The Legend

The Legend Fennas of the Mellon Nin tells us that they are descendents of an ancient magical land. Able to harness powers of nature and intellect, underlying tension between the races initiated a great war that threatened to the beautiful land. Seeking to end the brutality the Divine Beria (Protector) drained the users of their powers, sealing the combined force into one large crystal pillar. To prevent a future catastrophe Beria trapped the crystal in a large underground chasm and sealed the entrance with a large stone fennas (gate).

Many centuries of calm passed as the world continued on as the races remained unaware of the hidden treasure beneath their feet. It wasn’t until recently that a small tremor cracked a corner of the Legend Fennas and the crystal pillar inside began splitting into pieces. When in a warm environment, the crystals developed small tails and within a week or two they became full grown animals, able to be fully domesticated. Though some trespassers have attempted to rob the crystals, I have taken the role of the new protector of the powers and decide who is judged unworthy. Named Mellon Nin (My Friend), they remain loyal companions to those who treat them well.

The following inscription was engraved on the Legend Fennas and has been translated for your benefit:
I valar broniatha
Or dhuath a burzum
Ned ol a calad
Beriad le a nin dan 'ruith
Thaed ne kibum a gurum a athar
Tiruvantel
Mellon lin

The powers will endure
Above shadow and darkness
In dream and light
To protect you and me against wrath

Stages of Mellon Nin Life

Stage One - Gemling
Your Mellon Nin's lifeforce is contained within a delicate gemstone. Able to feel emotion, the gemling loosens from it's frozen state as you care for it. While two fluffy tails serve as some protect and cushioning for the gemling, be careful while handling the fragile item. Beware, if you mishandle your gemling and drop it, the very essence of your Mellon-nin may escape you. While it may have been an accident at the time, other gemlings will sense your misconduct and be afraid to be held by you.

Stage Two - Baby Kitten
Your kindness has paid off and a baby kitten emerges from the stone. Weak from using it's energy to break out of the gem, this baby kitten needs lots of rest to advance to it's next stage. As any newborn, keep your baby kitten warm and fed. Thought it may be hard to resist petting it all the time, less handling will allow for a deeper sleep and healthier kitten.

Stage Three - Kitten
Your kitten has recovered his or her strength and it is here that your kitten's gender is discovered. Playful and loving, your kitten chases whatever creatures it encounters in between naps and purring for food. Keep your kitten entertained while he or she follows you around, for your kitten can learn some basic commands in this stage and looks to you to learn night from wrong.

Stage Four - Adult
Congrats! Your kitty is all grown up and is now a full fledged Mellon Nin. Serving as a messenger, protector, or a pet, he or she is ready to see the world by your side. Here is where the distinction between the genders is more visible and personality differences become evident.

Males sit taller than females with slightly longer fur around the chest, face, and tail with tuffs of fur on the tips of their ears. Being more muscular, they are powerful Mellon Nin despite their mellow attitdes and tend to become aggressive around males outside of their immediate area. The temperment of adult males is uncomplicated, friendly and highly adaptable to other species.

Females, though smaller than their male counterparts, retain a sparky and playful attitude as they age. Females do best around those they were acquainted with when they were young. Less handable, these cats will follow on their own terms, as they like to be around activity. Shy or agressive around new humans, their strength lies in manipulation, speed, and keen eyesight. The temperment of an adult female Mellon Nin is playful, inquisitive and that of an active cat who desires companionship at all times.

Is roleplaying (RP) required to own a Mellon Nin?
No, you may purchase or bid on a Mellon Nin regardless of whether you enjoy the roleplaying behind it or not. Perhaps you just think it is cute and would like one, perhaps you want to add it to your collection of pets. You can also decline to RP if you are too busy, but would enjoy a pet.

Are there any advantages to roleplaying?
Yes, in more than one case. Roleplaying is a MUST for any owner wishing to breed his or her adult Mellon Nin. In roleplaying, your Mellon Nin can stay with you, meet others to breed with, or just friends to hang out with. Deticated RPers will be the first to win prizes or be used as test subjects for new art or certificates. In addition, if any special events come up, only Rpers will be eligible to attend.

How Do I Roleplay?
Visit the Breedables How-To/Info/FAQ here for advide on roleplaying and how to join an already existing roleplay.

Will there be any items in the future?
I am considering a list of spells for future generations, but no items are available currently.

Will you have other certificates to choose from?
Yes, as the store is updated check with the previews for opportunity to own another certificate.
