the Japanese pronounce it something along the lines of "laruku en shiiru." hence the shortening to "laruku."

Malice. Just like in English, but:
Mizer, based on the French misere meaning misery (Les Miserables), is pronounced thusly:
mee-zair (zair= the wourd air with a z in front.)

mal-ihs mee-zair

In japanese, it is said:
mah-ree-soo mee-zeh-roo

also, a note on the pronunciation of L'Arc~en~Ciel:

Yes, it means Rainbow. But make sure to pronounce the r more glutturally (IPA[R]), slightly obscuring the c, and the "en" is said more like the English word "on." also, to make it easier, instead of see-ehl, you can pronounce it with a y in the middle, more like seeyel. but never like the English word seal. So:

Larkh-on-see-yell (kh like ankh)

I can answer just about any strange pronunciation, even nuvc:gu.

Nuvc:gu

Originally, the band wanted to be called "Nuveau Gout", and the title, including the backwards c which is a corruption of the letter o, is still pronounced as the French word it is based off of:
noo-voh-goo

(actually, in IPA, the backwards c <itself adopted from the mormon deseret alphabet> represents a vowel sound in English, such as the a in "all" and "thaw." Nuvc:gu has nothing to do with this.)

Oh, then L'arc is gayer than I thought.

Then again, it's easy to confuse a rainbow for a shooting star when it's

"The arc in the sky" and a firecracker is "arc".

My mistake.
