News:
11.28.04--Fenshae's FINALLY gotten off her lazy bum and made him a journal. About time, isn't it?
1.7.05--Fenshae brings home Sofie!
Jacko's Friends:
Tora--
Does she even count? In so much as she'll talk to him when no one else has given him a chance, Jacko supposes she does...he's still not sure how he feels about her, though.
Cerin--They've been spending quite a lot of time together, and Jacko is growing slowly more and more fond of the little gothling floppi. Indeed, he looks forward to the time they can spend just hanging out and mocking the rest of the floppis, and their friendship is one of the few things that makes Jacko consistently happy.
Sofie's Friends:
None yet--but she's trying!
Family:
Fenshae:
The thylacine-anthro who brought him home; she's eccentric--no, not even, she's flat-out weird--and kind of scatter-brained, but nice enough...
Zorneh:
A leguani with the attitude of a diva and a definite lazy-streak...but nonetheless, she and Jacko get along surprisingly well.
Leo:
An annoying little astra, who is at the moment a child and infinitely curious. Jacko is quite impatient with him, and generally just ignores him...
Gabrielle:
Jacko and Sofie's little sister. Jacko is inordinately fond of her, having found and rescued her as a coccoon; Sofie is much more competetive, and not at all certain how she feels about this newcomer...

<center><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/wolfskin_/Jacko2.jpg"></center>
Jacko's Statistics:
Name: Jacko
Species: Floppi
Gender: Male
Eye color: Bright blue
Appearance: Long and lanky, smooth-furred, sleek, and rather handsome; cheetah-print, and with an intelligent and amused gleam in his eyes.
Posessions: A spiked leather collar (punk!) and a green beret
Mate: ninja
Children: None
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/wolfskin_/JackoCocoon.png">
Isn't he a pretty boy?
Personality:
Jacko is what one would call....antisocial. It's not that he doesn't LIKE people, he just doesn't see the point in getting to know any of them. He quickly bores of social situations and interactions, and would rather observe than interact. He's attractive and knows it, intelligent--and keenly aware of it. Perhaps that's his problem; maybe he's just too self-aware for his own good.
He's not malicious, however, and whenever someone bothers to extend their friendship he will not turn it away if he senses it is genuine in its roots. He merely does not require the company of others, and thus does not seek it out--and his standards for friends are high, to match his opinion of himself. Despite his flaws, he is loyal and there is something vaguely disarming about his personality and his ability to remain calm in any situation.

Sofie's Statistics:
Name: Sofie
Species: Floppi
Gender: Female
Eye color: Yellow
Appearance: Small, petite, and highly feminine; light purple in color with silver accents and butterflies and flowers in a cheery yellow; always has a misted-over expression, her head in the clouds.
Posessions: None
Mate: None
Children: None
Quotes:
Cocoon--"I broke my purple crayon!"
Baby--"I guess I'll be OK..."
Child--"Just say no...no."
Personality:
Sofie's one of those floppis with her head in the clouds--always fantasizing about something, creating intricate stories in her head and sighing wistfully and dreamily at the hopeful possibility that she could someday have an exciting adventure. She's a hopeless romantic, so much so that her ideas about how relationships should go can easily get in the way of her actual ability to have such a relationship.
She can be quite short-tempered and insistent, and if things aren't going her way she's not above being downright unpleasant until she gets it. She also rather dislikes the grittier parts of reality, and would prefer just not to know about them--so she can appear unsympathetic toward world or personal tragedy, and has absolutely no interest in the greater good of people. She is, however, incredibly friendly and fun to be around.

I don't understand WHY Fenshae is making me write in this thing...honestly. She hands me a pen and a notebook and says, "express yourself! Be an individual! Say what you want, I won't even peek!" and expects me to believe this. Moreover, she expects me to actually use it. What an utterly foolish idea--and for what purpose? To make me appear studious while I'm sitting in the corner ignoring the world? To give me an excuse to be introverted? What's she trying to turn me into? This is all just some big scheme, I know it is.
...And yet I find myself writing in it anyway.
Still. I'm not opening entries with "Dear Diary" or any such rubbish. I'm not even dating the entries. No, I refuse to treat this like some childish journal. I'll write in it, but that's all. And no guarantees I'll even do that. I'm adult enough to do what I want, even if I'm not full-grown....
...And now, I stop this pointless exercise. Hardball is on Fenshae's TV, and I can't stand to miss the political programs...Zorneh will watch it with me, anyway.

