy GOLD to hand out to people HE thinks are awesome?" The answer is quite simple...I really have no need for gold anymore. Now that my avi is just they way I like it, I really don't care what I get in the daily give-aways or whatnot. Heck, I rarely spend gold on anything for myself anymore. All donations are written down and recorded so I know NOT to spend that gold.
You can also really help by stopping by the thread and chatting with us! Nothing would make me happier than to see more people chatting and making friends. Not only that, but you can feel free to nominate outstanding GAIANS right here in the thread. Just make sure to shout it out, so I or another member of the crew notice. In a nutshell, your nomination should look like this...

Burning Peasant Head was chosen due to her willingness to help other people achieve their goals. In order to maintain an impressive charity, she gives out amazing amounts of donations for doing simple things like BUMPING alot. In addition, she demonstrated a friendly attitude towards others and seems predisposed to cheerfulness.

V. FAQ
Q1: Can I suggest/recommend people for awards?
A: Yes. Yes you can. All I ask that you include not just a name, but WHY they are deserving of a Generous Reward. Ideally, you'll include a link to a page proving that they are making GAIA better for everyone. Just keep in mind that I only have so much funds per day, so I can't take every suggestion.
Q2: When/How often do you give out gold?
A: I try to average once or twice a week right now, mainly because I use the items that I get from the Daily Chance to fund the prizes. There is no actual day that I hand out gold. Unfortunately, I do have a life outside GAIA, so I occasionally (read: usually) go a week or two between prizes. When that happens, I usually try to hand out several big prizes to make up for it.
Q3: Why do you give out gold? Shouldn't you be hoarding it?
A: Well, I really have no big ambitions at the moment on GAIA. My avi is just how I like it, and I really don't use my house too often. So why should I hold on to a big pile of gold?
Q4: OMG! Kan I pleze h4v3 s0m gld/yor puppy?
A: This...this is just an abortion of the English language. Seriously though, I do give out donations OCCASIONALLY, but please don't PM with begging. I have enough mail to deal with on a daily basis. I don't need SPAM.
Q5: What's with the puppy?
A: Oh! Mochi? He's cute. What's there to get?
Q6: Can I donate?
A: YES! A thousand times yes!

In all seriousness, I greatly appreciate any donations. If people DO donate, then I can start giving out more/bigger prizes, which mean more happy GAIANS.

A: Actually, yes. Yes it would have. However, this thread did not start out as a Charity thread. Originally, I was using this thread to gather funds to buy a guild, from which I would launch a charity. I gave up on the idea after a while, and reconfigured the thread into what it is today.
Someday, I may begin a new thread in order to make everything look nicer. For now, this works. 3nodding
