3/23/05 Jaar's flatsale Quake hatched and killed batman!! gonk The force of it cracked Dagi's egg and caused a tremendous tidal wave! Chief Mankiller, fluorescein's Tsunami, hatched during this 2nd disaster!

3/22/05 Kenki born! New Frost in the house! Fluo's egg cracked!

3/21/05 :OO Jaar's egg cracked already! What could be next?

3/18/05 Had a large scale flatsale. Was extremely successful and a lot of fun to do, since it was scavenger hunt based. Look for more hunts like this in the future, eh?

So uh, what are these 'Rath' things then?

General

The pets in general are called Raths (a play on wrath, yes). Within this there are different species, basically named after the disaster they were created from.

*This "world" is subject to change. I am planning on creating individual, isolated worlds for each species of Rath. This will allow for easier, more detailed RP, and less confusion about interspecies breeding (there is none)
Rath's come from a world similar to this one. They are not born as Raths, but as the every-day animals they resemble, looking exactly like those we see on Earth. Raths can only be made if one of these animals, while still developing in the egg*, survives a large scale natural disaster by some kind of miracle. Their survival is unexplainable and as you can imagine, a Rath being 'made' is a very rare occurence.

*to make things easier, all animals in this world are born as eggs, whether mammals or not.

Appearance

Because they are not fully developed when this happens, the disaster changes their genetic makeup and so once hatched, they look slightly different to the original animal would have hatches as and they have an almost elemental appearence. Because of this event most Raths turn out slightly unstable and as a result take pleasure in creating more of these disasters. Especially in populated areas. Full-grown Raths aren't designed to be cute.

Basic Species Info

Frost (corvid/falcon): Charming and manipulative. Most have cunning minds which they're not afraid to use. (Yes, more cunning than a fox who's Professor of Cunning at Cunningham University.) They like to hoard, and will often be quite selfish. You could only get to understand what this Rath is really like if it were to trust you completely.

Plague (rat): Rabid and really quite unstable. Even the young Rath is like the kinda kid you just know is going to grow up to be rather psychotic. They take life with a pinch of salt though. It's all a game to them. Even though they're aware of the fact that they're not at all attractive, they Like their image and find it amusing to get under people's skin by being gross. Needless to say, they have a twisted sense of humour.

Tsunami (seahorse): Beautiful yet unforgiving. They think very highly of themselves and won't take no for an answer. They're not always ready to reap havoc, but when they do, they let you know they mean business. (If you're having trouble imagining an evil seahorse- Think giant serpentine seamonster.. thing.)

Magma (lion/cougar): Mysterious and silent unless provoked. Even though they're very much alive and very much solid, they have an almost ghostly appearance. You know there's a lot going on behind those eyes and it kinda spooks you out. When the need arises they will make a deadly ally or a fearsome opponent.

Quake (bull/mare): Fierce and brutal. Will attack whenever the hell it feels the urge without reason nor mercy. Because of their careless and stubborn attitude and their intimidating appearence, they are often mistaken for being stupid. Or maybe it's just because they can't actually be bothered to show their true genius -They'd rather just destroy something.

Stuff you need to read if you read nothing else.

General rules

2. Only the people mentioned in the Owners List should have Raths. Anyone who has one and is not in that list, is not it's rightful owner.

3. Do not beg for a Rath egg. If there are any available for sale, it will be announced in the News and Sales sections.

4. No direct linking! This is a new rule, so please pay attention to it. However, if you got a Rath before the shop when on hiatus, you may leave it direct linked; Reivan will grow those himself.

5. All PMs should be sent to Raths. Unless you have a serious issue and urgently need to contact me, please do not PM. Otherwise, if you have a question that you're sure is not already answered on this page, then post in the thread and I or someone else will be happy to answer you.

6. If you are serious about wanting an egg, Please make sure you read my posts on the first page thoroughly. Reading and following rules is always a good thing when you want something. If there is something you do not understand or are unsure about, go ahead and ask in the thread.

7. Flaming of questions will not be tolerated, though I don't anticipate a problem :}

8. All Raths adopted at the egg stage will be hatched on or near it's due date. However, if you wish your Rath to grow past the second stage, you must show interest in the thread. Not expecting pages of RP but checking in once and a while is appreciated.

9. Do not quote the first page. Ek, talk about eating bandwidth. If you have a comment about something on the first page, feel free to quote small amounts of text but no images!

Are Raths RP-intensive?
Although RP is encouraged, they are not RP heavy pets, no.
I certainly won't force you to roleplay, but since developing speed depends on your activeness to an extent.. engaging with your pet will encourage growth.
If you never interact with your Rath after it hatches, it will still grow, but it will take longer than usual. Even Raths need some level of appreciation.. And understandably, if you completely ignore your Rath it will most likely grow up to resent you.

How many can i own?
You may own up to three Gen 1 Raths, and up to five Gen 2 and beyond. That's 8 altogether! :}
If you reach the limit though (o_o) and wish to be able to get more.. you will have to disown some (hand them back to me for adoption, give them away to friends, or simply let them die (which will only happen if you ask for it to)). :/

Anyway, HI! I'm glad to be a part of the Raths team. whee I shall do my best to disturb you.

I like to draw and color. This is the first time I've been hired as a colorist for a shop that isn't my own (mostly I do .exes. >> ... << wink , so I'm pretty happy. Did I mention I like to draw? ..Yea. I like that. Lots.