Sometimes I wonder if the reason I dislike so many people is because they all seemed to dislike me first. I mean, I'm not saying I *care* that they all seem to ignore my existance, it just seems...odd, somehow. That make sense? Sure, sure it does.
Maybe it's some exterior pressures, or the idiocy of youth clinging where I believed myself to be mature...but it seems that, even when I do attempt to hold out my paw, it is ignored or rejected. So I do not speak to my fellow floppis on the rare occasion that I enter their midst...but then, not a one has ever spoken to me. Not one has ever extended their friendship.
Why should I bother leaving the house?

Ask and yea shall receive.
Or something like that.
People have finally recognized my existance in the world. I'm not sure if I'm better for it or not. It's my observation that all of the floppis are hyperactive, detatched from reality, immature, and incredibly dull to be around. They're interesting enough to observe, but the idea of actually forming any sort of relationship with them makes me cringe. Honestly. One group seems to think they're pirates, and ger indignant and upset at any suggestion that they're not. How pitiful.
Still, I can't help but be curious about a few floppis. One, named Cerin, seems to be an exception to the above rule...quieter, more intelligent, and the sort of guy I could have an actual conversation with. I'll look out for him. There's a girl who's been following me around forever, just a baby really, a hyperactive thing called Tora that I can't seem to get rid of...I don't want to hurt her feelings--it bothers me for some reason--but lord she can be...high-maintenance. There's another floppi named Jamacin that interests me, if only because he also doesn't quite seem to fit in.
It all still seems pointless to me. I don't really WANT friends, so I don't know why I keep being disappointed in not having any. They just take so much energy...Why bother wasting all that time on a relationship that is by its very nature transitory? Why not spend it all improving myself? I don't understand.
On the bright side, Fenshae bought me a spiked collar and a green beret. I like them quite a lot. Punk with a touch of classic elegance. Yeah, I look good. And I still don't know why I bother to write in this damned thing.

I think I'm going to kill Fenshae. I was sitting here, on the lazy boy recliner, minding my own business and watching a documentary on the political climate of Ecuador...and IT walks in.
This tiny little...purplish pinkish...fluffball...who saw me...and ran over to me...and HUGGED me...and...urgh!
Fenshae tells me, "oh, Jacko, don't you want to be a big brother?" I try to explain that no, no, I really really don't. I want her to get this THING to stop clinging to my ear. It's no use. Sofie, she named the bloody creature, is not only my 'sister', but has also decided I'm her personal guardian and bestest best friend.
And to make matters WORSE, Fenshae wants her to share my journal with me. What the hell is the point of me having a journal, I beg of you, if I can't say something personal in it without a miniscule fluffball knowing all my secrets?
*written beneath in a scrawling, unsteady hand*
I'm Sofie. My big brother's a little cranky, but he's nice anyway smile

