<center>The Story of My CuWorms</center>
One day, as I was walking through the forest, I came upon twelve small cacoons. They ranged in size, shape and color. I puzzled over them, and then decided I would take them home with me. However, they seemed very delicate, and would surely be squashed if I put them in my pocket. I only had two hands, and so, with a sigh, I chose only two of the cacoons to take home with me.
The first one was a light purple, with small blue markings all along it, spiralling up and down it's shiny lengths, and light green whisps spun throughout it. It was the most delicate I had seen, and it's fraying edges seemed almost like lace. This was the first one I chose, for I was drawn by it's giddy brightness, which stood out from the rest of the dull cacoons.
The second one I choose was a deep, shadowy black, with silvery grey veins sewn into the silky, shiny cacoon. I do not know why I chose this one. It eminated with the stench of evil, and sent shivers down my arm when I touched it, unlike the warm comfort I felt with the purple cacoon.
I set them side by side on my bedside table, each one inside a box filled with cotton balls to protect them. Then, I shut off my light and went to sleep.

Today, I woke up very early in the morning, to small cracking sounds. I quickly opened the boxes, and poked around in the cotton. There was nothing but empty cacoons there!
"Oh no!" I cried. "They must have gotten away!" I looked around my room in a panic. What if the cat had eaten them? What if they'd gotten lost in the thick, cushy carpet? "Come back!" I called. It was then that I heard the crackling again.
Crunchy crunchy crunch.... Munchy munchy munch...
"Hu?" I looked beside my bed. There was nothing there but my small pet ivy plant. But, when I listened carefully, it was crunching. I furrowed my brow, and lifted up a leaf. Nothing underneath. I lifted up another- still nothing. But huddled under the third leaf, was two tiny, cute worms! I gasped. One was purple and blue with a green eye- just like the feathery cacoon. She munched tiny, polite bites, and seemed absolutely adorable. The second was dark black- much like his cacoon. He ate with large, greedy bites, and had narrowed eyes. He did not seem very cute, he was so grumpy. He looked as though he could be cute, if he were happy.
I smiled and picked them up. They were SO tiny!! I cooed to them.
"Oh, you two are sooooo adorable..." a said, my voice soft. The black one was about as long as the tip of my pinky finger to my knuckle, and he was wider than the purple one. Not fatter- almost... muscular. The purple one was just a bit shorter than the black one, and much skinnier. I picked up my ivy plant and set it on my bedside table, and put their cacoon boxes on the soil. I then carefully dropped the little creatures onto the leafy thing.
"Are you both nice and cozy?" I asked, giggling. They seemed cozy. "Alright! I'll come back to check on you in a bit, ok?" The purple one went back to eating, but the black one just sulked. "Someone's grumpy..." I whispered, and then left the room.

I have named my worms! Their names are Fiorra and Cethan, after my two favorite members of Inoni's Guard. I wonder if these, too, will fall in love? Perhaps they are brother and sister... But hopefully, they aren't!
Today, I wondered what I should do with my cute worms. It was much too cold for such tiny things outside... But, now, in the early morning light, they don't seem so tiny after all... Almsot as if they'd grown slightly larger overnight!
Anyways, that is a truly false thought. Back to the part where I could not think of what to do... I decided against introducing them to the cat, for he was very hungry and might've eaten them. Then, I decided to build them a home. Surely, two boxes underneath a plant was not adequate housing? I took the little worms downstairs, along with some blasawood, cardboard, glue and scissors. I measured and snipped and glued and taped and fastened and adjusted until I had a nice little cottage. It even had little beds inside! Then, I realized I had no where to put it. I searched through my room, until an idea came to me. I took some wire twist-ties, and attatched the cottage to the ivy plant! I had made sure before hand that the cottage was very light, so even the flimsy strands of ivy held strong. I put Fiorra and Cethan inside, and they peaked out the empty windows at me.
Tomorrow, or perhaps the day after that, I shall have to buy some glass for those little windows.

