Outside the Konokai Headquarters, a large sign is hung across the top of the door, flashing with various lights and proclaiming, "The Crystal Christmas Party!" Inside, the layout of the room itself has changed; it's absolutely huge, the size of a small auditorium or a large classroom, with several sets of stairs going off to either side. And then there's the decorations . . .

Garlands of gold and silver are wound around the banisters of various staircases, with wreaths and gigantic bows in bright, glittery colors are pinned to the walls. Candles are bracketed up high, out of the reach of babies or toddlers, and twinkle slightly with magic to anchor them in place. A light dusting of snow appears to be falling from the ceiling - although they never quite touch the ground - in pastel-colored, glowing flakes. Butterflies made of jewels and glimmering stars fly through it, the little insects swooping low every now and then to investigate.

A pair of enormous trees take up one whole end, covered in different ornaments, strings of popcorn and twinkling lights. Even better, beneath them, the carpet is completely piled with wrapped presents, about half of them bearing tags. Tables are set up along the walls, tablecloths tossed over them and large bowls of candy and punch set slightly crookedly on top. There are even couches, squashy armchairs and beanbags, placed mostly in a circle around the large open area in front of the trees.

Dressed up in a green and gold pant suit outfit, Dray stands at the door, waiting to welcome guests. "Come on in! We're having a party!!"

"So, a little person is supposed to be called from this?" A green woman asked, peering at the butterfly pendant, frowning. "Quite odd."

"Not at all, my dear." An older man interjected, smiling. "It's quite a lot more common that you would beleive."

Jeane rolled her eyes at the pair. "Be good. It's Christmas!"

"Not for another week." Muttered the green.

(*laughs* We posted at the same time! *is halfway through the new batch of babies* Heh heh, they all grow up at the same time.)

Dray blinked, looking at the pair for a moment, then beamed and hugged Jeane fiercely. "Jeane! Mom thought you'd be one of the first, do you like the decorations?" She spun around and bellowed toward one of the stairways. "MOM!!!!! JEANE'S HERE!!! AND SHE BROUGHT SOME MAGE FRIENDS!!!"

Dray grinned, pointing to the tops of the trees. "Me and Aunt Ri did those, 'cause Mom doesn't fly." She said proudly.

"Aunt Ri and I, Dray." Rune corrected for what was probably the millionth time, coming down the stairs with a laugh. "Not that it matters tonight - you did a wonderful job." She ruffled her daughter's hair affectionately, then hugged Jeane too before turning to Gareth and Kyrthia. "Sir Gareth - related to Joshua, by chance?"

(Cool - I have a bunch of pictures of Rune's cousin, but none of Rune. *points to the Mine button* That's about as close as it gets, actually. *prods* I wanna see piccies!)

Rune laughed. "She did, huh? Well, it's probably fair to warn you, there'll be a lot of babies and kids running around here tonight. The item batch seems about ready to transform," she nods toward the butterfly clip, "and most of the people coming have kids from other places as well."

"Like Aunt Jeane's Arupans." Piped up Dray. Appearing behind her, a small deer-like Arupan peeked up at Jeane hopefully, half-concealed by her sister's draconic wings. "I think she even has a little deer, just like you, Nia!"

(Devart!!! *runs to explore*)

Rune winced, obviously imagining the stomping. "Ouch - sounds like combat practice to me."

"Really?" Dray's eyes lit up, and she grinned. "Think they'd like to come see the battle arena? That would be fun, and we could - "

"Let's go with no." Rune said firmly. Glancing up at Gareth, she smiled, a bit sheepishly. "I'm rather the same way - my family seems to have a knack for adopting kids, regardless of species." She flicked a look at Dray and Nia, the former now tugging Jeane and Kyrthia down to examine the trees while the latter clutched at her mother's shirt. "Or temperment, come to that."