Finding Gabby
--One evening, in the floppi center, Jacko and Cerin are hanging out--
He stretches, languidly, and looks away, nose wrinkling. "I keep thinking I can see something pale, in the corner of my eye...it's all too dark to find for sure..."
Cerin looked in the direction Jacko was facing and saw nothing. "You should quit smoking that purple stuff..." He said sarcastically. "If it matters so much to you, we should go check it out!" He glanced at Jacko, wondering if he wanted to go exploring.
"We should," he says, with the beginnings of excitement curling his voice. "Come on..." he starts off for the darker corner, marvelling quietly at all the hidden dark spaces, focused on...something. He squints. "I swear...I saw something...white..."
Cerin trotted after Jacko, excitement growing inside him as well, although, he never showed it. "White, eh?" He squinted, searching for some sort of white in the darkened corner.
"There!" And in a corner, at the very end of this little hall they were walking down, there was a small white blob, vaguely luminescent and almost glowing in the light, the color of mother-of-pearl or old lace. "Told you." And he speeds up, fascinated without showing it.
"Ooooooh! Ok! I see it now!" He tried to quicken to the pace Jacko was at, but the chickie slippers inhibited him. Instead, he took flight, and flew up alongside Jacko, parlleling him until they reached the destination
He stops, walking up closer, nose twitching. What the..."Cerin..." his voice is low, and worried. "I think it's...I think it's a coccoon."
He landed next to Jacko. "A cocoon?" He moved closer to it. "Who does it belong to?"
He nudges it gently with a paw, brow furrowing. A small cloud of dust puffed up from the surface. "Judging from the dust..." wiping it clean, "nobody's." His ears droop slightly, and he feels an odd wave of emotion rise up in his throat. "Somebody just...left it here. And...gods, how long has it been here?"
Cerin's face, for once, expressed extreme sadness, and one could hear it in his voice. "That's not right..." His ears drooped. "What do we do with it?" He looked around for a human that might want to adopt it.
"How can you..." he prods it again, and it shudders; he can't help but smile slightly. "It's all right...it's alive, anyway." He draws it closer to him, feeling oddly protective.
"That's good..." He smiled as he noticed Jacko draw the cocoon closer. "Perhaps it has already found someone to take care of it." His smile widened.
What?" His brow furrows, and he glances around. "There's nobody he--" blink. "Oh." A sheepish grin, a small giggle, and he pulls the cocoon closer, looking at Cerin to see if he'd get mocked for this...
Cerin merely smiled at Jacko, at that moment, not a mocking bone in his body. He had a soft spot for little ones, as long as they weren't too annoying. He glanced down at the cocoon. "What are you gonna call him...or her?"
"I don't know," he says, blinking down at it. "How do you even tell the difference?" He was incredibly ignorant toward these things...he understand politics. Child-rearing...was not his forte, nor an interest of his. "Let's get it back into the light and see if we can tell..."
"Okay." He followed Jacko into the light, concentrating on the cocoon.
He half-rolls, half-carries the coccoon back into the main area, toward the sofa, looking at it with quiet fondness. "I think it might be female," he says, with his smile turning partly into a smirk, "judging from the...flower...on the coccoon." His eyes glitter. "Look at that...silvery-grey...it's gorgeous."
"Awww, another little sister!" he said, somewhat sarcastically. "Anyway, her cocoon is quite stunning, and I'm sure she will be as well." he couldn't wait to see what she looked like when she hatched.
He grins lopsidedly. "I'll step in early in her life," he says, eyes glittering. "She'll grow up like me." Yep, he was in overdrive elder brother mode. "Less annoying than Sofie, anyway." He glances up at him, sidelong. "Want to help corrupt her?"
--And so it began...--

Found a little cocoon, in the Center. Cerin was with me, and somehow I couldn't stand not to bring it home. Luckily Fenshae's in love already...it's female, we think, and we've named it Gabrielle. Cerin and I have promised to corrupt her immediately and make her one of our own. This makes me happy. ...I have so much more I'd like to be writing about, but I can't say it, not here, not when so many people can read it. It's clouding my thoughts and making me incredibly confused. So I'm going to leave this, now, and maybe I'll figure out what's happening later...
Dear Diary,
--I wish I didn't have to share this journal with Jacko. He's mean and doesn't like me much, and makes fun of me. Luckily I learned how to write fast--even Mum says so--so he doesn't even have to help. I want to go to the center on my own and make my own friends. Jacko's friends aren't very interesting, and I don't think anybody will talk to me if I'm with him. Oh well. Write more later.