"Oh my..." I said softly, peering out the wooden windows. "It is an awfully long way to the ground..." I glanced at Cethan, hoping he'd say something.
"For the last time, you just open the door, and climb down the leaves," he said, rolling his eyes.
"Easier said than done, Mister Grump!" I cried, trying my best to look more pissed off than hurt. Cethan always treats me like this... We've known eachother for years. Each winter, we hatch from cacoons, and then live all year, except for fall. That's when we need to spin new cacoons, to keep us away from the rain. Water is our biggest weakness as worms. Thousands of us drown each rainstorm... It's really sad. And each winter, while I'm still sobbing over the fall dead, he's just acting cold and distant. I really like him, but he...
"Did you just call me Mister Grump again?" he said, his cold eyes locking on mine. My heart fluttered. He has gorgeous eyes.
"Uh... No..." I whispered. His eyes, though gorgeous, were very scary when he got mad. I've been calling him 'Mister Grump' for years, but he HATES it. I decided to back down for once. "I was just going outside for a snack. Thank-you for you leaf-climbing advice!" I said, rather coldly as well, and slowly pushed open the door. I swallowed hard, and began to descend...

"Fi?" I said, puzzled. I knew that girl had a huge fear of heights. I looked over the edge of the floor, and saw Fiorra hugddled on a leafing, her eyes shut tight, and her whole body trembling and she slowly crawled inch by inch towards the ground. "Aren't you scared?"
"No. No I'm not." she called weakly up to me, trying her hardest to keep a proud expression on her face. I almost grinned. Almost. I never smile. It's just always been that way. But I do come close, and it's always around Fiorra. We're pretty tight, me and her.
"As you say," I said, shrugging my shoulders, and turning away form the edge. I lowered my voice and began to count. "One... Two... Three... Four... Fi-"
"Cethan?" her voice trembled. I smirked quickly, but then swiftly regained my scowl.
"What now?" a hissed, glaring over the edge. Her eyes were huge. "You aren't stuck are ya?"
"Mmm... no..." she said softly, her green eyes huge and pouting. She has gorgeous eyes. "Nevermind," I could barely hear her ashamed whisper. Sometimes I even surprise myself with how cruel I sounded as I said,
"Good! Cause I wouldn't go down and get you, even if you were stranded on a leaf!" I wanted to smack myself, but I don't exactly have hands. That's the bad part about being a worm.
Fiorra was silent... Too silent. I looked down at her cautiously. Just a peek... I didn't want her to think I was worried, even though I was. She thinks I'm really harsh, so I have to keep up the image, you know? But Fiorra was looking straight at me!
"Please come help me?" she said softly, her gorgeous eyes staring up into mine. They were gorgeous, yes, but also tear-filled.
"Oh god, don't cry on me!" I shouted down to her. "I'll come and get you, just quit blubbering! You're such a baby, Fi!"
Her sniffles waned, and she glared at me. "I'm not a baby! Now come and get me so I can beat you up!" she cried, and a stray sniffle leaked through her evil looks.
"Why would I come and get you if you're just gonna hurt me! Maybe I should just leave you there!" I said, pretending to turn away.
"No!" she cried, and I turned back. "Please, this is so humiliating! Just come get me, alright?"
"Fine," I rolled my eyes and started climbing down to her...

