A rough blizzard had swept the forest in white, and Chayse stumbled up the path. He had meant to shovel it, of course, but he had never had the chance by the time the fierce weather set in.
As he neared his home he spied a girl by the edge of the forest.
"Hello?" He waved a mittened hand at her. "Are you lost?"
"No." SHe shook her head and smiled, trudging through the snow to him. "I have a present for you."
"A present?" Chayse tilted his head, looking at her semi-suspiciously.
"Yes, see mine?" She held up a purple egg, "They're going to hatch soon, here's yours." And she handed him a similar one, but in light blue.
Chayse grabbed for it as it started to hover away. "Weather sprites?"
"Mmhm." The girl nodded. "Yours is a Blizzard type. Don't worry about his hovering, he hasn't fallen yet." She turned around and headed back towards the woods. "I'll visit you...he'll hatch soon. Keep him cold and take good care of him."
Chayse just nodded dumbvly and watched her go, the little egg hovering in his palm.
Once she had disappeared from view he looked at it more closely, unsure if he should believe her or not. The little egg wavered, then hovered off of his palm and he made a frantic grab, afraid it would drop.
He was the one who ended up facefirst in the snow. The egg just hovered around the drifts.
"You're amused, aren't you?"