"Pst... you... yeah you! You got the money? good... here's yur bribe! Now remember... don't say nuthin to no one!!!!!!"
You are handed an envelope with a cocoon report inside... the top of the report reads: Leapord...
Cocoon:: Leapord
Generation:: Zwo
Finder:: Bill
Found:: West side library... California.
Details:: Bill found this cocoon on the top shelf in a library in California... the West Side Second Story Editorials to be precise. Looking at this cocoon I thought that it would have been found in the jungle or something similar but Bill assures me that on the top of a shelf is where this little male was. It was quite dusty and was behind a stach of books, of which the topmost book wasRudyard Kipling's 'A Jungle Book' ... This perplexes me... does that have something to do with the colouring of this floppi cocoon? or is it simply a coincidence? Or maybe someone thought that the poor baby was a bookend and was using it as decoration to accomodate the book? ... In anycase, Bill has rescued him and I hope to find him a good home soon.

Talked to Cerin last night. It seems I'm not alone; he's as confused as I am, and about the same thing. I'm being cryptic because Sofie reads this also. I wish that weren't the case, I really do, because I need to rant about this somewhere. I'm just so confused...knowing how Cerin feels has made it better on one hand, but on the other, it almost makes it worse. As long as I don't think about it I'm fine...but once I start thinking...I just feel so awkward...I'm terrified it won't work out, that it'll ruin our friendship, and I can't stand to risk losing him. He means too much to me. Which is, I suppose, what the problem is. Oh well...I give up for tonight. Hopefully I can puzzle all this out on my own...
Dear Diary,
--I wonder what Jacko's problem is? He wouldn't even come to the center last night, spent all day moping around...Cerin came looking for him, and I guess they talked, but then Jacko came home and was even more miserable...except he had this weird happy look in his eyes, too. I don't understand it. Jacko's weird.
I met Mushi, though, Cerin's sister. She's very nice, and super-pretty. I hope I'm that pretty when I grow up! I also met Hikari today...she seemed nice too, but I didn't get much chance to talk to her.

*there are a few pages missing from the journal, jaggedly ripped out...but if you know where to look, carefully hidden beneath the cushions of the small bed Jacko has claimed for himself, there are the pieces of notebook paper, with his careful writing...*
I'm sore as hell, but happier than I've ever been.
I should explain that, huh?
Jamacin and Zack got into a fight today...something stupid, clash of testosterone, some misunderstandings...Jamacin accused Zack of having hurt Pollay, and nobody would listen to the poor girl before they started duking it out. Something about it just bugged me...I couldn't just sit back and watch...so I had the brilliant idea to jump in the middle of things and try to break it up.
Not such a smart idea. I spent a lot of the day getting tossed around, bitten, clawed, and shoved. Keppit finally broke it up, but by then I'd already stopped fighting.
I was limping around, trying to find my beret, when Cerin came in. Everyone else had left by then, and I'd almost forgotten how bad all the cuts and scrapes looked, but it was apparently pretty scary because he looked at me with the most heart-rending worried eyes...I had to talk him down to keep him from hunting them down and beating them down for hurting me...
I've been terrified to say this, to even think it concretely, because I'm so sure it'll go wrong, or it'll disappear once I acknowledge it...but I can't hold it in any longer. I'm in love with him.
The way I feel, whenever I'm around him...the way my heart jumps around in my chest and my throat closes up...the way I can't think straight when I first see him, the way I can't stop thinking about him when I'm lying awake at night, the way my heart aches when we're apart...it took me so long to recognize these for what they were. I was so blind to the opportunity, so naively certain if the order of the world...that it didn't even occur to me that I might be gay until I found myself in love with another guy.
We snuggled on the floor, behind the sofa, like teenagers, making out and blushing and giggling with no shame.
Now I feel like a frivolous schoolgirl, lying under the covers in the darkness and giggling over a handsome guy...but I don't really care. I love him. I can't get enough of him, can't be close enough. And he feels the same way...and I don't need to think about it, don't need to worry...I can just give in....let him sweep me away...
I am, however, a little bit concerned about what'll happen when people figure out about us--we'll have to come out eventually, and I've watched enough News programs to know that it probably won't be problem-free. To know that we'll have a rough time with this. And I for one don't particularly like being tossed around by testosterone-laden bastards...but whatever it takes, I suppose.

But I tell you this now--I swear to god, if anybody lays a paw on Cerin, I will personally rip their throat out.