Today has been so boring... Nothing has happened at all! I tried to talk to Cethan, but to no avail... Not one thing has happened that is worthy of saying! I woke up, murmured a humiliated 'good morning' to Cethan, and nothing has happened since. I supose I ate breakfast, but that's not so amazing...
Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Fi has been acting wierd lately... She's been kind of upset. I'm not sure why, though. She won't tell me anything...
"Oh, come ON!" I finally cried, after a day of silence. "Just tell me! I can't apologize if I don't know what you're mad about!" She glanced at me out of the corner of her eye, then turned her back to me and shook her head. "Was it... something I said?" I squirmed into her line of vision, but she just turned away. "Or... Something I did?" still no response. "Something I didn't do?" Fiorra turned an looked at me slightly. "Aha! It WAS something I didn't do!"
"So..." I once again entered her line of vision, but she didn't turn away. She just looked at her feet. "What was it? Umm... I forgot your birthday?" I guessed, and she glared at me and turned away. "Hey! I was kidding!" I tried to laugh, but she still looked so mad. "How about... I didn't... keep a promise?" I guessed again. Fiorra sighed and turned away.
"You'd never guess it..." she mumbled, and slithered to the other side of the house. I looked at her turned back. What on earth was she talking about?
"Aw, pease tell me Fi?" I begged. I couldn't take it! I hate it when girls do this! They are SO complex, and it makes my head hurt.
"You never hug me anymore," she said softly.
"What?"
"You haven't hugged me sicne we were kids!" Fiorra cried.
"Yeah..." I said. "I know. But what does that have to do with anything?"
"Well... Sometimes girls LIKE to be hugged..." she said, blushing. She seemed kinda... Nervous, now.
"Oh, alright," I said, and gave her turned back a quick hug. "All better?"
"Er... Yeah. All better.."she said, sighing. What? Why are you glaring at me? She wanted a hug, so I gave her a nice friendly hug! That's what she meant... Right?

<center>It's been awhile! In the winter, us CuWorms fall into a deep, deep sleep. I've just awoken.
"Cethan?" I called out. There was nothing but silence. "Where are you?" I looked around slowly, but he was nowhere in my tiny wooden cottage. I suddenly felt panicked. He was gone! A wiggled all over the place, calling his name. "Cethan? Cethan! CETHAN!" Finally, I looked at the door. A small note was tacked to it.
</center>
<center><i>"I've gone off Fi. Sorry. I woke up terribly early this year, and something just didn't feel right, so I went off to explore the world. I'll come back someday, don't you worry. But sometime's a worm's gotta do what a worm's gotta do. And this worm's gotta get out of here for awhile!"</i></center>
<center>I suddenly felt so hopeless. He... He's abandonned me! I can stand it... Where on EARTH could he have gone off to!?!</center>

I returned home today, after my long journey. Fi was so glad to see me! She wiggled right up and tackled me to the ground! I missed her too... But I had returned home sucessful! I had actually been secretly searching for something... I thought it was just a rumor, but it's true!
"Fiorra. I discoverd something while I was gone," I said, smiling.
"What was it?" she asked me.
"There is a magical woman named Christi. She can bring things to life... I've even heard that she CREATED the CuWorms," I said, excitedly.
"Really?" Fiorra's eyes were wide. "No way!"
"Yes way," I retorted. "And you know what? She has been rumored... To be able to turn animals into humans!" Fiorra was silent, just thinking. "A girl saw her do it once with a blueberry... If she can turn fruit into peopl, then surely she..."
"Can turn CuWorms into Humans as well?" Fiorra finished. Then, she smiled. "Yeah! Let's go find your mysterious Christi!"
"I knew you'd understand!" I cried. "I've already packed our bags! Let's go!" And so, we took off out of our house and down the ladder.

April 20th</center>
I slithered alongside Cethan, tired but happy. If he was right, I could become a girl! With long, soft hair instead of slimy skin, and slim white arms and legs, instead of a pugdy purple body. My antennae could stay, but I would gladly trade the rest for the gracefulness of a human.
"How much longer till we get there?" I asked Cethan.
"Maybe we'll get there tonight. Tomorrow noon, at latest," he responded, slowing his pace a little. He must've known I was getting tired.
"Good. I'll be glad when I can finally rest... And then hopefully walk back with strong human legs, instead of wriggling like an inchworm!" We had been travelling for three days now. I couldn't wait to get there! I wouldn't let myself have any doubt about the truth. I just KNEW it couldn't be a rumor. The lovely Christi would see us, and turn us into real humans!
"Hah. You'd like that, wouldn't you?" Cethan said, responding to my earlier comment. I smiled and nodded... Inside, I was rejoicing. I had always wished to be lovely like humans... If I were lovely, then Cethan would fall in love with me!
"Yeah! Are you excited?" I asked, smiling wide. I tried to picture us as humans. Maybe I'd have blonde hair... No, brown! Actually, red hair... Reddish Brown! Or black, like Cethan... And Cethan... He'd be stunning. 'Hot', as humans put it.
"I would say, 'Can't Wait', but I really can... I'm tired! Wanna call it quits for tonight? We can finish walking in the morning," Cethan said, stopping and turning to face me.
"Mm-hmm!" I said, in my cutest voice, and wiggled my pack off my back, and nugded it till it unrolled. Then I crawled inside, as Cethan did the same with his sleeping back. "Good night, Cethan!"
"Good night, Fiorra..." And then we both closed our eyes... And I dreamed of nothing but humans.

I rose with the sun. After packing up our stuff, I poked Fiorra gently. "Hey," I called softly. "Wake up..." She groaned and rolled over. "I said, WAKE UP!" She bolted upright.

"I'm up, I'm up!! Ok?" Fiorra cried, immediately picking up her things. "Let's go!! I can't wait to find the Magic Lady Christi!" She began marching off. (Well, as best as a CuWorm can march) I laughed, surprised by her eagerness. Here I was, expecting a grouchy, lazy Fi all day. It was a pleasant surprise.

"Hah! Wait up!" I slid my pack onto my back and headed off after her. "Why the huge rush?" I laughed inwardly as I said this. I knew perfectly well what the rush was. Fi giggled excitedly.

"We might become humans soon! I can't wait!!" Her voice was bubbly and cheerful. She was so cute when she was happy... I watched her as she moved, part of me mesmerized. She carried herself so well. The way the rising sun cast shimmering beams of light towards her... The way her blue and purple hues seemed to sparkle and glimmer... She was really attractive. If we hadn't have been almost like brother and sister, I would've thought I had a crush on her. But that would be crazy.

"Heh... But whatever will you do if Christi can't help us? Or, what if we don't even find her?" I asked the questions without care at first. But, when I saw that flash of sadness in fiorra, a little bit of me twinged. I hated seeing girls sad. Especially one as lovely as Fiorra.

"I... I don't know," she whispered, her green eyes staring down at the ground in front of her. I moved closer to her.

"Look, I'm sorry. I'm sure we'll find Magic Lady Christi..." I started, nudging her softly. "And she'll turn us into humans." She smiled weakly, the hope returning to the mintyness of her eyes.

<center>"You sure?"

"Yeah. I'm sure,"

<center>March 5th</center>
I marched onwards, unscathed by Cethan's rash comments. We WERE going to find Magic Lady Christi, and she WAS going to turn me into a lovely human. I knew it! And, I knew it would be well worth the soreness I felt from all this travelling... "Ceth?" I asked softly, my eyes straight ahead on the path.

He smiled and looked at me. My heart did blackflips. "Yeah, Fi?" He was gonna make the BEST human. A regular hottie, I could tell.

"What should... What should be the very first thing we do as humans?" I asked, blushing. There were so many possibilities. Humans had knees for jumping, hair for brushing, hands for holding, lips for... My blush deepened, and I eagerly awaited Cethan's answer.

"Dance," he said, his voice quiet and uncertain, his embarassment clear. "We should dance with eachother," I was surprised at first, to hear such a girly, romantic answer. I felt no need to tease, however, because I was REALLY happy with his answer. And then, we both grew quiet, our heads filled with images of swirling across a dance floor in eachother's arms... But, as brother and sister of course. As lovers? ...

<center>That would be crazy.
